Match the screen

Flat screen or tube? Start with the shape.

The TV’s type and size determine which item to choose. A new model and an old model can use the same option if their shape and screen size match.

Flat-screen TVs

Measure the screen diagonally, corner to corner, without the frame. Choose under 42 inches or 42 inches and larger. A TV measuring exactly 42 inches belongs to the larger option.

Tube TVs

An older tube or CRT television has curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Choose Tube TV even if its screen is small. A rear-projection TV is different; send a photo before booking so we can check the fit.

TV stands and other electronics

The TV price covers the television. Add a media console, computer monitor or other item separately if it is going too. Choose only what you want removed and review the combined price.

Text us about your setup
  1. Arrange any unmounting first.

Dropcurb does not remove TVs from walls or do indoor carrying. Arrange the help you need before pickup day, including the trip down interior stairs or through an elevator.

  2. Choose a permitted outdoor spot.

Use a stable, accessible location with a clear path for loading. Keep the TV separate from anything staying. Check building rules before placing it in a shared pickup area.

  3. Show us the TV that is going.

Add a location photo and access notes after booking. Follow the readiness instructions in your confirmation. For exposed broken glass or unusual damage, send a photo and check with us before booking.

Televisions, computers and electronics

Accepted with preparation

Pennsylvania's Covered Device Recycling Act bans televisions, computers, monitors and peripherals from disposal, so the city will not schedule them and the county's free electronics programme takes them instead. The programme runs six days a week and limits televisions to five per resident per visit.

City cost & eligibility
No charge. Free for York County residents at the county electronics programme, which takes computers, monitors, peripherals, televisions and a long list of other devices. Businesses use a separate programme.
When & how
Deliver the devices Monday to Friday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. or Saturday 8 a.m. to noon. The city's large item service will not schedule them at all.
Get it ready
Wipe personal data before handover, keep the devices out of the trash and out of the large item pile, and leave refrigerant appliances, electric motors, smoke detectors and oil radiant heaters out of an electronics load because the programme refuses them.

Cost & conditions
No charge. Free for York County residents at the county electronics programme, which covers computers, monitors, peripherals, televisions and many other devices. Businesses use a separate programme.
Arrange it
Deliver the devices between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday to Friday or 8 a.m. and noon on Saturday, and keep the load inside the programme limits, including a maximum of five televisions per resident per visit.

Refrigerant appliances, electric motors, lava lamps, oil radiant heaters and smoke detectors are refused, and Best Buy or Goodwill are named as other drop-off options for devices the household would rather take elsewhere.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

York has two layers of self-haul. The city side is the scheduled large item service: up to five furniture pieces, mattresses or appliances a week at no additional fee, booked seven to ten days ahead through the Public Works request form, with the item going out between 5 p.m. the night before and 6 a.m. on the scheduled day. The county side is the York County Resource Recovery Center at 2651 Blackbridge Road, open Monday to Friday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday 8 a.m. to noon, where a small load is charged at $85 per ton with a $20 minimum for the first 470 pounds and tire-only loads run at $200 per ton, paid in cash or by check or a credit card other than American Express. The small load area takes furniture, mattresses, metal items, refrigerant appliances with the Freon removed, yard waste, electronics and a defined construction list, refuses asbestos, clay, concrete and slate shingles while taking asphalt, metal, vinyl and wood shake shingles up to one pickup truck or small trailer load per disposal, and refuses railroad ties, sand, soil, stone, gravel and solar panels. Electronics are free to drop through the county programme, with a five television limit per visit, and household chemicals go to the registered spring and fall events or to the center within its published limits. Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

TV removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in York PA.

How much does TV removal cost in York PA?

A flat-screen TV under 42 inches is $79 as the first item and $19 as an additional item. Larger flat screens and tube TVs have their own prices. Loading, transportation and disposal are included. Choose the type that matches your TV and review your total, including any applicable tax, before payment.

Can I get same-day TV pickup in York PA?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup. Choose from the dates offered at checkout and have the TV outside according to your confirmation. We text you when your hauler is on the way and provide photos when the pickup is done.

Will Dropcurb remove my TV from the wall or carry it downstairs?

You arrange unmounting, disconnection and indoor carrying before pickup. Dropcurb starts at an accessible outdoor location, where we load your TV and take it away. If you need help removing a mounted TV or moving a heavy tube TV outside, arrange that separately before your pickup day.

Do you pick up old tube or CRT televisions?

Yes. Choose Tube TV for an older television with curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Its price is $249 as the first item and $249 as an additional item. A rear-projection television is a different item; send a photo before booking rather than choosing the tube-TV option.

Does my old TV have to work?

Your TV does not need to turn on for removal. Choose its type and size and arrange to have it outside before pickup. A non-working TV and a TV with exposed broken glass are different situations; send a photo of unusual damage so we can confirm the plan before you book.

Where do York televisions and computers go?

To the county's free electronics programme, because Pennsylvania law bans televisions, computers, monitors and peripherals from disposal, and the city large item service will not schedule them. The programme is open Monday to Friday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday 8 a.m. to noon, with a limit of five televisions per resident per visit.Official guidance

Can a television go in the trash or the large item pile?

No. Pennsylvania bans televisions, computers, monitors and peripherals from disposal, the city large item service will not schedule them, and the county runs a free electronics programme instead. Televisions are limited to five per resident per visit there.Official guidance
