Subscribe to curbside yard waste

For households inside city limits that want weekly yard waste collection instead of hauling it to a remote site.

Cost & conditions
$15 per month during the May through November season. Accounts inside Rapid City city limits; signing up commits you to the full season, and the container is delivered by the collection crew.
Arrange it
Call the Solid Waste Division to start the service, then set the yard waste container out by 7am on your regular collection day.

The season ends in November, and dirt, rocks and logs are not accepted in the yard waste container.

Rapid City moves most large items by self-haul. Bring loads to the landfill scale between 7am and 4pm, Monday through Saturday, expect a minimum charge or a flat load rate, and sort out refrigerant-bearing appliances, liquids, hazardous material and unhardened paint before you arrive. Household refuse, construction debris, concrete, clean wood and pallets, stumps, mattresses and box springs, tires and metal, cardboard, plastics, glass, cans and residential yard waste for free recycling.

Loads are weighed at the gate with a minimum disposal charge and a three percent processing fee on cards. Refrigerant-bearing appliances, liquids and hazardous material are refused, paint has to be hardened first, and commercial yard waste is billed differently from residential yard waste.

Monday through Saturday, 7am to 4pm. Administration is open Monday through Friday, 7:30am to 4pm.

From $10 for minimum disposal charge, with flat car loads at $10, sport utility loads at $15 and pickup loads at $30, or tonnage rates such as $73 per ton for mixed waste and construction debris, $10 per ton for concrete, $20 per ton for clean wood and pallets, and $10 each for mattresses and box springs. Open to residents and non-residents. Non-residents pay by weight, and commercial yard waste pays a different tonnage rate.
