Match the screen

Flat screen or tube? Start with the shape.

The TV’s type and size determine which item to choose. A new model and an old model can use the same option if their shape and screen size match.

Flat-screen TVs

Measure the screen diagonally, corner to corner, without the frame. Choose under 42 inches or 42 inches and larger. A TV measuring exactly 42 inches belongs to the larger option.

Tube TVs

An older tube or CRT television has curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Choose Tube TV even if its screen is small. A rear-projection TV is different; send a photo before booking so we can check the fit.

TV stands and other electronics

The TV price covers the television. Add a media console, computer monitor or other item separately if it is going too. Choose only what you want removed and review the combined price.

Text us about your setup
  1. Arrange any unmounting first.

Dropcurb does not remove TVs from walls or do indoor carrying. Arrange the help you need before pickup day, including the trip down interior stairs or through an elevator.

  2. Choose a permitted outdoor spot.

Use a stable, accessible location with a clear path for loading. Keep the TV separate from anything staying. Check building rules before placing it in a shared pickup area.

  3. Show us the TV that is going.

Add a location photo and access notes after booking. Follow the readiness instructions in your confirmation. For exposed broken glass or unusual damage, send a photo and check with us before booking.

Televisions, monitors, computers and e-waste

Not on the regular city route

Televisions, computer monitors and laptops are not accepted at the city landfill, and the recycling convenience centers do not take electronics.

City cost & eligibility
Kingsport crews do not collect televisions, monitors or laptops at the curb and the city landfill refuses them, so there is no city pickup charge. Sullivan County takes the electronics at its transfer stations; call (423) 878-1880 for the Bristol station before you drive out.
When & how
Route it through a Sullivan County transfer station instead; the county's Kingsport station shares the Brookside Lane site.
Get it ready
Keep the screen intact, remove any personal data you can, and call the county before hauling so you know which station is accepting that item that week.

What must stay out of the pile

Batteries, paint and paint products, butane and gas tanks, dead animals, hazardous liquids or materials, infectious materials and cardboard are not collected at the curb. Dried paint may go in the garbage cart, and wet paint should be dried with cat litter first. Used motor oil goes back to the retailer that sold it.

City of Kingsport Public Works, Solid Waste Division

Household hazardous waste collection

The only route for paint thinners, pesticides, chemicals and similar material that the city crews refuse.

Cost & conditions
No charge. Sullivan County Solid Waste and the State of Tennessee run the collection as a scheduled public event rather than a paid drop-off.
Arrange it
The county publishes a single collection day each year, announced by the state; call Sullivan County Solid Waste on (423) 323-6439 for the date, time and location.

It is a once-a-year event rather than an always-open facility, so hold the material until the published date instead of putting it at the curb.

Sullivan County solid waste

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Kingsport's landfill at 1921 Brookside Lane is a demolition landfill for wood, metal, construction material, shingles, glass, furniture, block and brick, with a Sullivan County transfer station on the same site. City addresses may dump up to 12,000 pounds a year with no tipping fee using a driver license or current water bill as proof of address, and nine convenience centers take paper, cardboard, cans, glass and plastics. Televisions, monitors and laptops leave the city system for a Sullivan County transfer station, and household hazardous waste is collected once a year by Sullivan County Solid Waste and the State of Tennessee. Sullivan County transfer station in Bristol

Sullivan County Transfer Station

804 Raytheon Road, Bristol, TN 37620

Electronics and appliances routed out of the city system, including computers and the household appliances the county lists with its transfer stations.

The city recycling page states that its electronics stream does not include televisions, so confirm television acceptance with the county before hauling. Household hazardous waste is handled only at the county's annual collection event.

Monday to Friday 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and it does not close for lunch.

Sullivan County does not publish a per-item rate for the Bristol transfer station, so call (423) 878-1880 to confirm what your load costs.

Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

TV removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Kingsport.

How much does TV removal cost in Kingsport?

A flat-screen TV under 42 inches is $79 as the first item and $19 as an additional item. Larger flat screens and tube TVs have their own prices. Loading, transportation and disposal are included. Choose the type that matches your TV and review your total, including any applicable tax, before payment.

Can I get same-day TV pickup in Kingsport?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup. Choose from the dates offered at checkout and have the TV outside according to your confirmation. We text you when your hauler is on the way and provide photos when the pickup is done.

Will Dropcurb remove my TV from the wall or carry it downstairs?

You arrange unmounting, disconnection and indoor carrying before pickup. Dropcurb starts at an accessible outdoor location, where we load your TV and take it away. If you need help removing a mounted TV or moving a heavy tube TV outside, arrange that separately before your pickup day.

Do you pick up old tube or CRT televisions?

Yes. Choose Tube TV for an older television with curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Its price is $249 as the first item and $249 as an additional item. A rear-projection television is a different item; send a photo before booking rather than choosing the tube-TV option.

Does my old TV have to work?

Your TV does not need to turn on for removal. Choose its type and size and arrange to have it outside before pickup. A non-working TV and a TV with exposed broken glass are different situations; send a photo of unusual damage so we can confirm the plan before you book.

Where do televisions and computer monitors go in Kingsport?

They leave the city system. The city landfill will not accept televisions, computer monitors or laptops, and the convenience centers route electronics to the Sullivan County transfer stations instead. Confirm television acceptance with the county before hauling, because the city recycling page notes its electronics stream excludes televisions.Official guidance

What will Kingsport not pick up at the curb?

Batteries, paint and paint products, butane and gas tanks, dead animals, hazardous liquids or materials, infectious materials and cardboard stay out of the pile. Contractor-generated waste is refused as well, and televisions, monitors and laptops are not taken at the curb or at the city landfill.Official guidance

Where do I take items the city will not collect?

Electronics go to a Sullivan County transfer station, and household hazardous waste waits for the county's annual collection day, which residents can confirm on (423) 323-6439. Tires beyond the four allowed at the curb go to the Kingsport landfill, and cardboard goes to a city convenience center rather than the curb.Official guidance
