Construction and demolition material

Not on the regular city route

Construction waste is the owner's responsibility under the city ordinance and is refused at the clean-up weeks and at the roll-off container.

City cost & eligibility
The city does not take construction material. Ordinance section 98-63 says all construction waste, whether from a contractor or a resident, is the owner's responsibility for disposal, and the clean-up regulations refuse construction and demolition materials, so the household has to arrange private disposal.
When & how
Do not set construction material out for a city route. Keep it out of the clean-up pile, because debris that does not follow the regulations is left behind with no notice, and arrange private disposal instead.
Get it ready
Separate eligible material from the project load before any set-out: brush and limbs can go out bundled and cut to four feet or less, flooring in 4 by 4 bundles, and jacuzzis or pools cut into 4 by 4 pieces, but concrete, rocks, bricks, dirt and cloddy grass stay in the load the owner has to place elsewhere.

One weekly collection and a cart at the kerb by seven

Mustang serves about 8,100 residential and commercial sanitation customers itself, with curbside collection once a week for residential customers and the poly cart at the kerb no later than 7:00 a.m. on the scheduled trash day. Garbage goes in containers, and the ordinance sets the yard material limits: limbs have to be bundled and tied at no more than three feet and 25 pounds and placed within two feet of the kerb, grass clippings go in plastic bags no larger than 30 gallons and 25 pounds each, and no more than five bags per residence are taken per pickup. Additional bags and other refuse run as special collections with prior arrangements, and those fees are set by resolution and added to the monthly utility bill.

The clean-up weeks are strict about timing and bundling

The city runs a curbside bulk clean-up in March and another in October for residential sanitation customers. Items may go to the kerb a week early but must be in place by 7:00 a.m. on the assigned Saturday, and the crews make only one pass down each street, so a pile that is not ready is missed. Drivers will not carry debris from the house or wait while it is moved, poly carts are not collected, and a basketball goal or any personal property left at the kerb may be taken, with the city and OEMA not responsible. Brush, tree limbs, lumber, decking and fence panels have to be cut to four feet or less and bundled with rope or cord, flooring goes out in tied 4 by 4 bundles, stumps have to be cut to four feet by 12 inches, jacuzzis and pools have to be cut into 4 by 4 pieces, small material goes in containers, and empty cardboard boxes have to be broken down.

Concrete, chemicals and dead animals never go in the pile

The clean-up regulations refuse pieces of concrete, rocks and bricks, construction and demolition material, hazardous liquid substances including batteries, paints, tires and oils, and dead animals, and the ordinance adds that dirt, rock and grass with clods may not go into a poly cart either. Loose debris, or anything placed next to a mailbox, fence, utility meter or other structure, is not collected at all, and debris that breaks the regulations is left behind without notice. Construction waste is the owner's responsibility for disposal whether a contractor or the household produced it.

Use the spring or autumn clean-up week

A Mustang residential sanitation customer with bulky household items that can wait for the assigned Saturday in March or October.

Cost & conditions
The city publishes the clean-up dates and rules but no separate fee, and the ordinance says special collection charges are set by resolution and added to the monthly utility bill, so confirm the charge with City Hall at 376-4521 before a heavy load.
Arrange it
Move the items to the kerb no earlier than one week before the assigned Saturday and have them ready by 7:00 a.m. on the clean-up day, because the crew makes one pass per street and will not wait or help.

Residential sanitation customers only, one pass per street, poly carts not collected, personal property left at the kerb at the resident's risk, and no concrete, rocks, bricks, construction or demolition material, hazardous liquids, tires, paints, batteries or dead animals.

Take bulk waste to the roll-off at Public Works

A Mustang resident who would rather haul bulk waste through the year than wait for a clean-up week.

