Match your item

Construction cleanup starts with the right items.

We currently accept the doors, toilets and bathroom vanities listed here, already detached and ready outside. Choose each item separately. Mixed drywall, tile, concrete, lumber and demolition rubble are not accepted, including in bags.

Doors

Count each detached door panel separately. Have it removed from its hinges before pickup. A whole installed doorway or garage door is not the same item.

Toilets

Choose Toilet for an ordinary household toilet that has already been disconnected, drained and moved outside. Text a photo before booking if yours is broken or has loose sharp pieces.

Bathroom vanities

Choose the small, standard or large bathroom vanity that matches your sink cabinet. A makeup table has a separate choice. Plumbing disconnection and removal from the wall happen before pickup.

Construction and building material

Not on the regular city route

Construction and building material is refused in brush collection and is not on the cleanup or special pickup list.

City cost & eligibility
The brush page states plainly that construction and building materials are not accepted, including lumber, fence posts, railroad ties and brick, and neither the cleanup list nor the special pickup list includes them, so confirm the load with Public Works on 540-382-1151 before hauling it.
When & how
Call Public Works before the work starts and ask how a project load should be handled, since the town's own lists exclude it and the regional authority charges tipping fees at its gate.
Get it ready
Keep construction and building material out of the brush pile, the garbage cart and the recycling cart, and separate any brush or furniture that does qualify for a cleanup pickup from the project debris.

Brush has its own monthly collection and size limits

Brush collection runs once a month starting on the first Monday, with the north quadrant collected in the first week and the south quadrant in the second, and piles must be out by 7 a.m. on the Monday of the collection week and no earlier than the Saturday before. Brush must be tree limbs or logs cut to six feet or less, stacked neatly perpendicular to the street with the larger ends facing the street, free of nails, screws and wire, within five feet of a town maintained street, and no more than one pile per month of ten feet long by five feet tall. Leaves, weeds, vines, yard waste, stumps root balls, dirt, rocks, logs over ten inches and all construction or building material are refused, and the service pauses in April and October for cleanup.

Town of Christiansburg Public Works with the Montgomery Regional Solid Waste Authority and the New River Resource Authority

Haul the load to the Montgomery Regional Solid Waste Authority

A household that would rather take its own brush, furniture, appliance or tire load to the regional facility.

Cost & conditions
The town states that tipping fees apply at the authority but publishes no rate, so confirm the current gate charge with the authority on 540-381-2820 before loading the vehicle.
Arrange it
Take the load to the Montgomery Regional Solid Waste Authority at 555 Authority Drive in Christiansburg and pay the tipping fee at the gate; confirm the hours with the authority first.

Tipping fees apply to every load, the authority's accepted list and hours are not published on the town pages, and hazardous household waste is routed to the New River Resource Authority's collection events instead of the gate.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Christiansburg residents can self haul two ways. The town's cleanup windows in April and October take tree and brush trimmings, old furniture, a maximum of two appliances and up to four tires per household at no charge, and outside those windows the same categories can be scheduled for a special pickup on 540-382-1151 for a published charge per truckload plus a landfill tipping fee. The other route is the Montgomery Regional Solid Waste Authority at 555 Authority Drive in Christiansburg, where tipping fees apply and the gate hours and accepted material have to be confirmed on 540-381-2820. Household hazardous waste does not go to the authority gate or to any cart: the town sends residents to the New River Resource Authority's household hazardous waste collection events, and brush has its own monthly curbside collection for town residential properties with size, stacking and quantity limits. Regional authority that takes hauled loads for a tipping fee

Montgomery Regional Solid Waste Authority

555 Authority Drive, Christiansburg, VA 24073

Garbage and refuse delivered by residents and haulers, with brush and tree trimmings, old furniture, appliances and tires named as the categories the town lets residents bring directly.

Tipping fees apply to loads brought to the authority, the town publishes no rate or accepted material list for the site, construction and building material is not part of the town's residential pickup routes, and household hazardous waste goes to the New River Resource Authority's collection events instead.

Not published on the retained town page, so call the authority on 540-381-2820 to confirm the gate hours before travelling.

The town states that tipping fees apply at the authority without publishing an amount, so confirm the current charge on 540-381-2820.

Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

Construction debris removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Christiansburg.

How much does construction debris removal cost in Christiansburg?

Pricing is per accepted item. A detached door is $99 as a single item, an ordinary toilet is $79, and a small bathroom vanity is $99. Larger vanities have their own choices. Select the listed items to see the exact combined price. These prices do not cover mixed rubble or loose building materials. Loading, transportation and disposal are included; applicable sales tax appears before payment.

Can I get same-day toilet or vanity pickup in Christiansburg?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup, where available. Checkout shows the dates you can choose. Arrange disconnection, removal and the move outside first, then have the fixture ready by the time in your confirmation. We text you before arrival and provide pickup photos when it is done.

Will you disconnect a sink or take a door off its hinges?

The fixture must already be detached, disconnected and accessible outside at ground level. Arrange plumbing, electrical work, removal from walls or hinges, and indoor carrying before pickup. Dropcurb handles loading and haul-away from your outdoor pickup spot.

Can I add bags of drywall, tile or other demolition waste?

Mixed drywall, tile, concrete, lumber and demolition rubble are not accepted. This page offers pickup for the listed doors, toilets and bathroom vanities that are already removed. Do not book loose building materials as household trash bags or as an extra item. Arrange suitable disposal for those materials with your contractor or a debris specialist.

Can a door, toilet and vanity go in the same pickup?

Yes. Add each listed fixture separately and choose the correct vanity size. Each detached door panel counts as one item. The combined price appears before you book. Keep the fixtures together outside, separate from anything staying, and add a location photo on your order page.

Where does construction debris go?

Not in the brush pile, because the town states that construction and building materials are refused there, including lumber, fence posts, railroad ties and brick. Construction material is also not on the cleanup pickup list or the special pickup list, so call Public Works on 540-382-1151 and ask how the load should be handled, or take it to the Montgomery Regional Solid Waste Authority on Authority Drive, where tipping fees apply.Official guidance
