Match the screen

Flat screen or tube? Start with the shape.

The TV’s type and size determine which item to choose. A new model and an old model can use the same option if their shape and screen size match.

Flat-screen TVs

Measure the screen diagonally, corner to corner, without the frame. Choose under 42 inches or 42 inches and larger. A TV measuring exactly 42 inches belongs to the larger option.

Tube TVs

An older tube or CRT television has curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Choose Tube TV even if its screen is small. A rear-projection TV is different; send a photo before booking so we can check the fit.

TV stands and other electronics

The TV price covers the television. Add a media console, computer monitor or other item separately if it is going too. Choose only what you want removed and review the combined price.

Televisions, computers and electronics

Accepted with preparation

Cell phones, computer towers, iPads, tablets, laptops and printers recycle free every day at the Regional Landfill and Belman Road, while televisions and CRT monitors are refused at both of those sites and at the annual household hazardous waste day.

City cost & eligibility
No charge. Electronic waste is listed among the free recyclables at the Belman Road Convenience Center for city and Stafford residents, and the Regional Landfill accepts the same residential electronics for recycling. The accepted devices are limited to cell phones, computer towers, iPads, tablets, laptops and printers, because both sites refuse televisions and CRT monitors.
When & how
Drop electronics during Belman Road hours, Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. or weekends 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., or at the Regional Landfill during its open hours.
Get it ready
Televisions, computer monitors and other electronics are not accepted at the hazardous waste collection day, so keep them out of that event and use the daily drop-off instead. Wipe data from computers and phones before handover, and remember that Belman Road runs on coupons or an annual pass rather than cash.

Bulk items at the curb

Special rules apply

The City collects bulk items only through the paid Special Pick Up, and the rules on what the regular collection will and will not take are published in detail.

City cost & eligibility
From $75 for minimum curbside fee per load or portion of a load, with the City reserving the right to limit what it collects. Limited to addresses inside the city limits, identified by the City as the 22401 ZIP code, and the appointment and fee must be settled before the items go out. Trash service itself requires a paid subscription.
When & how
Book the special pickup on 540-372-1023. On the regular route, trash goes out by 7 a.m. in bags or boxes, with five bags or two boxes per pickup in non-cart areas, and carts return inside by 7 p.m.
Get it ready
Keep bags under thirty pounds and boxes under fifty pounds and eight cubic feet, bundle limbs with rope or twine under three feet long and two feet around with a maximum of two bundles, and keep refused material out of the trash: hazardous waste, paints and insecticides, appliances, furniture, mattresses and other bulk items, brush, stumps and logs, building materials, ammunition, and plate glass or syringes outside a protective container.

Right item.
Right place.

Arrange and pay before the curb

Bulk items only leave through the paid Special Pick Up, and the appointment must be made and the fee paid before anything is placed at the curb. Putting material out without an arrangement violates the city solid waste and litter control sections and can mean cleanup charges plus a misdemeanor punishable by fines and jail time.

Bag, box and bundle limits at the curb

Trash goes out by 7 a.m. in bags or boxes, five bags or two boxes per pickup in non-cart areas, with bags under thirty pounds and boxes under fifty pounds and eight cubic feet. In cart areas everything goes inside the black top cart and extra items beside the cart are not collected, while recyclables stay loose in the blue top cart and limbs are bundled under three feet long and two feet around with a maximum of two bundles.

What the curb will not take

Loose or unbagged trash, hazardous waste such as paints and insecticides, appliances, furniture, mattresses and other bulk items, brush, stumps and logs, building materials such as lumber, metal, blocks, concrete, gravel, soil and drywall, ammunition, and plate glass or syringes outside a protective container are all refused.

Belman Road runs on coupons and passes

The Belman Road Convenience Center only accepts coupons or an annual pass, takes no cash, cards or cheques, and turns away commercial vehicles, moving vans, cargo vehicles, trailers longer than eight feet, box springs and mattresses. Recycling of the listed items is free once the vehicle carries a coupon or pass, and a household that needs to pay by cash or card has to use the Regional Landfill.

Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

TV removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Fredericksburg.

How much does TV removal cost in Fredericksburg?

A flat-screen TV under 42 inches is $79 as the first item and $19 as an additional item. Larger flat screens and tube TVs have their own prices. Loading, transportation and disposal are included. Choose the type that matches your TV and review your total, including any applicable tax, before payment.

Can I get same-day TV pickup in Fredericksburg?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup. Choose from the dates offered at checkout and have the TV outside according to your confirmation. We text you when your hauler is on the way and provide photos when the pickup is done.

Will Dropcurb remove my TV from the wall or carry it downstairs?

You arrange unmounting, disconnection and indoor carrying before pickup. Dropcurb starts at an accessible outdoor location, where we load your TV and take it away. If you need help removing a mounted TV or moving a heavy tube TV outside, arrange that separately before your pickup day.

Do you pick up old tube or CRT televisions?

Yes. Choose Tube TV for an older television with curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Its price is $249 as the first item and $249 as an additional item. A rear-projection television is a different item; send a photo before booking rather than choosing the tube-TV option.

Does my old TV have to work?

Your TV does not need to turn on for removal. Choose its type and size and arrange to have it outside before pickup. A non-working TV and a TV with exposed broken glass are different situations; send a photo of unusual damage so we can confirm the plan before you book.

Where do Fredericksburg televisions go?

Neither the Regional Landfill nor the Belman Road Convenience Center takes a television or a CRT monitor, and the annual household hazardous waste day refuses them as well. The free electronics those sites do take are limited to cell phones, computer towers, iPads, tablets, laptops and printers, so ask the regional board or the city where a television can go.Official guidance

What will Fredericksburg collect at the curb?

Household trash in bags or boxes, with five bags or two boxes per pickup in non-cart areas, and recyclables loose in the city recycling cart or bin. What happens if items are left at the curb without arranging a pickup?

The City treats it as a violation of its solid waste and litter control sections, which can mean cleanup charges based on the cost of removal plus a misdemeanor punishable by jail time, fines of 250 to 2500 dollars, or both.Official guidance

What does Fredericksburg charge for bulk disposal?

The City Special Pick Up has a published minimum fee per load, limited to addresses inside the city limits and paid before the items go out. Self hauling runs on the R-Board fees: a published visit charge at the Regional Landfill, a ten trip coupon book or a calendar year annual pass, a separate per item charge for mattresses and box springs, and higher published rates for oversized loads.Official guidance

Who do Fredericksburg residents call about trash and bulk items?

Public Works at 540-372-1023 for trash service, schedules and the paid special pickup, and the R-Board at 540-658-5279 for the Regional Landfill, the Belman Road Convenience Center, coupons, passes and the hazardous waste day.
