Match the screen

Flat screen or tube? Start with the shape.

The TV’s type and size determine which item to choose. A new model and an old model can use the same option if their shape and screen size match.

Flat-screen TVs

Measure the screen diagonally, corner to corner, without the frame. Choose under 42 inches or 42 inches and larger. A TV measuring exactly 42 inches belongs to the larger option.

Tube TVs

An older tube or CRT television has curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Choose Tube TV even if its screen is small. A rear-projection TV is different; send a photo before booking so we can check the fit.

TV stands and other electronics

The TV price covers the television. Add a media console, computer monitor or other item separately if it is going too. Choose only what you want removed and review the combined price.

TV removal in Eugene: start with the item’s collection rules, then choose the arrangement that fits.

Collection comes from a licensed hauler, not a city crew

Special rules apply

Eugene licenses the haulers that collect residential garbage, recycling and yard debris inside the city limits, issues no more than eight licenses, requires every licensee to provide curbside recycling and yard debris collection, and sets the minimum rates the licensees may charge, which a hauler may exceed by up to ten percent.

City cost & eligibility
No single municipal collection price applies, because the city sets a minimum rate schedule and each licensed hauler may charge up to ten percent above it, so confirm the container size, the collection frequency, the food waste or yard debris option and the current charge with the hauler that serves the address.
When & how
Basic residential service is a monthly subscription at a container size and collection frequency: twenty gallon monthly, thirty two gallon every other week, thirty two gallon weekly, sixty gallon weekly or ninety gallon weekly, with the smallest container limited to non putrescible material.
Get it ready
Choose the container and frequency the household actually fills, because the schedule prices larger containers and weekly service higher, and keep unacceptable materials out of every container so the load is not refused or assessed the contamination fee.

Televisions, computers and electronics

Not on the regular city route

Computers, monitors and televisions are named unacceptable materials in the city collection rule, so they cannot go in a garbage or recycling container. Eugene routes them to Lane County's household hazardous waste collection center at Glenwood, where collections run most Thursdays and Saturdays by appointment and are free for households, and to NextStep Recycling, St. Vincent de Paul and Goodwill.

City cost & eligibility
The city names the routes but publishes no per device price: the county's household hazardous waste collection is free for households by appointment and charges minimal fees to businesses, while the reuse and recycling organizations set their own terms, so confirm the route and any charge before dropping an item off.
When & how
County household hazardous waste collections are scheduled most Thursdays and Saturdays and need an appointment, which can be booked in the Lane County waste wise app or by telephone.
Get it ready
Keep batteries in a separate container rather than loose in a bin, keep the device out of the curbside containers, and enter the Glenwood collection center through the center lane and stay in the vehicle so staff can unload the material.

The curbside set out window

A customer may put solid waste, recycling, yard debris and organics containers at the curb no earlier than 7 p.m. on the day before the scheduled collection, and must take the empty containers back in no later than midnight on the collection day. The city also asks that empty garbage and recycling bins stay at the curb no more than twenty four hours, and a container may not leave the unobstructed paved part of a sidewalk less than three feet wide.

Licensed private haulers under City of Eugene rate regulation, with Lane County transfer stations for self haul

Set up a licensed hauler for the address

Any household inside the Eugene city limits, because the city licenses the collectors of residential garbage, recycling and yard debris rather than operating its own crew

Cost & conditions
The city sets a minimum monthly schedule by container size and frequency and each hauler may charge up to ten percent above it, so the household confirms its own container, frequency and current charge with the hauler it chooses.
Arrange it
Contact one of the licensed haulers directly to start, change or stop service, and arrange extras, on call collections and bulk item pick ups with that same hauler.

The licensed haulers may collect from any area in the city, so there is no fixed municipal collection day; tires, major appliances, computers, monitors and televisions are unacceptable in the containers.

Book a household hazardous waste appointment

Paint, cleaners, pool and lawn products, batteries, fluorescent lamps and anything labeled danger, warning, flammable or caustic

Cost & conditions

Arrange it
Book through the Lane County waste wise app or by telephone, then enter the Glenwood transfer station through the center lane and follow the signs to the collection center, where staff unload the vehicle.

Collections are scheduled most Thursdays and Saturdays only, and an appointment is required, so material should not be taken to a transfer station without one.

