Remodeling, construction and demolition debris

Special rules apply

Building material is written out of the city routes kept here. Construction, remodeling and demolition debris such as carpet, wood, cabinets, concrete, brick, shingles, sheetrock, pipe and glass is refused at the curb and prohibited at the Concord Turnpike Convenience Center, and the city directs it to the Region 2000 Livestock Road Regional Landfill in Rustburg.

City cost & eligibility
No residential rate for construction and demolition debris is published on the pages kept here, and the authority accepts that material as special waste that needs prior approval. Call the Region 2000 Services Authority on 434-455-6086, or the compliance and safety manager on 434-455-6083, and describe the load before it is delivered to 361 Livestock Road in Rustburg.
When & how
There is no collection day for construction material. The city says remodeling and demolition debris must be delivered to the landfill, and private contractors are always responsible for disposing of the brush, limbs, branches and building debris they generate.
Get it ready
Keep building debris out of the trash cart, the bulk pile and the convenience center, where it is prohibited by name. Separate clean inert material such as dirt, brick, block and concrete without rebar from the rest of the load before hauling it, because the landfill takes it at no charge only when it is fragmented into pieces under one cubic foot, kept in separate loads and declared to the scale house operator. Confirm the classification with the authority before loading a vehicle or ordering a container.

What the curb will not take

The city refuses bags, tires, household hazardous waste, construction, demolition and remodeling debris such as carpet, wood and cabinets, and items made of glass or porcelain such as toilets and sinks. Hot ashes, liquids, rocks and construction debris never go in the trash cart, and landlord set outs, evictions and land clearing debris are excluded from the bulk and brush services. Household chemicals and electronics leave the collection route and go to the free April collection day instead.

City of Lynchburg Department of Public Works, Solid Waste Division, with the Region 2000 Services Authority for the regional landfill and special waste

Haul it to the Region 2000 Livestock Road Regional Landfill

A Lynchburg household with bulky waste, a Freon appliance, brush without stumps, tires or construction material that has to leave the city route.

Cost & conditions
From $34 per ton at the residential tipping fee the authority publishes, with the first 500 pounds each calendar month free to City of Lynchburg households. City of Lynchburg residents who verify residency with a driver license or a current utility bill and may bring 500 pounds of household waste each calendar month at no charge with no limit on trips. Construction and demolition material is handled as special waste that needs approval and brush is charged at the commercial rate, so confirm how a load is classified first.
Arrange it
Drive the load to 361 Livestock Road in Rustburg during the site's open hours and keep inert material such as clean dirt, brick, block and concrete without rebar out of the rest of the load. Freon appliances come here because the convenience center will not take them.

The landfill refuses any tire with a rim size over 23 inches, charges brush at the commercial tipping rate instead of using the household allowance, and takes construction and demolition debris only as approved special waste.

Self haul in Lynchburg means two free drop off sites and one seasonal event. Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

Construction debris removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Lynchburg.

How much does construction debris removal cost in Lynchburg?

Pricing is per accepted item. A detached door is $99 as a single item, an ordinary toilet is $79, and a small bathroom vanity is $99. Larger vanities have their own choices. Select the listed items to see the exact combined price. These prices do not cover mixed rubble or loose building materials. Loading, transportation and disposal are included; applicable sales tax appears before payment.

Can I get same-day toilet or vanity pickup in Lynchburg?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup, where available. Checkout shows the dates you can choose. Arrange disconnection, removal and the move outside first, then have the fixture ready by the time in your confirmation. We text you before arrival and provide pickup photos when it is done.

Will you disconnect a sink or take a door off its hinges?

The fixture must already be detached, disconnected and accessible outside at ground level. Arrange plumbing, electrical work, removal from walls or hinges, and indoor carrying before pickup. Dropcurb handles loading and haul-away from your outdoor pickup spot.

Can I add bags of drywall, tile or other demolition waste?

Mixed drywall, tile, concrete, lumber and demolition rubble are not accepted. This page offers pickup for the listed doors, toilets and bathroom vanities that are already removed. Do not book loose building materials as household trash bags or as an extra item. Arrange suitable disposal for those materials with your contractor or a debris specialist.

Can a door, toilet and vanity go in the same pickup?

Yes. Add each listed fixture separately and choose the correct vanity size. Each detached door panel counts as one item. The combined price appears before you book. Keep the fixtures together outside, separate from anything staying, and add a location photo on your order page.

Can I put remodeling debris out for collection in Lynchburg?

No. Construction, demolition and remodeling debris such as carpet, wood and cabinets is refused at the curb and prohibited at the Concord Turnpike Convenience Center. The city directs it to the Region 2000 Livestock Road Regional Landfill at 361 Livestock Road in Rustburg, where it is handled as special waste, so call the authority on 434-455-6086 before you haul it.Official guidance

What does Lynchburg's solid waste service cost?

Trash disposal is $10 per month per City cart, added to the water utility bill, and the same charge applies to a 32 gallon or 64 gallon cart. That fee covers weekly residential collection, the monthly brush and bulk week, the household hazardous waste collection, the drop off recycling sites and the Concord Turnpike Convenience Center. Trash above what the cart holds with the lid closed must go in a prepaid blue bag, and a second cart is billed $20 a month.Official guidance

Does everyone in Lynchburg have to use the city trash service?

City ordinance requires participation in city trash collection for a home, apartment or condo with four units or less, so a resident cannot hire a private hauler, and a property that receives private collection through its HOA is not billed the city fee. The city's trash FAQ adds that apartment residents and households on HOA collection may still use the drop off recycling sites, the household hazardous waste collection and the Concord Turnpike Convenience Center.Official guidance

What can I take to a Lynchburg recycling drop off center?

Flattened corrugated cardboard, rinsed and crushed drink and food cans, newspapers and inserts, mixed paper, and plastic containers numbered 1 through 7 that are rinsed and crushed. The five city centers do not take glass, plastic bags, textiles, rugs, bedding or carpet, electronics or small appliances, Styrofoam, food, paper cups and plates, concrete, wood or construction materials, yard waste and leaves, plastic toys and tubs, tires or diapers.Official guidance
