Match the screen

Flat screen or tube? Start with the shape.

The TV’s type and size determine which item to choose. A new model and an old model can use the same option if their shape and screen size match.

Flat-screen TVs

Measure the screen diagonally, corner to corner, without the frame. Choose under 42 inches or 42 inches and larger. A TV measuring exactly 42 inches belongs to the larger option.

Tube TVs

An older tube or CRT television has curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Choose Tube TV even if its screen is small. A rear-projection TV is different; send a photo before booking so we can check the fit.

TV stands and other electronics

The TV price covers the television. Add a media console, computer monitor or other item separately if it is going too. Choose only what you want removed and review the combined price.

  2. Choose a permitted outdoor spot.

Use a stable, accessible location with a clear path for loading. Keep the TV separate from anything staying. Check building rules before placing it in a shared pickup area.

Televisions and electronics

Accepted with preparation

Televisions and other electronic devices are accepted as bulky items, and the flyer caps a household at three electronic items a calendar year.

City cost & eligibility
Electronic waste is accepted on the bulky program, limited to three electronic items a calendar year, and the adopted fiscal year 2026-27 rate schedule also carries a separate e-waste pickup line at $35.67. Confirm with Waste Management at 1-800-423-9986 whether a request is covered by the free allowance or billed at that rate.
When & how
Schedule the pickup at least 48 hours ahead at cityofchino.org/wmbulkyitempickup or by calling Waste Management at 1-800-423-9986, or take the device to the City household hazardous waste event on the second or fourth Saturday of the month.
Get it ready
Keep electronics out of all three carts, because Waste Management lists electronic waste as non-acceptable container material. Wipe personal data from a computer, phone or drive before it leaves the property. The City event takes televisions, printers, laptops and personal computers.

Right item.
Right place.

A bulky pickup starts with a scheduling call

Nothing goes to the curb just because it is large. The pickup is scheduled with Waste Management at least 48 hours ahead, the items join the carts before 6:00 a.m. on the regular collection day, and a different truck may come for them.

For your Dropcurb pickup

Use a permitted, accessible outdoor spot. Arrange the move out of your home, keep shared access clear and follow your confirmation’s readiness instructions. Check with your building about access or staging limits before booking.

Bulky pickup beyond the free allowance

A household that has used the three free pickups for the year and still has large items to clear.

Cost & conditions
From $44.59 for the first item in a paid bulky item pickup. The City's adopted fiscal year 2026-27 integrated waste rate schedule, effective July 1, 2026, prices a paid bulky pickup by the item, with each additional item at its own scheduled amount. Waste Management confirms the amount when the request is placed.
Arrange it
Call Waste Management at 1-800-423-9986 to arrange the pickup, then set the items out on the regular collection day.

The charge comes from the City's adopted schedule rather than from this guide, and it covers the pickup only for items on the accepted bulky list.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Chino has no city-owned landfill or transfer station, so a resident who hauls material drives to a San Bernardino County site. The closest is Mid-Valley Landfill at 2390 Alder Avenue in Rialto, open weekdays from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., with San Timoteo Landfill at 31 Refuse Road in Redlands as another option open Monday to Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. County loads are charged by weight, a load has to be covered or the fee doubles, and items over ten feet long, liquids, sealed containers, mercury and lead items, medical waste and waste from outside the county are refused. Paint, oil, batteries, bulbs, chemicals, medications and electronic waste go instead to the City household hazardous waste event at 5050 Schaefer Avenue on the second or fourth Saturday of the month from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., free to Chino and county residents, with televisions, printers, laptops and computers on the accepted list. Tires are not part of the bulky program, so they go to a retailer or to a county site, which takes up to nine rollable tires per load off the rim for a fee. Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

TV removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Chino.

How much does TV removal cost in Chino?

A flat-screen TV under 42 inches is $79 as the first item and $19 as an additional item. Larger flat screens and tube TVs have their own prices. Loading, transportation and disposal are included. Choose the type that matches your TV and review your total, including any applicable tax, before payment.

Can I get same-day TV pickup in Chino?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup. Choose from the dates offered at checkout and have the TV outside according to your confirmation. We text you when your hauler is on the way and provide photos when the pickup is done.

Will Dropcurb remove my TV from the wall or carry it downstairs?

You arrange unmounting, disconnection and indoor carrying before pickup. Dropcurb starts at an accessible outdoor location, where we load your TV and take it away. If you need help removing a mounted TV or moving a heavy tube TV outside, arrange that separately before your pickup day.

Do you pick up old tube or CRT televisions?

Yes. Choose Tube TV for an older television with curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Its price is $249 as the first item and $249 as an additional item. A rear-projection television is a different item; send a photo before booking rather than choosing the tube-TV option.

Does my old TV have to work?

Your TV does not need to turn on for removal. Choose its type and size and arrange to have it outside before pickup. A non-working TV and a TV with exposed broken glass are different situations; send a photo of unusual damage so we can confirm the plan before you book.

Can a television go into the trash cart?

No. Waste Management lists electronic waste as non-acceptable container material in Chino, and the bulky flyer accepts electronic waste as a bulky item with a limit of three electronic items a calendar year. A television can also go to the City household hazardous waste event.Official guidance

Why are televisions treated as hazardous in California?

California law treats nonfunctioning cathode ray tubes and the mercury bulbs in televisions, laptops, tablets and monitors as hazardous waste, so they are not trash. The state Covered Electronic Waste Recycling Program funds household collection through approved collectors.Official guidance

Who collects trash in Chino?

The City contracts all refuse and recycling service to Waste Management, including collection, disposal and customer service, while the City bills residential accounts on the utility bill. The hauler's customer service line is 1-800-423-9986 and the City Utilities Division is 909-334-3264.Official guidance

How is the residential trash rate set?

The City Council adopts the rate each year. Resolution 2026-037 confirms a five percent adjustment to the service components effective July 1, 2026, and the resolution states that the disposal components are passed through, with the landfill tipping fee set by Riverside County and the organics processing rate set by the franchisee's processor.Official guidance

Who handles service for apartments and shared buildings?

Waste Management handles collection for multi-family and commercial accounts, and the City directs organics questions from apartment residents to the property manager. A renter should ask the manager who holds the account before scheduling anything with the hauler.Official guidance

What do I do with paint, chemicals, batteries and medicines?

Chino and San Bernardino County residents can take household hazardous waste to the Public Works Services Yard at 5050 Schaefer Avenue on the second or fourth Saturday of the month from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., free of charge, with a limit of 15 gallons or 125 pounds per visit in containers no larger than 5 gallons. Sharps and business waste are not accepted, and the City runs a sharps mail-back kit through Waste Management instead.Official guidance

Where do tires and scrap metal go?

Tires are refused in the carts and on a bulky pickup, so they go to a tire retailer or to a San Bernardino County site, which takes up to nine rollable tires per load off the rim for an added fee. Large pieces of metal are also left off the bulky program.Official guidance
