Match the screen

Flat screen or tube? Start with the shape.

The TV’s type and size determine which item to choose. A new model and an old model can use the same option if their shape and screen size match.

Flat-screen TVs

Measure the screen diagonally, corner to corner, without the frame. Choose under 42 inches or 42 inches and larger. A TV measuring exactly 42 inches belongs to the larger option.

Tube TVs

An older tube or CRT television has curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Choose Tube TV even if its screen is small. A rear-projection TV is different; send a photo before booking so we can check the fit.

TV stands and other electronics

The TV price covers the television. Add a media console, computer monitor or other item separately if it is going too. Choose only what you want removed and review the combined price.

  1. Arrange any unmounting first.

Dropcurb does not remove TVs from walls or do indoor carrying. Arrange the help you need before pickup day, including the trip down interior stairs or through an elevator.

  2. Choose a permitted outdoor spot.

Use a stable, accessible location with a clear path for loading. Keep the TV separate from anything staying. Check building rules before placing it in a shared pickup area.

  3. Show us the TV that is going.

Add a location photo and access notes after booking. Follow the readiness instructions in your confirmation. For exposed broken glass or unusual damage, send a photo and check with us before booking.

Televisions, computers and electronics

Accepted with preparation

Large electronics are accepted as bulky items: the city names televisions and computer monitors on its accepted list, so a screen leaves on a BABIC request at no additional cost. Smaller electronics fall under the 50 pound rule and ride the regular refuse, and the city's own electronics page links to outside recyclers rather than running a municipal programme.

City cost & eligibility
No charge. Richardson residents requesting a bulky collection for a large television or monitor from their own property, within the suggested eight requests a year. The city's electronics page directs residents to Best Buy, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, Time to Recycle and Earth911 for additional options, each of which sets its own terms.
When & how
Request the bulky collection for a large screen on 972-744-4111 or online, and note that the transfer station on Lookout Drive does not accept electronics at all.
Get it ready
Wipe personal data before handover, keep the device off the sidewalk and clear of the cart, and check the outside recyclers the city lists if you would rather not wait for a bulky day.

The handoff matters

Right item.
Right place.

A bulky pickup starts with a request

BABIC is a service provided by request, so the pile does not move until the request is made through the online form or 972-744-4111. Material goes out before midnight on the night before the designated collection day, the city asks residents to limit themselves to about eight requests a year, and a route shown as delayed on the service page usually runs the following day, including Saturday. If a scheduled pile is missed in error, the 24 hour response centre is the same number.

With a new purchase

Use an outside electronics recycler

A household that would rather recycle a television, monitor or other device directly than wait for a bulky collection.

Cost & conditions
The city's electronics page links to Best Buy, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, Time to Recycle and Earth911 without publishing any price, and each of those sets its own terms, so confirm acceptance and any fee with the receiver.
Arrange it
Pick a receiver from the city's list, confirm that it takes the device, and deliver it during that receiver's hours.

These are outside programmes rather than city services, and the city's own bulky route remains the free option for a large television or monitor.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Richardson residents have three routes, and the 50 pound line decides which one applies. Anything under 50 pounds goes out with the twice weekly refuse collection at the normal pickup point, using the city's refuse bags. Anything over 50 pounds goes to the curbside right-of-way, and if it is bulky, such as furniture, a mattress and box springs, a large appliance or a large television or monitor, it has to be requested as a Brush and Bulky Item Collection on 972-744-4111 or through the online form and left out before midnight on the night before the designated day, at no additional cost and within the city's suggested limit of about eight requests a year. Residents can also drive regular trash to the NTMWD Lookout Transfer Station at 1601 E. Lookout Drive, Monday to Saturday 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with a driver's licence and current water bill, but that site refuses hazardous waste and electronics and brush goes to the Custer Transfer Station in Plano instead. Construction and demolition debris is outside all of this: the ordinance leaves it to city-permitted haulers who contract with the resident and bill them directly, and the bulky service refuses it along with tires, concrete, glass and hazardous material. Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

TV removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Richardson.

How much does TV removal cost in Richardson?

A flat-screen TV under 42 inches is $79 as the first item and $19 as an additional item. Larger flat screens and tube TVs have their own prices. Loading, transportation and disposal are included. Choose the type that matches your TV and review your total, including any applicable tax, before payment.

Can I get same-day TV pickup in Richardson?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup. Choose from the dates offered at checkout and have the TV outside according to your confirmation. We text you when your hauler is on the way and provide photos when the pickup is done.

Will Dropcurb remove my TV from the wall or carry it downstairs?

You arrange unmounting, disconnection and indoor carrying before pickup. Dropcurb starts at an accessible outdoor location, where we load your TV and take it away. If you need help removing a mounted TV or moving a heavy tube TV outside, arrange that separately before your pickup day.

Do you pick up old tube or CRT televisions?

Yes. Choose Tube TV for an older television with curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Its price is $249 as the first item and $249 as an additional item. A rear-projection television is a different item; send a photo before booking rather than choosing the tube-TV option.

Does my old TV have to work?

Your TV does not need to turn on for removal. Choose its type and size and arrange to have it outside before pickup. A non-working TV and a TV with exposed broken glass are different situations; send a photo of unusual damage so we can confirm the plan before you book.

Where does a Richardson television go?

On a requested bulky collection, because televisions and computer monitors are named as accepted large electronics. The service costs nothing extra for residents. The transfer station does not accept electronics, and the city's electronics page points to Best Buy, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, Time to Recycle and Earth911 for other options.Official guidance

What does a bulky pickup cost in Richardson?

Nothing extra. The city states that bulky item collection is provided to residents at no additional cost, and it asks residents to limit service requests to about eight calls a year so the service keeps working for everyone.Official guidance

Where do paint and chemicals go in Richardson?

Never in the regular trash. The health department states that hazardous products must be stored in their original containers with lids fastened and disposed of properly, and it points residents to its household hazardous waste guidance rather than to a curbside or bulky route. The same page covers prescription drug take-back.Official guidance
