Match your item

Construction cleanup starts with the right items.

We currently accept the doors, toilets and bathroom vanities listed here, already detached and ready outside. Choose each item separately. Mixed drywall, tile, concrete, lumber and demolition rubble are not accepted, including in bags.

Doors

Count each detached door panel separately. Have it removed from its hinges before pickup. A whole installed doorway or garage door is not the same item.

Toilets

Choose Toilet for an ordinary household toilet that has already been disconnected, drained and moved outside. Text a photo before booking if yours is broken or has loose sharp pieces.

Bathroom vanities

Choose the small, standard or large bathroom vanity that matches your sink cabinet. A makeup table has a separate choice. Plumbing disconnection and removal from the wall happen before pickup.

Remodeling and construction debris

Not on the regular city route

Construction material has no curb route in Mount Pleasant. Landscaping and construction material cannot go in the roll cart or the trash pile, and bricks, concrete, tree stumps and contractor-generated debris are named as uncollectible, with the contractor responsible for hauled-away debris.

City cost & eligibility
The Town publishes no construction rate. It directs landscape and construction material to the landfill separately and names the county's Awendaw Convenience Center and Bees Ferry Landfill for the material it will not take, and Charleston County's own pages could not be read in this run, so confirm the receiving site and the charge with the county on 843-720-7111.
When & how
Arrange the container or the receiving site before the work produces debris. The Town sends landscape and construction material to the landfill separately, and a contractor performing construction, demolition, remodelling or landscaping is responsible for hauling that debris away.
Get it ready
Keep construction material out of the roll cart, because the Town states that landscape or construction material in the cart prevents the garbage from being collected, and keep it out of the trash pile, which is limited to named debris and reusable household goods. Keep tree limbs at 4 feet or shorter and no larger than 8 inches in diameter, and note that stumps are never collected.

The handoff matters

Only town carts, only household garbage, and back in within 12 hours

Mount Pleasant issues one 90-gallon or one 65-gallon roll cart at no cost, with a second cart available for a fee through Public Services, and only two carts are allowed per property. The cart has to be at the curb by 7 a.m. with the handles facing the house and comes back in within 12 hours of collection. What goes inside is household garbage, cardboard boxes broken down and put in the cart rather than beside it, and residential medical waste, and sharps must be in a sharps container or a heavy plastic or metal container that is puncture resistant, tightly lidded, marked not recyclable, no more than three quarters full and never glass. Landscape and construction material in the cart stops the garbage from being collected at all, and a container that is not town issued is not collected.

Four categories that never go to the Mount Pleasant curb

Electronics are excluded by environmental rule, so televisions, computers and other electronic equipment go to a Charleston County drop site or a big box store and not to the cart, the trash pile or the recycling. Hazardous material such as old pesticides and creosote materials, used oil, batteries and wet paint are refused, with oil going to the Town's maintenance facility on Sweetgrass Basket Parkway at no more than 5 gallons a visit and paint and chemicals going to the county's Awendaw Convenience Center or Bees Ferry Landfill. Compact fluorescent bulbs may not go in the garbage or trash because of mercury and are taken unbroken to a county convenience centre or a store collection bin. Propane tanks go back where they were purchased or to a hazardous waste collection day, never into a cart.

Town of Mount Pleasant Public Services Department, with Charleston County Environmental Management running recycling and the disposal sites

Use the Charleston County sites for recycling and refused material

A household with recyclables, electronics, household chemicals, paint or landscape and construction material that the Town will not take.

Cost & conditions
The Town names the county drop sites, the Awendaw Convenience Center and Bees Ferry Landfill without publishing a charge, and Charleston County's own pages could not be read in this run, so confirm the site, the hours and any fee with Charleston County on 843-720-7111.
Arrange it
Charleston County collects residential recycling at the curb every other week and runs drop sites in the Town that take paper including cardboard, plastics numbered 1 through 7, aluminum and steel cans, and glass bottles and jars. Household cleaners, chemicals and paint go to the county's Awendaw Convenience Center or Bees Ferry Landfill, and compact fluorescent bulbs go to a county convenience centre that accepts them or to a store collection bin.

