Brentwood regulates construction and demolition debris rather than collecting it. Projects over the city's size or cost thresholds must divert at least 50 percent of the material and file a Waste Management Plan through Green Halo, and no residential construction drop-off is published.
City cost & eligibility
The city publishes no construction collection fee because it does not collect the material: a project follows the diversion ordinance, and a self-hauled load or a private container is priced at the facility gate or by the hauler, so the rate is confirmed before the load moves.
When & how
Start with the Building Department before the work begins, because a project that crosses the threshold needs a Waste Management Plan through Green Halo that records disposal and diversion. A household load outside a permit goes to one of the two public disposal facilities the city lists.
Get it ready
Keep construction debris out of the garbage, recycling and organics carts, and keep it out of a cleanup event load, whose list covers household material rather than renovation material. Sort recyclable and reusable material out before a load leaves the site, because the ordinance expects at least half of the debris to be diverted.
Carts out by 5 a.m., three feet apart, lids closed
Set carts at the curb the night before or by 5 a.m. on the collection day, with the lid opening facing the street and the wheels against the curb, three feet apart and at least six feet from vehicles, mailboxes, light posts and basketball hoops. Lids have to close, because an open lid means the cart is not serviced and a return trip carries an extra fee, and residents are asked to stay 15 feet back from a working truck.
Only Christmas and New Year's Day move a Brentwood collection day
Christmas Day and New Year's Day are the only two holidays that affect garbage service, and when one of them falls on a weekday the collection runs one day later for that week only. A holiday that falls on a Saturday or Sunday changes nothing, and every other holiday keeps the regular schedule.
