Match the screen

Flat screen or tube? Start with the shape.

The TV’s type and size determine which item to choose. A new model and an old model can use the same option if their shape and screen size match.

Flat-screen TVs

Measure the screen diagonally, corner to corner, without the frame. Choose under 42 inches or 42 inches and larger. A TV measuring exactly 42 inches belongs to the larger option.

Tube TVs

An older tube or CRT television has curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Choose Tube TV even if its screen is small. A rear-projection TV is different; send a photo before booking so we can check the fit.

TV stands and other electronics

The TV price covers the television. Add a media console, computer monitor or other item separately if it is going too. Choose only what you want removed and review the combined price.

  1. Arrange any unmounting first.

Dropcurb does not remove TVs from walls or do indoor carrying. Arrange the help you need before pickup day, including the trip down interior stairs or through an elevator.

  2. Choose a permitted outdoor spot.

Use a stable, accessible location with a clear path for loading. Keep the TV separate from anything staying. Check building rules before placing it in a shared pickup area.

  3. Show us the TV that is going.

Televisions

Special rules apply

Televisions are named nowhere on the Tyler pages, so the set has to be confirmed rather than assumed to be a bulky item.

City cost & eligibility
The bulky list names furniture, appliances, carpet, fencing material and old toys, and no Tyler page publishes an electronics drop-off or an electronics fee. Call the Solid Waste Office on (903) 531-1388 and ask whether a television can ride a bulky pick-up or has to go to another route.
When & how
Confirm the route first, then either include the set in a booked bulky pick-up or arrange the drop-off the city names.
Get it ready
Keep the screen whole and dry, wipe anything that stores data, keep the remote and cords with the set, and do not put it out with brush, because brush and household bulky piles have to be kept separate.

Twice weekly collection with a six in the morning curb time

Tyler collects household trash twice a week by half of the city: the northern portion is served Monday and Thursday and the southern portion Tuesday and Friday. Containers go to the curb no later than 6 a.m. on the collection day, and Ordinance 16.4.c requires them out no earlier than 6 p.m. the day before and removed by 6 a.m. the morning after collection. Cart replacement, repair and replacement requests go through the Solid Waste Office on (903) 531-1388 and can take three to five business days.

Bulky waste is booked, not simply set out

Two bulky pick-ups each calendar year are free for a household on the curbside service, booked through the online bulky item pickup form, with the crew arriving within five business days. The pile has to stay within 6 to 8 cubic yards, and the named bulky items are furniture, appliances, carpet, fencing material, old toys and other large items. Brush and tires are not included in the free pick-up, and a pile over eight cubic yards or anything on the special list is charged as a special collection that starts at $20 and varies by size and quantity. Once a crew has collected on a street, more bulky items wait for another request.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Self hauling in Tyler means Greenwood Farms Landfill at 12920 Farm to Market Road 2767, the Old Kilgore Highway about five miles east of Loop 323. The site is owned by the City of Tyler and operated by Republic Services, opens Monday to Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Saturday from 6:30 a.m. to Noon, and closes Sunday, with questions on (903) 566-5007. The published resident rules apply only to City of Tyler residents and a current utility bill is required for landfill use, while other customers may still use the site by paying the gate rate the landfill quotes on request, and state law requires loads of garbage to be covered on the way. Small amounts of household hazardous waste, 32 ounces or less, are meant to go out with the household garbage instead. Fluorescent bulbs should be taped together and set beside the garbage cart, paint must be dried before it goes to the curb, and automotive, lawnmower and tractor batteries, motor oil and antifreeze go to the free Downtown Recycle Center, with rechargeable batteries accepted at Batteries Plus on Broadway for a fee and TCEQ on (903) 535-5100 for anything else. Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

TV removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Tyler.

How much does TV removal cost in Tyler?

A flat-screen TV under 42 inches is $79 as the first item and $19 as an additional item. Larger flat screens and tube TVs have their own prices. Loading, transportation and disposal are included. Choose the type that matches your TV and review your total, including any applicable tax, before payment.

Can I get same-day TV pickup in Tyler?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup. Choose from the dates offered at checkout and have the TV outside according to your confirmation. We text you when your hauler is on the way and provide photos when the pickup is done.

Will Dropcurb remove my TV from the wall or carry it downstairs?

You arrange unmounting, disconnection and indoor carrying before pickup. Dropcurb starts at an accessible outdoor location, where we load your TV and take it away. If you need help removing a mounted TV or moving a heavy tube TV outside, arrange that separately before your pickup day.

Do you pick up old tube or CRT televisions?

Yes. Choose Tube TV for an older television with curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Its price is $249 as the first item and $249 as an additional item. A rear-projection television is a different item; send a photo before booking rather than choosing the tube-TV option.

Does my old TV have to work?

Your TV does not need to turn on for removal. Choose its type and size and arrange to have it outside before pickup. A non-working TV and a TV with exposed broken glass are different situations; send a photo of unusual damage so we can confirm the plan before you book.

Where does a television go in Tyler?

Call the Solid Waste Office on (903) 531-1388 and ask whether the set can go on one of the two free bulky pick-ups a year or needs another route, and note that the Downtown Recycle Center is the city's free recycling site.Official guidance

What does the city take for recycling and household chemicals?

Recycling is free at the Downtown Recycle Center, which anyone may use and which sorts and bales material, while curbside recycling is an optional monthly fee service that runs single-stream to a facility in Kilgore.
