Match the screen

Flat screen or tube? Start with the shape.

The TV’s type and size determine which item to choose. A new model and an old model can use the same option if their shape and screen size match.

Flat-screen TVs

Measure the screen diagonally, corner to corner, without the frame. Choose under 42 inches or 42 inches and larger. A TV measuring exactly 42 inches belongs to the larger option.

Tube TVs

An older tube or CRT television has curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Choose Tube TV even if its screen is small. A rear-projection TV is different; send a photo before booking so we can check the fit.

TV stands and other electronics

The TV price covers the television. Add a media console, computer monitor or other item separately if it is going too. Choose only what you want removed and review the combined price.

Computers, phones and other electronics

Special rules apply

Cobbs takes computers and cell phones from anyone at no charge, but it refuses scrapped out televisions or electronics, chargers and cables, so a screen has no published city route.

City cost & eligibility
Cobbs lists computer and cell phone recycling in the self-service section open to everyone, and its unacceptable list refuses scrapped out televisions or electronics along with chargers and cables. No television route is published on the city pages read for this packet, so confirm the item with the solid waste division at (254) 299-2489 before loading a screen.
When & how
Take computers and cell phones to Cobbs between Monday and Saturday, 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., and ask the city first about anything that is not a computer or a phone.
Get it ready
Wipe personal data before handover, and keep batteries out of the load, because Cobbs refuses lithium ion and car batteries and takes only household batteries and curly CFL bulbs. Keep chargers and cables out as well, since the center lists them as unacceptable.

The handoff matters

Right item.
Right place.

Freon appliances, glass, tires, paint and chemicals stay out

The bulky pile refuses appliances containing Freon, basketball goals, glass such as tabletops and mirrors, tires, paint, chemicals, liquids and hazardous materials, and construction material containing bricks, concrete or tiles. Extra bags of trash never count as bulky waste either. Freon appliances, glass, tires and paint go to the Cobbs Recycling Center for a fee, and a household there is limited to four free bulky and brush trips a year at no more than eight cubic yards each.

City of Waco Solid Waste Division

Cobbs Recycling Center drop-off

A Waco household with recycling, bulky or brush material, latex paint, used motor oil, computers, phones, or a Freon appliance to clear.

Cost & conditions
The self-service recycling streams are free to everyone, the resident allowances for motor oil, latex paint and four bulky and brush trips are free with proof of residency, and Freon appliance handling and tires carry published fees that are added to the next utility bill rather than collected on site. Confirm the item and the current fee at (254) 299-2489 before loading.
Arrange it
Drive to 4201 Trice Ave between Monday and Saturday, 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., with the current water bill and a matching photo identification, and keep the bulky and brush bays in mind because they close at 4:45 p.m.

Four bulky and brush trips a year at no more than eight cubic yards per visit, five gallons a month each of latex paint and of used motor oil, antifreeze and filters, and tires limited to four per visit off the rim and no larger than twenty inches. Remodeling or construction debris, commercial waste, propane cylinders, old gasoline, hazardous waste, scrapped out televisions or electronics, chargers and cables, plastic bags and household garbage are refused.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Waco gives a household two ways to move large material. The curbside route is one requested bulky waste pickup a month at no additional charge, with the pile capped at six by six by six feet, and it refuses Freon appliances, glass, tires, paint, chemicals, liquids, hazardous materials and construction material containing bricks, concrete or tiles. The drop-off route is the Cobbs Recycling Center on Trice Avenue, open Monday to Saturday, where the self-service recycling streams are open to everyone and a Waco resident with a current water bill and a matching photo identification gets four free bulky and brush trips a year, five gallons a month of latex paint and the same allowance of used motor oil, antifreeze and filters. Freon appliances go to Cobbs with a technician's tag or pay the center's removal fee, and tires are limited to four per visit off the rim with published fees. Computers and cell phones are the electronics the city takes, while scrapped out televisions and electronics, chargers and cables are refused, and a renovation load has no public route at all. Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

TV removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Waco.

How much does TV removal cost in Waco?

A flat-screen TV under 42 inches is $79 as the first item and $19 as an additional item. Larger flat screens and tube TVs have their own prices. Loading, transportation and disposal are included. Choose the type that matches your TV and review your total, including any applicable tax, before payment.

Can I get same-day TV pickup in Waco?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup. Choose from the dates offered at checkout and have the TV outside according to your confirmation. We text you when your hauler is on the way and provide photos when the pickup is done.

Will Dropcurb remove my TV from the wall or carry it downstairs?

You arrange unmounting, disconnection and indoor carrying before pickup. Dropcurb starts at an accessible outdoor location, where we load your TV and take it away. If you need help removing a mounted TV or moving a heavy tube TV outside, arrange that separately before your pickup day.

Do you pick up old tube or CRT televisions?

Yes. Choose Tube TV for an older television with curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Its price is $249 as the first item and $249 as an additional item. A rear-projection television is a different item; send a photo before booking rather than choosing the tube-TV option.

Does my old TV have to work?

Your TV does not need to turn on for removal. Choose its type and size and arrange to have it outside before pickup. A non-working TV and a TV with exposed broken glass are different situations; send a photo of unusual damage so we can confirm the plan before you book.

Where do Waco computers and televisions go?

Computers and cell phones go to the Cobbs Recycling Center on Trice Avenue, which lists them in the self-service section open to everyone and is open Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Televisions are different: the center refuses scrapped out televisions or electronics along with chargers and cables, and no television route is published on the city pages, so confirm with the solid waste division at (254) 299-2489 before moving a screen.Official guidance
