Match the screen

Flat screen or tube? Start with the shape.

The TV’s type and size determine which item to choose. A new model and an old model can use the same option if their shape and screen size match.

Flat-screen TVs

Measure the screen diagonally, corner to corner, without the frame. Choose under 42 inches or 42 inches and larger. A TV measuring exactly 42 inches belongs to the larger option.

Tube TVs

An older tube or CRT television has curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Choose Tube TV even if its screen is small. A rear-projection TV is different; send a photo before booking so we can check the fit.

TV stands and other electronics

The TV price covers the television. Add a media console, computer monitor or other item separately if it is going too. Choose only what you want removed and review the combined price.

Televisions, computers and electronics

Special rules apply

Televisions, monitors and computers recycle free through E-Cycle Washington, and they are not on the city bulky item list.

City cost & eligibility
Free at an E-Cycle Washington collection site for computers, monitors and televisions, or charged at the county center as garbage with an 18 dollar per item handling fee for a television or monitor. The HazoHouse refuses electronics outright.
When & how
Drop the device at a listed E-Cycle site such as the Goodwill store at 400 Cooper Point Road SW, open daily, or A+ Computers at 2724 Pacific Avenue SE on Tuesday through Friday afternoons, or pay the county rate at the Waste and Recovery Center in Lacey.
Get it ready
Keep electronics out of the garbage cart and the recycling cart, call ahead before dropping off a large or heavy television, and expect the county sites to handle electronics as garbage rather than as recycling.

Electronics have their own route

Televisions, monitors and computers belong at an E-Cycle Washington collection site rather than in a cart or in the bulk pile, and a large or heavy television is worth a call ahead. The county's own sites handle electronics as garbage for a fee, so a free E-Cycle drop off is the route worth planning first.

Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

TV removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Olympia.

How much does TV removal cost in Olympia?

A flat-screen TV under 42 inches is $79 as the first item and $19 as an additional item. Larger flat screens and tube TVs have their own prices. Loading, transportation and disposal are included. Choose the type that matches your TV and review your total, including any applicable tax, before payment.

Can I get same-day TV pickup in Olympia?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup. Choose from the dates offered at checkout and have the TV outside according to your confirmation. We text you when your hauler is on the way and provide photos when the pickup is done.

Will Dropcurb remove my TV from the wall or carry it downstairs?

You arrange unmounting, disconnection and indoor carrying before pickup. Dropcurb starts at an accessible outdoor location, where we load your TV and take it away. If you need help removing a mounted TV or moving a heavy tube TV outside, arrange that separately before your pickup day.

Do you pick up old tube or CRT televisions?

Yes. Choose Tube TV for an older television with curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Its price is $249 as the first item and $249 as an additional item. A rear-projection television is a different item; send a photo before booking rather than choosing the tube-TV option.

Does my old TV have to work?

Your TV does not need to turn on for removal. Choose its type and size and arrange to have it outside before pickup. A non-working TV and a TV with exposed broken glass are different situations; send a photo of unusual damage so we can confirm the plan before you book.

How do I recycle a television in Olympia?

Use the state E-Cycle Washington program, which recycles computers, monitors and televisions free at listed collection sites such as the Goodwill store on Cooper Point Road and A+ Computers on Pacific Avenue, where the site list gives the days and hours. The county's own sites are not free for electronics: at the Waste and Recovery Center a television or monitor carries the garbage rate plus a per item handling fee, and the HazoHouse does not accept electronics at all.Official guidance
