Match the screen

Flat screen or tube? Start with the shape.

The TV’s type and size determine which item to choose. A new model and an old model can use the same option if their shape and screen size match.

Flat-screen TVs

Measure the screen diagonally, corner to corner, without the frame. Choose under 42 inches or 42 inches and larger. A TV measuring exactly 42 inches belongs to the larger option.

Tube TVs

An older tube or CRT television has curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Choose Tube TV even if its screen is small. A rear-projection TV is different; send a photo before booking so we can check the fit.

TV stands and other electronics

The TV price covers the television. Add a media console, computer monitor or other item separately if it is going too. Choose only what you want removed and review the combined price.

Televisions, computers and electronics

Accepted with preparation

Electronics have two published routes. The cleanup day accepts televisions, DVD and VCR players, stereo equipment and speakers, computers, monitors, printers, other hardware and lamps, up to five e-waste items, and Oregon E-Cycles takes up to seven qualifying devices at a time to a collection site for free recycling.

City cost & eligibility
No charge. Clackamas County states that up to seven qualifying items at a time can be taken to an Oregon E-Cycles collection site for free recycling, covering computers, monitors, televisions, printers, keyboards and mice, and the cleanup day also accepts up to five items of e-waste inside its annual allowance.
When & how
Use an Oregon E-Cycles collection site at any time, or include up to five e-waste items in the annual cleanup day booked on 503-557-3900.
Get it ready
Wipe personal data before a computer or phone leaves the house, keep the devices out of the garbage and recycling containers because Oregon bans disposal of computers, monitors and televisions as garbage, and note that the cleanup allowance for e-waste is five items while the state programme takes up to seven at a time.

One cleanup day a year is the city's answer to large items

West Linn Refuse & Recycling runs a Personalized Clean-up Day that replaced the curbside cleanup day the city's hauler used to hold, and the city publishes the terms. It is available to residential West Linn customers who reside inside city limits with an active residential account in good standing, and the household calls to schedule one pickup within the calendar year, requesting it one week in advance of the regular collection day on 503-557-3900. Items that can go out are appliances, electronics, mattress sets, furniture, metal items, carpet, or up to five refuse cans that the customer has bagged, boxed, bundled or containerized. Participation is one of four published allowances: five bags or bundles of non-putrescible items at up to 60 pounds each, up to two large bulky appliances, two large bulky items, or five items of e-waste, and the flyer adds that additional items may be scheduled for an extra fee.

Four categories are refused, and freon appliances are the important one

The cleanup flyer carries an unacceptable list that shapes the rest of this guide. Construction debris such as concrete, plaster and dirt is refused. Oversized items such as pianos and hot tubs are refused. Tires are refused. And appliances containing freon, such as refrigerators, freezers and air conditioners, are refused, which separates them from the washers, dryers, water heaters, stoves and other large appliances without freon that the same flyer accepts. The acceptable side also names small appliances such as toaster ovens, electronics including televisions, DVD and VCR players, stereo equipment, speakers, computers, monitors, printers and lamps, and mattresses in all sizes with foundations and box springs, so a household has to sort its load against both lists before calling.

Everything the cleanup day refuses has a published home elsewhere

Electronics do not depend on the annual cleanup day, because Oregon E-Cycles collection sites take up to seven qualifying devices at a time for free recycling under a statewide programme, and paint has its own free route through PaintCare, which recycles paint, primers, stains and sealers at no fee. Household chemicals go to the Metro South Household Hazardous Waste Facility at 2001 Washington St in Oregon City, open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily and closed Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day, and the Metro find a recycler tool and 503-234-3000 answer anything unclear. Renovation material goes through the hauler's cleanup containers or a self hauled load to a county transfer station, where the Clackamas County Transfer Station at 19600 SE Canyon Valley Rd in Sandy is open Thursday to Monday with a last load at 4:30 p.m. and the Metro South Transfer Station in Oregon City is open daily, with both closed on the three holidays, and where the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality requires asbestos testing and documentation before construction, demolition or remodeling debris can be disposed of.

Book the annual Personalized Clean-up Day

A residential West Linn customer inside city limits with an active account in good standing and an appliance, electronics, a mattress set, furniture, metal items, carpet or refuse cans to clear.

