Match your item

Construction cleanup starts with the right items.

We currently accept the doors, toilets and bathroom vanities listed here, already detached and ready outside. Choose each item separately. Mixed drywall, tile, concrete, lumber and demolition rubble are not accepted, including in bags.

Doors

Count each detached door panel separately. Have it removed from its hinges before pickup. A whole installed doorway or garage door is not the same item.

Toilets

Choose Toilet for an ordinary household toilet that has already been disconnected, drained and moved outside. Text a photo before booking if yours is broken or has loose sharp pieces.

Bathroom vanities

Choose the small, standard or large bathroom vanity that matches your sink cabinet. A makeup table has a separate choice. Plumbing disconnection and removal from the wall happen before pickup.

Construction and remodeling debris

Not on the regular city route

Construction and demolition material is not collected in the city cart or through the large item service, so it goes to the county landfill by weight or out on the ward's annual cleanup day.

City cost & eligibility
From $58 per ton of construction debris, concrete or asphalt at the regional landfill, with commercial refuse, commercial brush and mulch at a higher published per ton rate and tires priced separately. A load that originates in Frederick County, Clarke County or the City of Winchester and is weighed at the landfill scale, with the current amount confirmed at the gate.
When & how
Haul the material to the regional landfill at 280 Landfill Road during scale hours, which are Monday to Friday 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday 7 a.m. to 1 p.m., or put it out on the ward's annual cleanup day after registering.
Get it ready
Keep construction debris, lumber, drywall, insulation and pipes out of the city cart, separate concrete and asphalt from mixed debris, keep the load covered, and take remodeling waste such as lumber, pipes, carpeting and yard debris to the landfill citizens' center at 146 Landfill Road when the load is a bulky one.

Setting out for the ward cleanup day

Register ahead of the ward's cleanup day, because registration closes at 11:59 p.m. the day before. Put the items at the curb by 6 a.m. and no more than 24 hours early, keep them clear of the sidewalk, street, mailbox and driveway, and expect the load to be collected over several days by different trucks, with anything still out after two weeks reported on (540) 773-1340. The regular trash, recycling and yard waste carts are not part of the cleanup pile.

Items that never go in the cart

Appliances, furniture, lumber, large items, tires, construction debris and yard waste are prohibited in the city cart, and hazardous material, building waste, industrial waste, automobiles and automotive parts are not collected by the city at all. Paint, electronics, batteries and chemicals go to the county landfill convenience center on its published collection days, yard waste goes out separately on Fridays, and construction material and tires go to the regional landfill where they are weighed and charged.

Use the ward's annual cleanup day

A Winchester household with regular trash service in a ward whose cleanup day is scheduled, holding items the ordinary collection refuses, from a couch and old paint cans to construction debris and electronics.

Cost & conditions
No charge. Free to a city household that registers in advance for its ward's date: Ward 2 on July 20 2026, Ward 3 on October 5 2026, Ward 4 on January 4 2027 and Ward 1 on April 5 2027.
Arrange it
Register before 11:59 p.m. the day before the ward's cleanup day, then put the items at the curb by 6 a.m. and no more than 24 hours ahead, and leave them there while different trucks work through the load over the following days.

One cleanup day each year for each ward, registration is required, the regular trash, recycling and yard waste collections still run on their own schedule, the pile has to stay clear of sidewalks, streets, mailboxes and driveways, and anything still out after two weeks is reported on (540) 773-1340.

A Winchester resident with a personal vehicle hauling household waste, construction debris, appliances, furniture, mattresses, tires or yard debris.

Cost & conditions
From $58 per ton of construction debris, concrete or asphalt at the regional landfill, with commercial refuse, commercial brush and mulch at a higher published per ton rate, tires priced per tire or by the ton above ten in a load, and the household rate confirmed at the scale. Taking it somewhere yourself?

Drop off appliances, furniture, mattresses and remodeling waste

Frederick County Landfill Citizens' Center

146 Landfill Rd., Winchester, VA 22602

Large and bulky items such as major and small household appliances, air conditioners, dehumidifiers, lawn equipment with fluids removed, auto batteries, propane tanks, indoor and outdoor furniture, shelving, mattresses, box springs, and remodeling waste such as lumber, pipes, carpeting and yard debris. Used motor oil, antifreeze and cooking oil in sealed jugs are taken here, along with batteries.

Doors have to be removed from refrigerators and freezers before the appliance is left. The county's neighborhood convenience sites are for its own taxpayers, so a Winchester resident uses the regional landfill and this center instead. Hazardous chemicals are accepted only during the third Wednesday window, none of the waste may come from outside the service area, and the center closes at noon or all day on the county's published dates.

Monday through Friday 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., closed Sunday.

The county page describes household drop off at its convenience centers as free to county taxpayers and permits City of Winchester residents to use the regional landfill instead, where loads are weighed and the published prices cover the commercial, construction and tire streams, so call the landfill on (540) 665-5643, option 1, and confirm what a Winchester household pays for a bulky or appliance load before hauling it.

Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

Construction debris removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Winchester.

How much does construction debris removal cost in Winchester?

Pricing is per accepted item. A detached door is $99 as a single item, an ordinary toilet is $79, and a small bathroom vanity is $99. Larger vanities have their own choices. Select the listed items to see the exact combined price. These prices do not cover mixed rubble or loose building materials. Loading, transportation and disposal are included; applicable sales tax appears before payment.

Can I get same-day toilet or vanity pickup in Winchester?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup, where available. Checkout shows the dates you can choose. Arrange disconnection, removal and the move outside first, then have the fixture ready by the time in your confirmation. We text you before arrival and provide pickup photos when it is done.

Will you disconnect a sink or take a door off its hinges?

The fixture must already be detached, disconnected and accessible outside at ground level. Arrange plumbing, electrical work, removal from walls or hinges, and indoor carrying before pickup. Dropcurb handles loading and haul-away from your outdoor pickup spot.

Can I add bags of drywall, tile or other demolition waste?

Mixed drywall, tile, concrete, lumber and demolition rubble are not accepted. This page offers pickup for the listed doors, toilets and bathroom vanities that are already removed. Do not book loose building materials as household trash bags or as an extra item. Arrange suitable disposal for those materials with your contractor or a debris specialist.

Can a door, toilet and vanity go in the same pickup?

Yes. Add each listed fixture separately and choose the correct vanity size. Each detached door panel counts as one item. The combined price appears before you book. Keep the fixtures together outside, separate from anything staying, and add a location photo on your order page.

Does Winchester collect construction debris?

No. Construction and demolition material is barred from the city cart and is not part of the large item service. Take it to the Frederick County Regional Landfill at 280 Landfill Road, where construction debris, concrete and asphalt are weighed and charged by the ton, or put it out on the ward's annual cleanup day, which lists construction debris, boards, drywall, insulation and pipes among the items it takes for households that register.Official guidance

What does a large item pickup cost in Winchester?

A scheduled city large item collection is billed at the published small load amount for the service with other applicable fees added for items such as electronics, the ward's annual cleanup day is free to households that register in advance, and a self hauled load at the county landfill is weighed at the scale, so confirm the current amount with Public Works on (540) 667-1815 before the items go out.Official guidance