Cost & conditions
The city publishes the container, its hours and its access rules but no rate, and special collections are billed to the utility account by resolution, so confirm any charge with City Hall at 376-4521.
Arrange it
Stop at the OEMA office first with proof of residence and a current City of Mustang utility bill, then place the load inside the roll-off container at Public Works, 520 SW 59th. The container is accessible Monday through Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

Residents only, because commercial and landlord accounts do not qualify, and everything has to meet the spring clean-up restrictions and go inside the container. Dumping on the ground around the container is littering and risks a citation.

Sign up for curbside single stream recycling

A Mustang residential utility customer who wants curbside recycling for paper, metal cans, plastic bottles and glass bottles or jars.

Cost & conditions
$6.25 per month added to the monthly City of Mustang utility bill for the optional curbside recycling programme. Residential utility customers who sign the participation form and commit for at least one year, terminable with thirty days notice; the programme also needs a minimum of 500 households signed up to start and to continue.
Arrange it
Sign the curbside recycling participation form and return it to the city, then follow the programme schedule with questions to the utility department at 376-4521 or OEMA at 256-5000.

The programme takes paper, cardboard, cartons, junk mail, aluminium and steel cans, plastic bottles and food or beverage glass bottles and jars with lids removed, and refuses plastic bags of any kind, hazardous waste containers, clothing, foam and bubble wrap, windows and mirrors, ceramics and dishes, light bulbs, books, frozen food boxes, gift wrap, photographs, diapers, pet food bags, grass and yard waste and food. Cardboard has to be flattened to fit the cart, shredded paper goes in clear plastic bags, and newspapers go in without their plastic bags or rubber bands.

Ask about the Saturday special trash drop-off

A Mustang resident who wants to drop a load at the public works yard on a Saturday rather than during the weekday roll-off window.

Cost & conditions
The city notice confirms a Saturday special trash drop-off at Public Works but publishes no hours, accepted list or fee, so confirm all three with City Hall at 376-4521, especially because the notice also shows the service can pause for a weekend.
Arrange it
Call City Hall at 376-4521 to confirm the next Saturday the special trash drop-off will run, then bring the load to the public works yard and expect it to be checked for eligibility.

The retained notice only records the interruption and the resumption date, so the hours, the accepted items and the requirements are unknown and the route cannot be relied on without a call.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Self hauling in Mustang runs through the city's own yard. Residents take bulk waste to the roll-off container at Public Works on SW 59th, stopping first at the OEMA office with proof of residence and a current City of Mustang utility bill, and using the container Monday to Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. or Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Everything has to meet the spring clean-up restrictions and go inside the container, because commercial and landlord accounts do not qualify and dumping on the ground is littering that risks a citation. Twice a year the city also collects bulky items from the kerb instead: the spring clean-up runs in March and the autumn clean-up in October, with items out no earlier than a week before the assigned Saturday and ready by 7:00 a.m. Those weeks accept refrigerated appliances provided the Freon has been removed and certification is attached, brush, limbs, lumber, decking and fence panels cut to four feet and bundled, flooring in tied 4 by 4 bundles, stumps cut to four feet by 12 inches and jacuzzis or pools cut into 4 by 4 pieces, while refusing concrete, rocks and bricks, construction and demolition material, hazardous liquids such as batteries, paints, tires and oils, and dead animals. Construction waste is the owner's responsibility whatever the source, and yard material at the kerb has its own ordinance limits of three feet and 25 pounds for bundled limbs, 30 gallon and 25 pound bags for clippings and five bags per residence per pickup. Resident roll-off container for bulk waste at the public works yard

City of Mustang Public Works roll-off container

520 SW 59th, Mustang, OK

Bulk waste from Mustang residents, provided each item meets the spring clean-up restrictions and goes inside the container. The clean-up rules allow refrigerated appliances with the Freon certification, brush, limbs, lumber, decking and fence panels cut and bundled, flooring in tied bundles, stumps cut to four feet by 12 inches, and jacuzzis or pools cut into 4 by 4 pieces.

Commercial and landlord accounts do not qualify. Residents must stop at the OEMA office and show proof of residence and a current City of Mustang utility bill before using the container, items have to be placed inside it, and dumping on the ground around the container is littering that risks a citation. Concrete, rocks, bricks, construction and demolition material, hazardous liquids, tires, paints and batteries are refused.