Cost & conditions
The city and the hauler publish the program, the item list and the four allowance options but no price for the cleanup day itself, and the flyer states that additional items may be scheduled for an extra fee. Confirm what the allowance covers and what an extra item costs with West Linn Refuse & Recycling on 503-557-3900.
Arrange it
Call 503-557-3900 once within the calendar year, at least one week before the regular collection day, and put the chosen allowance out for the scheduled pickup.

One pickup a calendar year, city limits only, an account in good standing, one of four allowances rather than a mix, and construction debris, oversized items such as pianos and hot tubs, tires and freon appliances are refused.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

West Linn keeps large items inside a single annual program and then leans on county and statewide routes for everything that program refuses. West Linn Refuse & Recycling, the city's franchised hauler, runs a Personalized Clean-up Day for residential customers inside city limits with an account in good standing, scheduled once within the calendar year by calling 503-557-3900 at least a week before the regular collection day. Appliances, electronics, mattress sets, furniture, metal items, carpet and up to five refuse cans can be placed out, but participation is one of four published allowances: five bags or bundles of non-putrescible items at up to 60 pounds each, up to two large bulky appliances, two large bulky items, or five items of e-waste, and additional items may be scheduled for an extra fee. The flyer's unacceptable list is the reason the other routes exist. Construction debris such as concrete, plaster and dirt is refused, oversized items such as pianos and hot tubs are refused, tires are refused, and appliances containing freon such as refrigerators, freezers and air conditioners are refused while washers, dryers, water heaters and stoves without freon are accepted. For the refused material the published routes are county and statewide: Oregon E-Cycles collection sites take up to seven qualifying electronics at a time for free recycling, PaintCare recycles paint, primers, stains and sealers at no fee, the Metro South Household Hazardous Waste Facility at 2001 Washington St in Oregon City takes household chemicals daily from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. except the three major holidays, and self hauled loads can go to the Clackamas County Transfer Station at 19600 SE Canyon Valley Rd in Sandy, open Thursday to Monday with a last load at 4:30 p.m., or to the Metro South Transfer Station on the same Oregon City site, open daily from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. in the warmer months and 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. in winter, with asbestos testing and documentation required before construction, demolition or remodeling debris is disposed of. Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

TV removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in West Linn.

How much does TV removal cost in West Linn?

A flat-screen TV under 42 inches is $79 as the first item and $19 as an additional item. Larger flat screens and tube TVs have their own prices. Loading, transportation and disposal are included. Choose the type that matches your TV and review your total, including any applicable tax, before payment.

Can I get same-day TV pickup in West Linn?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup. Choose from the dates offered at checkout and have the TV outside according to your confirmation. We text you when your hauler is on the way and provide photos when the pickup is done.

Will Dropcurb remove my TV from the wall or carry it downstairs?

You arrange unmounting, disconnection and indoor carrying before pickup. Dropcurb starts at an accessible outdoor location, where we load your TV and take it away. If you need help removing a mounted TV or moving a heavy tube TV outside, arrange that separately before your pickup day.

Do you pick up old tube or CRT televisions?

Yes. Choose Tube TV for an older television with curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Its price is $249 as the first item and $249 as an additional item. A rear-projection television is a different item; send a photo before booking rather than choosing the tube-TV option.

Does my old TV have to work?

Your TV does not need to turn on for removal. Choose its type and size and arrange to have it outside before pickup. A non-working TV and a TV with exposed broken glass are different situations; send a photo of unusual damage so we can confirm the plan before you book.

Where can I take a television in West Linn?

Two published routes. The annual Personalized Clean-up Day accepts electronics including televisions, DVD and VCR players, stereo equipment, speakers, computers, monitors, printers and lamps, with up to five e-waste items allowed, and Oregon E-Cycles collection sites take up to seven qualifying devices at a time for free recycling anywhere in the state.Official guidance

What are the four allowance options?

Participation is one of the following: five bags or bundles of non-putrescible items with a 60 pound limit each, or up to two large bulky appliances, or two large bulky items, or five items of e-waste. The household chooses one option rather than combining them, and the flyer states that additional items may be scheduled for an extra fee, so the load should be sorted before the pickup is booked on 503-557-3900.Official guidance
