The cleanup after the work

The project is done. Get your space back.

The new bathroom is ready, but the old vanity is still outside. A replaced door is taking up space you need. Put those leftover items on a pickup plan, with the price settled and updates through the final haul-away.

Match your item

Construction cleanup starts with the right items.

We currently accept the doors, toilets and bathroom vanities listed here, already detached and ready outside. Choose each item separately. Mixed drywall, tile, concrete, lumber and demolition rubble are not accepted, including in bags.

Doors

Count each detached door panel separately. Have it removed from its hinges before pickup. A whole installed doorway or garage door is not the same item.

Toilets

Choose Toilet for an ordinary household toilet that has already been disconnected, drained and moved outside. Text a photo before booking if yours is broken or has loose sharp pieces.

Bathroom vanities

Choose the small, standard or large bathroom vanity that matches your sink cabinet. A makeup table has a separate choice. Plumbing disconnection and removal from the wall happen before pickup.

  1. Arrange the removal work

Have the fixture safely detached and any plumbing or electrical connections handled by an appropriate professional. We do not remove installed fixtures or perform demolition.

  2. Keep the booked items separate

Have the fixtures empty and ready at ground level. Keep them apart from rubble, loose renovation materials, tools and anything you want to keep.

  3. Show the outdoor handoff

Use a permitted outdoor spot with a clear path. Add a location photo and notes on your order page so the right entrance and the right items are easy to identify.

Construction and remodeling debris

Not on the regular city route

Elyria publishes no construction debris route, and the county Collection Center refuses construction and demolition debris of any kind, from brick and concrete to drywall, flooring, lumber and shingles.

City cost & eligibility
Neither the city nor the county offers a construction debris route, so there is no published city or county charge for a project load. A renovation arranges its own private container or hauling service, and the Sanitation Department on 440-322-3895 can confirm what the city will take. Carpet and padding are the one exception on the city's bulk list, when they are cut and tied into bundles no longer than four feet.
When & how
Arrange the disposal before the work starts, because nothing from a project belongs on the curb or in the city carts.
Get it ready
Keep brick, block, concrete, drywall, flooring, insulation, lumber, nails, porcelain, shingles and siding out of the carts and off the curb. Cut and tie carpet and padding into bundles no longer than four feet if it is going out as bulk, and keep paint and chemicals for the county's hazardous waste route.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Self-hauling in Elyria means two places. The Lorain County Collection Center at 540 South Abbe Road takes electronic scrap, household hazardous waste from residences, fluorescent bulbs and ballasts, tires up to a 20-inch rim, paper for shredding and extra recyclables, on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday with photo identification, and the county asks large loads to be booked on 440-329-5440. Everything else that is too big for a cart belongs on the city route: bulk items go out with the regular collection after they are disassembled, stripped of screws and nails, and prepared the way the city asks, with mattresses wrapped in plastic, carpet cut and tied, and no appliance that still holds refrigerant. Construction and demolition debris has no local route, because the city publishes none and the county refuses that material outright. Yard waste goes to the Barnes Materials compost facility at 45 Chestnut Street, which is free for Elyria residents. Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

Construction debris removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Elyria.

How much does construction debris removal cost in Elyria?

Pricing is per accepted item. A detached door is $99 as a single item, an ordinary toilet is $79, and a small bathroom vanity is $99. Larger vanities have their own choices. Select the listed items to see the exact combined price. These prices do not cover mixed rubble or loose building materials. Loading, transportation and disposal are included; applicable sales tax appears before payment.

Can I get same-day toilet or vanity pickup in Elyria?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup, where available. Checkout shows the dates you can choose. Arrange disconnection, removal and the move outside first, then have the fixture ready by the time in your confirmation. We text you before arrival and provide pickup photos when it is done.

Will you disconnect a sink or take a door off its hinges?

The fixture must already be detached, disconnected and accessible outside at ground level. Arrange plumbing, electrical work, removal from walls or hinges, and indoor carrying before pickup. Dropcurb handles loading and haul-away from your outdoor pickup spot.

Can I add bags of drywall, tile or other demolition waste?

Mixed drywall, tile, concrete, lumber and demolition rubble are not accepted. This page offers pickup for the listed doors, toilets and bathroom vanities that are already removed. Do not book loose building materials as household trash bags or as an extra item. Arrange suitable disposal for those materials with your contractor or a debris specialist.

Can a door, toilet and vanity go in the same pickup?

Yes. Add each listed fixture separately and choose the correct vanity size. Each detached door panel counts as one item. The combined price appears before you book. Keep the fixtures together outside, separate from anything staying, and add a location photo on your order page.

Can construction debris go out with the trash in Elyria?

No. The city publishes no construction route and the county Collection Center refuses construction and demolition debris of any kind, from brick and concrete to drywall, flooring, lumber and shingles, so a project load needs a private container or hauling service. Carpet and padding can go out as bulk once they are cut and tied into bundles no longer than four feet.Official guidance

Who do I call with a sanitation question in Elyria?

The Sanitation Department on 440-322-3895 or sanitation@cityofelyria.org for carts, bulk items and collection questions, and the Lorain County Solid Waste District on 440-329-5440 for the Collection Center, including drop-off terms and appointments for a large load.Official guidance
