Furniture and bulk waste

Accepted with preparation

Residential customers may request one bulk pickup a month of up to five cubic yards, and the program lists furniture, carpet, lumber and bagged trash as acceptable.

City cost & eligibility
No charge. Sherman residential addresses with an active City utility account, limited to one pickup per month of five cubic yards of bulk waste. Residences without an active account are not served, and contractors must arrange commercial service.
When & how
Put the items at the curb, then request the pickup in the Sherman app, on the City website, or by calling the bulk waste line at 903-892-7777.
Get it ready
Keep the bulk pile separate from brush and at least three feet from mailboxes, carts, poles, signs and trees, with nothing overhead and no vehicle blocking it. Glass should be boxed or bagged so it cannot scatter. Tires, concrete, shingles, batteries, dirt, rock, rubble, railroad crossties, liquids, fluorescent bulbs and hazardous material are not accepted.

Appliances

Special rules apply

Appliances are part of the bulk waste list, with a refrigerant requirement, and the City drop-off station also accepts them for a published per unit charge.

City cost & eligibility
Appliances can ride the monthly bulk pickup when the customer has an active utility account, and the drop-off station publishes a per appliance charge. Confirm which route fits, because a cooling appliance cannot be set out until the refrigerant has been removed and tagged by a licensed company or individual.
When & how
Remove the refrigerant and obtain the required tag first, then either request the monthly pickup or take the appliance to the drop-off station during its open hours.
Get it ready
Keep the tag from the licensed company with the appliance, remove doors where practical, and confirm that the unit is empty and drained before it leaves the property.

The handoff matters

Right item.
Right place.

Two separate piles, three feet clear

Bulk waste and brush go out as two separate piles at the curb, at least three feet from mailboxes, carts, poles, signs and trees, clear of overhead lines and branches, and never in an alley or driving lane.

City bulk and brush collection rules

Request the pickup, do not assume it

The monthly program is call-in only, so the pile waits at the curb until the request is made through the app, the website or the bulk waste line.

City bulk and brush collection rules

Tag the refrigerant removal

Appliances that contain Freon must have the refrigerant removed and carry a tag from a licensed company or individual before they are placed out.

Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

Appliance removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Sherman.

How much does appliance removal cost in Sherman?

A full-size household refrigerator is $109 as a single item. A washing machine is $109, and a dryer is $109. Other appliances have their own catalog prices. Choose each item to see your exact total before booking; disposal and recycling costs are included in the item price.

Can I get same-day appliance pickup in Sherman?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup, where available. Checkout shows the dates you can choose. Your pickup is scheduled for a day rather than an exact arrival appointment, and we text you before arrival. Have the appliance disconnected and ready outside by your pickup readiness time.

Can you take a washing machine and dryer in one pickup?

Yes. Add one Washing machine and one Dryer so both units are included in the price. They are separate items, even when you bought them as a set. If yours is a single combined unit or the machines still need to be unstacked, contact us before booking to confirm the scope.

Will you disconnect my appliance or carry it out?

Dropcurb picks up appliances that are already disconnected and accessible outside at ground level. Arrange uninstallation, utility disconnection and indoor carrying before pickup. Use a qualified professional for gas, hardwired or plumbing connections when needed. We handle loading and haul-away from the outdoor pickup spot.

Can I book if the delivery company did not take my old appliance?

Yes. Dropcurb pickup is separate from buying or installing a replacement, so you can book removal on its own. Select the old appliance, choose a pickup day and arrange for it to be disconnected and accessible outside. If your new delivery is still ahead, confirm the retailer’s haul-away arrangements before booking a separate pickup.

How often can I get a bulk pickup?

One request per month for up to five cubic yards of bulk waste, in addition to the brush allowance, and it has to be requested rather than assumed.Official guidance
