Match your item

Construction cleanup starts with the right items.

We currently accept the doors, toilets and bathroom vanities listed here, already detached and ready outside. Choose each item separately. Mixed drywall, tile, concrete, lumber and demolition rubble are not accepted, including in bags.

Doors

Count each detached door panel separately. Have it removed from its hinges before pickup. A whole installed doorway or garage door is not the same item.

Toilets

Choose Toilet for an ordinary household toilet that has already been disconnected, drained and moved outside. Text a photo before booking if yours is broken or has loose sharp pieces.

Bathroom vanities

Choose the small, standard or large bathroom vanity that matches your sink cabinet. A makeup table has a separate choice. Plumbing disconnection and removal from the wall happen before pickup.

Remodeling and construction debris

Special rules apply

The city takes only what fits the regular trash rules: lumber and wood must be cut and bundled to 3 feet and 40 pounds, and shingles, dirt, stone and similar material are refused outright. The county small load area takes a defined construction list at the tonnage rate.

City cost & eligibility
From $20 for minimum fee for a small load up to 470 pounds at the York County Resource Recovery Center, where the general rate is 85 dollars per ton and tire-only loads are 200 dollars per ton. York County residents delivering their own small load, paid in cash, by check or by credit card other than American Express, with a 3.50 dollar service fee on card payments.
When & how
Use the small load drop-off area Monday to Friday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. or Saturday 8 a.m. to noon, and check in with the weigh master at the inbound scale.
Get it ready
Sort to the county's limits: lumber including pressure treated no longer than 6 feet and no more than 6 inches in diameter, carpet and padding no longer than 6 feet and carryable by one person, fencing no larger than 6 feet by 6 feet with no concrete on the posts, and drywall, tile, glass, insulation or cement board inside two 42 gallon contractor bags each.

The handoff matters

Right item.
Right place.

Tires and fluids have their own rules

Up to two passenger tires off the rim can ride with regular trash, with each tire replacing one bag inside the normal limit, but a tire on the rim has to be scheduled as a large item and the limit is two. Commercial customers may not put tires out at all, and the county charges by the ton when a load is nothing but tires. Drain the gas and oil from a lawn mower before it goes out, and keep paint, chemicals and other hazardous material out of the trash because the county runs registered collection events and a drop-off for those instead.

Drop a small load at the Resource Recovery Center

A household with furniture, a mattress, metal items, a refrigerant appliance, yard waste, electronics or a small construction load and its own vehicle.

Cost & conditions
From $20 for minimum fee for a small load up to 470 pounds, with the general rate at 85 dollars per ton, tire-only loads at 200 dollars per ton and a 3.50 dollar service fee on credit card payments. York County residents delivering their own load, paid in cash, by check or by credit card other than American Express.
Arrange it
Drive to 2651 Blackbridge Road, take the second gate entrance, check in with the weigh master and unload in the small load area between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday to Friday or 8 a.m. and noon on Saturday.

Asbestos, clay, concrete and slate shingles, railroad ties, sand, soil, stone, gravel and solar panels are refused, while asphalt, metal, vinyl and wood shake shingles are accepted up to one pickup truck or small trailer load per disposal. Refrigerant appliances must have the Freon removed by staff rather than by the customer, and this is a drop-off site rather than a collection service.

City of York Public Works with ESC Waste Services and the York County Solid Waste Authority

Use a county hazardous waste event or the recovery center

A household with paint, solvents, fuels, pesticides, pool chemicals, mercury devices, fluorescent bulbs or similar material.

Cost & conditions
This route covers household chemicals such as paint, solvents and pesticides rather than construction debris. The free events require registration, and the center charges the general tonnage rate for a drop-off, so confirm the material and any fee before loading.
Arrange it
Register for the spring or fall event, which runs 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. behind the Recycling Drop-Off Center, or take the material to the Resource Recovery Center between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. on a weekday or 8 a.m. and noon on Saturday.

The center does not accept mercury containing devices, pressurized gas tanks, rechargeable batteries, pool chemicals, flares, weapons, ammunition or radioactive material, and it limits fuel to one gallon per visit and fluorescent bulbs or tubes to five per visit.

With a new purchase

Send refused material to a private hauler or landfill

A household with asbestos, clay, concrete or slate shingles, a large demolition load, or another material the city will not schedule and the county small load area will not take.

