Before you offer the chair
Ask the receiving Goodwill about the chair’s condition and disclose any broken wheels, a damaged seat, a lift that will not hold height, or missing parts. Treat a usable desk chair and a broken office chair as separate donation questions; one local policy does not establish what another Goodwill will accept.
If the local organization accepts it, follow that organization’s instructions for drop-off or pickup. Do not assume a regional office-chair guide applies nationwide.

Frequently asked questions
Does Goodwill take desk chairs?
Sometimes, depending on the local Goodwill organization and its current furniture policy. Goodwill of North Georgia lists office chairs in an office donation guide, while Goodwill NYNJ excludes furniture. Confirm with the receiving organization before arranging transport.
Will Goodwill accept a broken office chair?
Ask the receiving Goodwill directly and disclose the broken wheels, damaged seat, lift that will not hold height, or missing parts. Goodwill policies are regional, so acceptance of a broken chair cannot be assumed from another organization’s policy.