Monday to Thursday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Friday 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., with the OEMA stop required first.

Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

Construction debris removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Mustang.

How much does construction debris removal cost in Mustang?

Pricing is per accepted item. A detached door is $99 as a single item, an ordinary toilet is $79, and a small bathroom vanity is $99. Larger vanities have their own choices. Select the listed items to see the exact combined price. These prices do not cover mixed rubble or loose building materials. Loading, transportation and disposal are included; applicable sales tax appears before payment.

Can I get same-day toilet or vanity pickup in Mustang?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup, where available. Checkout shows the dates you can choose. Arrange disconnection, removal and the move outside first, then have the fixture ready by the time in your confirmation. We text you before arrival and provide pickup photos when it is done.

Will you disconnect a sink or take a door off its hinges?

The fixture must already be detached, disconnected and accessible outside at ground level. Arrange plumbing, electrical work, removal from walls or hinges, and indoor carrying before pickup. Dropcurb handles loading and haul-away from your outdoor pickup spot.

Can I add bags of drywall, tile or other demolition waste?

Mixed drywall, tile, concrete, lumber and demolition rubble are not accepted. This page offers pickup for the listed doors, toilets and bathroom vanities that are already removed. Do not book loose building materials as household trash bags or as an extra item. Arrange suitable disposal for those materials with your contractor or a debris specialist.

Can a door, toilet and vanity go in the same pickup?

Yes. Add each listed fixture separately and choose the correct vanity size. Each detached door panel counts as one item. The combined price appears before you book. Keep the fixtures together outside, separate from anything staying, and add a location photo on your order page.

Will Mustang take construction material?

No. The city ordinance states that all construction waste, whether placed by a contractor or a resident, is the owner's responsibility for disposal, and the spring and fall clean-up regulations refuse construction and demolition materials as well as concrete, rocks and bricks. Dirt, rock and grass with clods are also banned from the poly carts, so a renovation load has to go to private disposal.Official guidance

Who runs sanitation in Mustang?

The City of Mustang does, serving about 8,100 residential and commercial customers with curbside collection once a week for residential accounts and the poly cart at the kerb by 7:00 a.m. on the scheduled trash day. Sanitation questions go to City Hall at 376-4521, the utilities office is at 1501 N Mustang Rd. and answers 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday to Thursday and 8:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Friday, and the after-hours emergency number is 376-2488.Official guidance

What does a Mustang clean-up week cost?

The city publishes the clean-up dates and rules but no separate fee, so the charge has to come from City Hall at 376-4521. The ordinance says special collections and pickups for additional bags and other refuse run with prior arrangements and fees set by resolution that are added to the resident's monthly utility bill, which is why the packet treats the clean-up and roll-off as confirm items rather than quoting a figure.Official guidance

What will the Mustang clean-up crew refuse?

Pieces of concrete, rocks and bricks are refused, along with construction and demolition material, hazardous liquid substances including batteries, paints, tires and oils, and dead animals. Loose debris, or anything placed next to a mailbox, fence, utility meter or other structure, is not picked up at all, poly carts are never collected, and debris that does not follow the regulations is left behind with no notice for the resident to deal with.Official guidance

How does Mustang curbside recycling work?

It is an opt-in programme run with the Oklahoma Environmental Management Authority on a signed participation form that commits the household for at least one year and can be ended with thirty days notice. The published charge is added to the monthly City of Mustang utility bill, the programme needs a minimum of 500 households signed up to start and to continue, and it accepts paper, cardboard, cartons, junk mail, aluminium and steel cans, plastic bottles and glass bottles and jars, while refusing plastic bags of any kind, hazardous waste containers, clothing, foam and bubble wrap, windows, mirrors, ceramics, dishes, light bulbs, books, frozen food boxes, photographs, diapers, yard waste and food.Official guidance