Cost & conditions
Neither the city nor the county publishes a rate for this material, so the hauler or landfill quotes the load. Confirm the accepted material and the price before the material is loaded.
Arrange it
Call the waste hauler or a landfill directly, describe the material and the quantity, and confirm the disposal location and price.

The city refuses shingles, propane tanks, car parts, rocks, dirt and similar material outright, and the county small load area refuses asbestos, clay, concrete and slate shingles, railroad ties, sand, soil, stone, gravel and solar panels, while it does take asphalt, metal, vinyl and wood shake shingles up to one pickup truck or small trailer load, so this is the route for the rest.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

York has two layers of self-haul. The city side is the scheduled large item service: up to five furniture pieces, mattresses or appliances a week at no additional fee, booked seven to ten days ahead through the Public Works request form, with the item going out between 5 p.m. the night before and 6 a.m. on the scheduled day. The county side is the York County Resource Recovery Center at 2651 Blackbridge Road, open Monday to Friday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday 8 a.m. to noon, where a small load is charged at $85 per ton with a $20 minimum for the first 470 pounds and tire-only loads run at $200 per ton, paid in cash or by check or a credit card other than American Express. The small load area takes furniture, mattresses, metal items, refrigerant appliances with the Freon removed, yard waste, electronics and a defined construction list, refuses asbestos, clay, concrete and slate shingles while taking asphalt, metal, vinyl and wood shake shingles up to one pickup truck or small trailer load per disposal, and refuses railroad ties, sand, soil, stone, gravel and solar panels. Electronics are free to drop through the county programme, with a five television limit per visit, and household chemicals go to the registered spring and fall events or to the center within its published limits. Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

Construction debris removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in York PA.

How much does construction debris removal cost in York PA?

Pricing is per accepted item. A detached door is $99 as a single item, an ordinary toilet is $79, and a small bathroom vanity is $99. Larger vanities have their own choices. Select the listed items to see the exact combined price. These prices do not cover mixed rubble or loose building materials. Loading, transportation and disposal are included; applicable sales tax appears before payment.

Can I get same-day toilet or vanity pickup in York PA?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup, where available. Checkout shows the dates you can choose. Arrange disconnection, removal and the move outside first, then have the fixture ready by the time in your confirmation. We text you before arrival and provide pickup photos when it is done.

Will you disconnect a sink or take a door off its hinges?

The fixture must already be detached, disconnected and accessible outside at ground level. Arrange plumbing, electrical work, removal from walls or hinges, and indoor carrying before pickup. Dropcurb handles loading and haul-away from your outdoor pickup spot.

Can I add bags of drywall, tile or other demolition waste?

Mixed drywall, tile, concrete, lumber and demolition rubble are not accepted. This page offers pickup for the listed doors, toilets and bathroom vanities that are already removed. Do not book loose building materials as household trash bags or as an extra item. Arrange suitable disposal for those materials with your contractor or a debris specialist.

Can a door, toilet and vanity go in the same pickup?

Yes. Add each listed fixture separately and choose the correct vanity size. Each detached door panel counts as one item. The combined price appears before you book. Keep the fixtures together outside, separate from anything staying, and add a location photo on your order page.

Where does York construction debris go?

Small quantities of wood and lumber ride with the regular trash only if they are cut and bundled to a maximum of 3 feet and 40 pounds. Everything else goes to the York County Resource Recovery Center small load area, which takes fixtures, doors, flooring, drywall and similar material within its published limits, takes asphalt, metal, vinyl and wood shake shingles up to one pickup truck or small trailer load per disposal, and refuses asbestos, clay, concrete and slate shingles along with railroad ties, sand, soil, stone, gravel and solar panels.Official guidance

What does the county drop-off cost?

The York County Resource Recovery Center charges $85 per ton with a $20 minimum for loads up to 470 pounds, and a proportionate charge above that, while a load that is only tires runs at $200 per ton. Payment is cash, check or a credit card other than American Express, with a $3.50 service fee on card payments.Official guidance

When are the household hazardous waste events?

The county holds two events a year, one in the spring and one in the fall, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. behind its Recycling Drop-Off Center, free for York County residents but with registration required. The fall 2026 event is October 17, and household chemicals can also be taken to the Resource Recovery Center except for mercury devices, pressurized gas tanks, rechargeable batteries, pool chemicals, flares, weapons, ammunition and radioactive material.Official guidance
