Match your item

Construction cleanup starts with the right items.

We currently accept the doors, toilets and bathroom vanities listed here, already detached and ready outside. Choose each item separately. Mixed drywall, tile, concrete, lumber and demolition rubble are not accepted, including in bags.

Doors

Count each detached door panel separately. Have it removed from its hinges before pickup. A whole installed doorway or garage door is not the same item.

Toilets

Choose Toilet for an ordinary household toilet that has already been disconnected, drained and moved outside. Text a photo before booking if yours is broken or has loose sharp pieces.

Bathroom vanities

Choose the small, standard or large bathroom vanity that matches your sink cabinet. A makeup table has a separate choice. Plumbing disconnection and removal from the wall happen before pickup.

Construction and demolition debris

Not on the regular city route

The cleanup and brush programmes are expressly not intended for waste from major construction or demolition, and pressure treated lumber cannot be collected at all. Project debris goes to the regional authority instead.

City cost & eligibility
From $2.65 for minimum charge for a construction waste load up to 100 pounds, with construction waste at $53.00 per ton under the rates effective July 1, 2026. Loads are weighed at the authority scale house at 555 Authority Drive in Christiansburg, where an untarped or unsecured load pays $10.00 in addition to the per ton charge and the authority now accepts credit and bank cards.
When & how
Not on the cleanup weeks or a special pickup; take the load to the Montgomery Regional Solid Waste Authority scale house Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. or Saturday from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Get it ready
Keep construction and demolition debris, pressure treated lumber and contractor waste out of the curb piles, tarp or secure the load before weighing because an untarped or unsecured load pays an extra charge, and separate clean woody waste from mixed debris because the authority prices them differently.

Town of Blacksburg Public Works, Refuse and Recycling

Haul the load to the regional authority scale house

A household with construction debris, mixed refuse or woody waste that the town will not take at the curb.

Cost & conditions
From $3.8 for minimum charge for a household municipal solid waste load up to 100 pounds, with municipal solid waste at $76.00 per ton under the rates effective July 1, 2026. Construction waste is priced separately at $53.00 per ton with a $2.65 minimum, clean woody waste at $67.00 per ton, and white goods and appliances carry a $19.00 refrigerant charge only. An untarped or unsecured load pays an extra $10.00, and the authority now accepts credit and bank cards.
Arrange it
Weigh the load at 555 Authority Drive in Christiansburg during scale house hours, Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. or Saturday from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and call (540) 381-2820 with questions.

Tarp or secure every load, the rates took effect on July 1, 2026 and are revised annually, and household hazardous waste is only accepted at the authority's scheduled appointment events.

Montgomery Regional Solid Waste Authority

Town of Blacksburg Public Works, Refuse and Recycling

Use a Montgomery County consolidated waste site

A resident with refuse or recycling who can carry it to a site, including households outside the town collection route.

Cost & conditions
No charge. The town states that county residents may use the consolidated waste sites free of charge, while refuse taken to the regional authority is charged at its tipping fees.
Arrange it
Take the material to a listed site such as Coal Bank Hollow at 200 Coal Bank Hollow Road on 540-552-0237, and call the site before a trip because the town list gives addresses and numbers but no hours.

County residents only for the free use, the county publishes no hours, and cardboard has to be corrugated, flattened and free of food waste to be accepted.

Blacksburg drop off recycling

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Self-hauling from Blacksburg has two obvious destinations. Montgomery County's consolidated waste sites take refuse and recycling free from county residents, and the town lists ten of them with addresses and phone numbers, including Coal Bank Hollow on Coal Bank Hollow Road, though hours are not published so a call first is wise. Anything heavier or more specialised goes to the Montgomery Regional Solid Waste Authority at 555 Authority Drive in Christiansburg, where the scale house is open Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., an untarped load pays an extra charge, construction waste and household municipal solid waste are priced by the ton with small load minimums, clean woody waste with no nails costs less than mixed debris, and white goods and appliances carry a refrigerant charge only. Electronics are free at the YMCA on North Main Street, and hazardous waste waits for the sponsored collection events rather than the scale. The town cleanup weeks remain the cheapest route for furniture, metal appliances, tires within the limits and household junk. Regional solid waste authority

Montgomery Regional Solid Waste Authority

555 Authority Drive, Christiansburg, VA

Construction waste is accepted by the ton at the scale house, along with industrial waste and clean woody waste that carries no nails.

Debris from a contractor is refused at the town curb, so the authority is the disposal route, and an untarped or unsecured load pays an extra $10.00 in addition to the per ton charge.

Scale house Monday to Friday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., with the authority reachable on (540) 381-2820 and holiday hours posted on its home page.

From $2.65 for minimum charge for a construction waste load up to 100 pounds, with construction waste at $53.00 per ton under the rates effective July 1, 2026. Clean woody waste is priced separately at $67.00 per ton with a $3.35 minimum, and the minimum applies to loads up to 100 pounds.

County consolidated waste site

Coal Bank Hollow Consolidated Waste Site

200 Coal Bank Hollow Rd.

Refuse and recycling for Montgomery County residents, which the town lists as free of charge, with cardboard accepted when it is corrugated, flattened and free of food waste.

County residents only for the free use, chipboard such as cereal and frozen food boxes is not acceptable with corrugated cardboard because it contaminates the stream, and the town list publishes no hours so a call ahead is required.

The county publishes no hours for this site, so call it on 540-552-0237 before a trip. The town publishes the address and number for ten consolidated sites, and it states that the county sites sit just outside the town limits.

No charge. The town states that county residents may use the consolidated waste sites free of charge, while refuse taken to the regional authority is charged at its tipping fees.

Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

Construction debris removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Blacksburg.

How much does construction debris removal cost in Blacksburg?

Pricing is per accepted item. A detached door is $99 as a single item, an ordinary toilet is $79, and a small bathroom vanity is $99. Larger vanities have their own choices. Select the listed items to see the exact combined price. These prices do not cover mixed rubble or loose building materials. Loading, transportation and disposal are included; applicable sales tax appears before payment.

Can I get same-day toilet or vanity pickup in Blacksburg?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup, where available. Checkout shows the dates you can choose. Arrange disconnection, removal and the move outside first, then have the fixture ready by the time in your confirmation. We text you before arrival and provide pickup photos when it is done.

Will you disconnect a sink or take a door off its hinges?

The fixture must already be detached, disconnected and accessible outside at ground level. Arrange plumbing, electrical work, removal from walls or hinges, and indoor carrying before pickup. Dropcurb handles loading and haul-away from your outdoor pickup spot.

Can I add bags of drywall, tile or other demolition waste?

Mixed drywall, tile, concrete, lumber and demolition rubble are not accepted. This page offers pickup for the listed doors, toilets and bathroom vanities that are already removed. Do not book loose building materials as household trash bags or as an extra item. Arrange suitable disposal for those materials with your contractor or a debris specialist.

Can a door, toilet and vanity go in the same pickup?

Yes. Add each listed fixture separately and choose the correct vanity size. Each detached door panel counts as one item. The combined price appears before you book. Keep the fixtures together outside, separate from anything staying, and add a location photo on your order page.

Where does construction debris go in Blacksburg?

Not into the cleanup piles or a special pickup, because both programmes refuse contractor waste and major construction or demolition debris, and pressure treated lumber cannot be collected. The route is the Montgomery Regional Solid Waste Authority scale house, where construction waste is charged by the ton with a minimum for small loads and an untarped load pays an extra charge.Official guidance
