Check the frame before contacting the donation program
Have the bed’s size, material, and complete parts ready to describe. Confirm that you have all rails, slats and hardware, and take clear photos. Ask whether the local program accepts a frame without a mattress or box spring and whether pickup access works for your location.

If Salvation Army cannot accept it
St. Vincent de Paul Los Angeles lists complete bed frames as accepted and incomplete frames as refused, but those are local requirements rather than national rules.

A practical pickup option
Dropcurb can handle an accepted bed frame that is already outside and accessible, including loading, transport and disposal. Its bed-frame scope covers regular metal, wood or platform frames; mattresses and box springs are separate items. You can book before moving the frame outside, but the frame must be ready at the accessible outdoor location before pickup. If you need indoor carrying, use a service that includes that labor.
