Treadmill, walking pad or commercial model?
Household treadmill includes folding home models with a tall console. Choose Walking pad for a compact under-desk model, or Commercial treadmill for a large gym machine. All equipment opens those choices.
An exercise bike, elliptical or rower
Spin, upright, recumbent and air bikes all use Exercise bike, including Peloton and other brands. One elliptical includes its connected base, handles and pedals. Rowing machines and Pilates reformers have their own choices.
Weights, racks and benches
Add together the pounds of loose dumbbells, kettlebells, plates and barbells. Free weights are priced in 10 lb units, rounding the combined weight up. For example, 25 lb uses three units. Add a stand, rack or bench separately if it is going too.

A pickup day is not an exact arrival window. Tell us before booking about a shared loading area, restricted outdoor access or equipment whose size or setup you are unsure how to select.

Exercise equipment is named eligible bulky waste, with stationary bikes, treadmills and weight benches called out by example, so a machine leaves in the same free annual curbside pickup as furniture and appliances.
City cost & eligibility
No charge. Free of charge for residential customers of University Place Refuse and Recycling whose account is in good standing, within the five items allowed once per calendar year. The item still has to be empty, under 300 pounds and inside the 4 feet by 8 feet by 3 feet limits.
When & how
Book the pickup at 253-564-3212 for the current or following month, then put the machine out by 7 a.m. on the assigned day.
Get it ready
Take the machine down as far as it comes apart so the pieces are manageable, keep the frame and the loose weights together, and empty anything the machine holds before it goes out.
Large items do not go out on their own. Call University Place Refuse and Recycling at 253-564-3212, name every item you want collected, and take the date the office gives you. The hauler books only the current and following month, the account has to be in good standing, and nothing can be added once the pickup is scheduled. Items go to the curb by 7 a.m. on the assigned day and not before 5 p.m. the day before.

A University Place household with a couch, mattress, appliance, exercise machine or another large item that does not fit the cart.
Cost & conditions
No charge. Free of charge for residential customers of University Place Refuse and Recycling with an account in good standing, up to five items once per calendar year. Multi-family residents who do not pay for their own garbage service are outside the program, and an appliance with a compressor carries a decommissioning fee.

Five items, once a year, no item over 300 pounds or larger than 4 feet by 8 feet by 3 feet, everything empty and reachable with nothing nested inside another item. No electronics, glass items, home improvement material, hazardous material or business items.

Dropcurb pickup starts outside. Arrange indoor carrying, stairs and any dismantling needed to get your equipment out before pickup. Check the moving instructions for your exact model and arrange suitable help. We load and haul away the equipment from an accessible outdoor spot.
Which option covers a Peloton, spin bike or recumbent bike?+
Choose Exercise bike for one stationary bike, including spin, upright, recumbent and air bikes. Peloton and other brands use the same stationary-bike choice. A treadmill, walking pad and outdoor bicycle are different items, so select their matching options.
How do I book free weights, a weight rack or a bench?+
Enter the combined weight in pounds for your dumbbells, kettlebells, plates and barbells. Booking rounds that total up to the next 10 lb unit: 25 lb uses three units. Stands, racks and benches are separate items and do not include the loose weights. Add each one that is going.
Can a treadmill go out with the curbside bulky pickup?+
Yes. Exercise equipment is on the eligible bulky waste list, and stationary bikes, treadmills and weight benches are named by example, so the machine comes off the curb in the free annual pickup.
