Yakima sells an optional 96-gallon yard waste cart with weekly collection from March 1 through the end of November, and the city charges nothing for the winter months.

City cost & eligibility
From $20.95 per month for the first 96-gallon yard waste cart, billed March through November, with a second cart at a lower monthly amount. Single-family residences and multi-family complexes that subscribe to the optional city yard waste cart; the service is not free and there is no charge December through February.
When & how
Weekly collection runs March 1 through the end of November on the regular refuse day, with the cart out by 6 a.m. and four feet from other carts.
Get it ready
Keep plastic bags, food scraps, animal waste, ashes, sod, building material, and tree trunks or large branches out of the cart. Removing the cart costs a fee and a suspension runs 30 to 90 days.
