Use standard contractor bags for the online price. Every bag must be carryable and weigh 50 lb or less.

Leaves, grass and small trimmings.

Bag the loose material before pickup. Small branches must fit inside the bag without making it unsafe to handle.

A loose pile needs its own plan.

Unbagged brush, branches or yard waste? Text photos and your ZIP code for a custom quote. Do not book a loose yard pile as a number of contractor bags.

Keep dirt and gravel separate.

Neither is included in a contractor bag. Tell our team about soil, rocks, sod or mixed heavy material before booking.

Yard waste, branches and leaves

Special rules apply

Loose yard material goes in the yard waste container, branches and larger material go to the Compost Facility, and a monthly branch pickup is available to current yard waste customers.

City cost & eligibility
The yard waste container is a subscription service, the monthly branch pickup is free only up to the first cubic yard for current customers, and Compost Facility charges follow the Solid Waste Fee Schedule, so confirm the current terms.
When & how
Set the container out on the collection day, call the Sanitation Division before the third Thursday of the month for branch pickup, or use the Compost Facility Tuesday through Saturday 9am to 5pm.
Get it ready
Keep material loose and unbagged in the container, because bags including paper yard bags are refused. Cut branches to 3 feet, leave them unbundled and set them at the curb no earlier than 4pm the day before a scheduled pickup. Colored mulch, stump grindings, root balls and roots are refused at the Compost Facility, where root material is routed to landfill fees.
