Match the screen

Flat screen or tube? Start with the shape.

The TV’s type and size determine which item to choose. A new model and an old model can use the same option if their shape and screen size match.

Flat-screen TVs

Measure the screen diagonally, corner to corner, without the frame. Choose under 42 inches or 42 inches and larger. A TV measuring exactly 42 inches belongs to the larger option.

Tube TVs

An older tube or CRT television has curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Choose Tube TV even if its screen is small. A rear-projection TV is different; send a photo before booking so we can check the fit.

TV stands and other electronics

The TV price covers the television. Add a media console, computer monitor or other item separately if it is going too. Choose only what you want removed and review the combined price.

Televisions, computers and electronics

Accepted with preparation

Electronics are refused at the landfill as universal waste and cannot go in the recycling bin. They go through the City of Tucson household hazardous waste program at the Los Reales campus or at a monthly community collection event, and the city also lists local recyclers as alternatives.

City cost & eligibility
The two program pages publish different fees for households outside the City of Tucson. The City of Tucson household hazardous waste page charges 15 dollars per visit for Marana, Oro Valley, Sahuarita and unincorporated Pima County, and the Pima County waste page publishes a 10 dollar drop-off fee for residents living outside the City of Tucson limits, while City of Tucson residents drop free. Unincorporated Pima County households, which includes Tanque Verde, still need a driver's license or a current utility bill as proof of residency, so confirm the exact fee before travelling.
When & how
Drop off at the Los Reales campus on Thursday, Friday or Saturday from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.; the site is closed on the second Saturday of every month except during the summer. Community collection events also run from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., with 2026 dates on September 12, October 10, November 14 and December 12.
Get it ready
Keep televisions, monitors, computers and printers out of the recycling bin and out of the landfill load, wipe personal data before handover, and bring the proof of residency that the program asks for. Accepted items include computers and laptops, monitors, printers and scanners, televisions, phones and tablets, keyboards, cables, chargers and small media players.

Keep universal waste, liquids and batteries out of the load

The landfill refuses regulated hazardous waste, universal waste, bulk liquids, lead acid batteries, waste oil, explosives, ammunition, intact vehicles and anything banned by federal, state or city rules. Electronics fall under that refusal, which is why a television or computer goes to the household hazardous waste program instead of the landfill gate.

Pima County Department of Environmental Quality, with the City of Tucson Los Reales Sustainability Campus and household hazardous waste program

Use the household hazardous waste program for electronics

A household with a television, monitor, computer, printer or other electronic device that the landfill and the recycling bin both refuse.

Cost & conditions
$15 per visit fee for residents of unincorporated Pima County at the household hazardous waste program, while City of Tucson residents drop free. Unincorporated Pima County households, with a driver's license or current utility bill as proof of residency. The Pima County waste page prints a lower outside the city figure, so confirm the amount at the site.
Arrange it
Bring the items to the Los Reales campus on Thursday, Friday or Saturday between 7 a.m. and 2 p.m., or to a community collection event from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. on the scheduled date.

The drop-off closes on the second Saturday of every month except in the summer months, the community events pause during the summer, and the fee is charged per visit rather than per item.

Take electronics to a local recycler

A household that would rather use a community electronics recycler than drive to the Los Reales campus on a program day.

Cost & conditions
The city lists the organizations without publishing their rates. One of them, Keeper of the Grumper, states that many items including computers, televisions, phones and cables are accepted free of charge, and the others set their own terms, so confirm with the one you choose.
Arrange it
The City of Tucson electronics page lists Keeper of the Grumper, ACE Recycling and We Care Tucson, each with a link. Contact the organization first, since hours and acceptance lists are set by each group.

These are independent organizations rather than the county or city program, so nothing about the household hazardous waste fee, the drop-off window or the accepted device list carries over to them.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Self hauling from Tanque Verde means one of two trips. Los Reales at 5300 E. Los Reales Road is the regional landfill for Pima County and takes mattresses, furniture, rugs, green waste, concrete and asphalt and construction debris from Monday through Saturday, six to five, charging a minimum for a covered load under 2,000 pounds, more for an uncovered load and a per appliance fee for anything designed to use refrigerant. The county transfer station at 14425 N. Oracle Road is the smaller stop, open Monday through Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., with free recycling drop-off, free antifreeze, battery, oil and paint drop-off, free resident tires up to five a year and household appliances in the scrap metal stream, though its refrigerators have to arrive without Freon. Electronics cannot go to either site, because the landfill refuses universal waste and the recycling bins refuse them too, so a television or computer goes to the household hazardous waste drop-off on the Los Reales campus or to a community collection event, where unincorporated Pima County addresses pay the program's per visit fee. Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

TV removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Tanque Verde.

How much does TV removal cost in Tanque Verde?

A flat-screen TV under 42 inches is $79 as the first item and $19 as an additional item. Larger flat screens and tube TVs have their own prices. Loading, transportation and disposal are included. Choose the type that matches your TV and review your total, including any applicable tax, before payment.

Can I get same-day TV pickup in Tanque Verde?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup. Choose from the dates offered at checkout and have the TV outside according to your confirmation. We text you when your hauler is on the way and provide photos when the pickup is done.

Will Dropcurb remove my TV from the wall or carry it downstairs?

You arrange unmounting, disconnection and indoor carrying before pickup. Dropcurb starts at an accessible outdoor location, where we load your TV and take it away. If you need help removing a mounted TV or moving a heavy tube TV outside, arrange that separately before your pickup day.

Do you pick up old tube or CRT televisions?

Yes. Choose Tube TV for an older television with curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Its price is $249 as the first item and $249 as an additional item. A rear-projection television is a different item; send a photo before booking rather than choosing the tube-TV option.

Does my old TV have to work?

Your TV does not need to turn on for removal. Choose its type and size and arrange to have it outside before pickup. A non-working TV and a TV with exposed broken glass are different situations; send a photo of unusual damage so we can confirm the plan before you book.

Where do televisions and computers go in Tanque Verde?

Through the City of Tucson household hazardous waste program, which accepts computers, monitors, printers, televisions, phones, cables and small media players. Electronics are refused at the landfill as universal waste and must never go in the recycling bin. Residents of unincorporated Pima County pay the program's per visit fee and should bring a driver's license or current utility bill.Official guidance

What does electronics drop-off cost for a county address?

Residents of unincorporated Pima County pay a per visit fee at the City of Tucson household hazardous waste program, while City of Tucson residents drop free. The program's own pages print the fee for out of city addresses and Pima County's waste page prints a lower figure, so confirm the amount with proof of residency in hand before the trip.Official guidance

What will the landfill refuse at the gate?

Los Reales refuses explosives and ammunition, regulated hazardous waste, PCBs, universal waste, radioactive material, bulk liquids, raw septage, intact automobiles, lead acid batteries, waste oil and anything banned by federal, state or city rules. That refusal list is why electronics go to the household hazardous waste program instead of the landfill.Official guidance