This is a county service rather than a Town service, the county's own pages could not be read to confirm hours or charges, and the Town publishes no address for the Awendaw Convenience Center or Bees Ferry Landfill. Electronics are not accepted at the curb and have to be taken to one of these sites or to a big box store.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Self haul in Mount Pleasant is mostly a county trip, because the Town's own collections cover the curb and leave the rest to Charleston County. The Town takes used motor oil and oyster shells only at its maintenance facility on Sweetgrass Basket Parkway, with a five gallon per visit limit on the oil and residential use only. Everything else that the curb refuses goes to a county site: electronics to a Charleston County drop-off site or a big box electronic store, hazardous material such as household cleaners, chemicals and paint to the county's Awendaw Convenience Center or Bees Ferry Landfill, compact fluorescent bulbs unbroken to a county convenience centre or a store collection bin, and landscape and construction material disposed of separately at the landfill because it cannot go in the cart or the trash pile. Charleston County also runs the curbside recycling every other week and the drop sites in the Town that take paper, plastics numbered 1 through 7, cans and glass. The Town publishes no address for the county landfill or the Awendaw centre and no county charge, so the county number 843-720-7111 is the confirmation step before any trip. Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

Construction debris removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Mount Pleasant.

How much does construction debris removal cost in Mount Pleasant?

Pricing is per accepted item. A detached door is $99 as a single item, an ordinary toilet is $79, and a small bathroom vanity is $99. Larger vanities have their own choices. Select the listed items to see the exact combined price. These prices do not cover mixed rubble or loose building materials. Loading, transportation and disposal are included; applicable sales tax appears before payment.

Can I get same-day toilet or vanity pickup in Mount Pleasant?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup, where available. Checkout shows the dates you can choose. Arrange disconnection, removal and the move outside first, then have the fixture ready by the time in your confirmation. We text you before arrival and provide pickup photos when it is done.

Will you disconnect a sink or take a door off its hinges?

The fixture must already be detached, disconnected and accessible outside at ground level. Arrange plumbing, electrical work, removal from walls or hinges, and indoor carrying before pickup. Dropcurb handles loading and haul-away from your outdoor pickup spot.

Can I add bags of drywall, tile or other demolition waste?

Mixed drywall, tile, concrete, lumber and demolition rubble are not accepted. This page offers pickup for the listed doors, toilets and bathroom vanities that are already removed. Do not book loose building materials as household trash bags or as an extra item. Arrange suitable disposal for those materials with your contractor or a debris specialist.

Can a door, toilet and vanity go in the same pickup?

Yes. Add each listed fixture separately and choose the correct vanity size. Each detached door panel counts as one item. The combined price appears before you book. Keep the fixtures together outside, separate from anything staying, and add a location photo on your order page.

Can construction debris go out with the trash in Mount Pleasant?

No. The Town states that landscape or construction material in a roll cart prevents the garbage from being collected, and it lists bricks, concrete, tree stumps and contractor-generated debris from construction, demolition, remodelling or landscaping among the items it cannot collect, with the contractor responsible for hauling that debris away. Landscape and construction material has to be disposed of separately at the landfill, and Charleston County can confirm the receiving site on 843-720-7111.Official guidance

Who collects trash in Mount Pleasant?

The Town's Public Services Department collects both the garbage and the trash pile through its Waste Management Division, on the same day each week, with everything at the curb by 7 a.m. Curbside recycling is a different arrangement: Charleston County collects it every other week and runs the drop sites in the Town. The Public Services Department is at 1351 Sweetgrass Basket Parkway on 843-849-2022, open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.Official guidance

Which carts will the Town collect?

Only town-issued roll carts. The Town issues one 90-gallon or one 65-gallon cart at no cost, a second cart costs $70 through the Public Services Department, and only two carts are allowed per property, with garbage in any other container left behind. Carts go to the curb by 7 a.m. with the handles facing the house and come back in within 12 hours. Landscape and construction material placed in a cart stops the garbage from being collected at all.Official guidance

Where do electronics, paint and used oil go?

Electronics are not collected at the curb, because state environmental rules keep televisions, computers and other electronic equipment out of landfills, so they go to a Charleston County drop-off site or a big box electronic store. Paint and household chemicals go to the county's Awendaw Convenience Center or Bees Ferry Landfill. Used motor oil is different: the Town takes it at its maintenance facility on Sweetgrass Basket Parkway at no more than 5 gallons per visit for residential use. Questions go to Charleston County on 843-720-7111.Official guidance