Lane County hazardous waste

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Self haul in Lane County means a transfer station rather than a landfill, because Short Mountain Landfill is the only permitted municipal landfill in the county and it is closed to public access, open to authorized commercial account holders only. The Glenwood transfer station at 3100 E. 17th in Eugene is the site closest to most of the city: it runs Monday through Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and, from April through September, Sunday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., with the Sunday hours closed in the winter months. Thirteen rural sites run on their own reduced day patterns, from Cottage Grove and Creswell to Florence, Veneta, Oakridge, Marcola, McKenzie Bridge, Vida-Leaburg, Low Pass, Swisshome, London, Rattlesnake and Sharps Creek, and rural customers are limited to ten cubic yards of garbage per day. Garbage is priced by the cubic yard at the rural sites and by the ton at Glenwood and Florence, from a minimum fee that covers the first cubic yard, with rock, dirt, stumps and roofing on a higher rubble table than ordinary construction and demolition material. Appliances are charged per appliance at every site except Sharps Creek, mattresses and box springs recycle free at Glenwood only and are charged as garbage everywhere else, wood waste and yard debris take the recovery rate at Cottage Grove, Glenwood and Florence when the load is more than half wood or yard material, tires are limited to twenty inches and ten per day, and propane or helium tanks up to five gallons are taken for a fee. Household hazardous waste does not go through the transfer station lanes: paint, batteries, lamps and labeled products are booked into the county collection center at Glenwood by appointment, free to households and on most Thursdays and Saturdays. Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

TV removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Eugene.

How much does TV removal cost in Eugene?

A flat-screen TV under 42 inches is $79 as the first item and $19 as an additional item. Larger flat screens and tube TVs have their own prices. Loading, transportation and disposal are included. Choose the type that matches your TV and review your total, including any applicable tax, before payment.

Can I get same-day TV pickup in Eugene?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup. Choose from the dates offered at checkout and have the TV outside according to your confirmation. We text you when your hauler is on the way and provide photos when the pickup is done.

Will Dropcurb remove my TV from the wall or carry it downstairs?

You arrange unmounting, disconnection and indoor carrying before pickup. Dropcurb starts at an accessible outdoor location, where we load your TV and take it away. If you need help removing a mounted TV or moving a heavy tube TV outside, arrange that separately before your pickup day.

Do you pick up old tube or CRT televisions?

Yes. Choose Tube TV for an older television with curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Its price is $249 as the first item and $249 as an additional item. A rear-projection television is a different item; send a photo before booking rather than choosing the tube-TV option.

Does my old TV have to work?

Your TV does not need to turn on for removal. Choose its type and size and arrange to have it outside before pickup. A non-working TV and a TV with exposed broken glass are different situations; send a photo of unusual damage so we can confirm the plan before you book.

Can a Eugene household choose any licensed hauler?

Yes. The city licenses the collectors of residential solid waste, yard debris and residential recyclables, limits the field to eight licensees at a time, and its haulers page states that haulers may collect from any area in Eugene, so service starts by contacting one of the licensed companies rather than by any address based franchise boundary.Official guidance

Where do Eugene televisions and computers go?

The city's electronic waste page routes computers, cell phones, televisions and printers to Lane County Waste Management, NextStep Recycling, St. Vincent de Paul and Goodwill, and the county's collection center at Glenwood takes batteries and lamps by appointment most Thursdays and Saturdays. None of those devices belongs in a curbside container, because televisions and computers are unacceptable materials in the city rule.Official guidance

Who handles trash collection in Eugene?

Licensed private haulers, not a city crew. Eugene City Code requires a solid waste collection license for anyone collecting residential garbage, recycling or yard debris in the city, caps the number of licenses at eight, and obligates every licensee to provide curbside recycling and yard debris collection, while the city sets the minimum rates the licensees may charge.Official guidance

How is curbside service priced in Eugene?

By container size and collection frequency on a city schedule that every licensed hauler must respect as a minimum, with haulers allowed to charge up to ten percent above it. Basic service includes garbage and curbside recycling, and most households add every other week food waste and yard debris collection; extras are priced per thirty two gallon unit, bulk items carry a minimum service fee plus a per item range, and the schedule also lists a pack out charge, a container exchange fee and a contamination fee.Official guidance

What cannot go in a Eugene curbside container?

The city collection rule lists unacceptable materials as hazardous materials, chemicals, paint, corrosive materials, lead acid batteries, dead animals, infectious waste, semi solid wastes, tires, major appliances, flammable materials, hot ashes, computers, monitors and televisions, and the customer may not place any of those in a garbage, recycling, yard debris, commercial food waste or organics receptacle.Official guidance

Can extra bags be left beside the container in Eugene?

Yes, as an extra or a bulk item arranged with the hauler. An extra is material that fits into a thirty two gallon container without being altered and that exceeds the subscribed container, and the city rate schedule prices it per unit, while the bulk rate covers individual items at the curb with a minimum service fee and a per item range the hauler applies at its discretion.Official guidance

What does Lane County accept at its transfer stations?

Household garbage, construction and demolition material, rubble, roofing, rock, dirt and stumps, wood waste and yard debris, appliances, mattresses and box springs, tires up to twenty inches and propane tanks up to five gallons, with appliances charged per appliance, mattresses free to recycle at Glenwood only, and the county landfill at Short Mountain closed to the public. Household hazardous waste is booked into the collection center at Glenwood by appointment rather than dropped in the transfer station lanes.Official guidance
