Match your item

Construction cleanup starts with the right items.

We currently accept the doors, toilets and bathroom vanities listed here, already detached and ready outside. Choose each item separately. Mixed drywall, tile, concrete, lumber and demolition rubble are not accepted, including in bags.

Doors

Count each detached door panel separately. Have it removed from its hinges before pickup. A whole installed doorway or garage door is not the same item.

Toilets

Choose Toilet for an ordinary household toilet that has already been disconnected, drained and moved outside. Text a photo before booking if yours is broken or has loose sharp pieces.

Bathroom vanities

Choose the small, standard or large bathroom vanity that matches your sink cabinet. A makeup table has a separate choice. Plumbing disconnection and removal from the wall happen before pickup.

Construction and demolition debris

Accepted with preparation

Construction material is accepted at the transfer station but it is one of the charged categories rather than household trash: the site prices source separated clean inerts such as asphalt, brick and concrete lower than mixed construction and demolition material such as carpet, dirt, drywall, fencing, packing material, pallets, pipe and wood.

City cost & eligibility
From $17.94 per ton for source separated clean inerts such as asphalt, brick and concrete at the McFarland-Delano Transfer Station, with mixed construction and demolition material at the higher published per-ton rate and out-of-county waste refused. Kern County residential loads at the McFarland-Delano Transfer Station; the rate schedule takes effect July 1, 2026 and the site charges by weight at the gate.
When & how
Deliver during the site's open days, Sunday, Monday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and leave the load covered because the county adds a charge for an untarped or unsecured load on top of the gate fee.
Get it ready
Separate clean asphalt, brick and concrete from mixed demolition material before the trip, because the two are priced differently, and keep liquids, hot ashes and hazardous waste out of the load entirely. Material generated outside Kern County is refused, so only county waste belongs in the vehicle.

Cover and secure every load before the gate

Kern County charges extra for an untarped or unsecured load, so tarp or tie down anything headed to the McFarland-Delano Transfer Station. At the site, stop at the gatehouse for the load check, take recyclables to the diversion area, take the rest to the transfer face, follow the speed limit signs and follow the directional arrows.

The Delano transfer station is closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays

The McFarland-Delano Transfer Station opens Sunday, Monday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., so nothing can be dropped on a Tuesday or Wednesday. Every county disposal site closes for New Year's Day, Easter Sunday, the 4th of July, Thanksgiving and Christmas Day.

Only Kern County waste is accepted, and some streams are refused

Waste generated outside Kern County is refused at every county disposal site, and the transfer station will not take firearms or explosives, hazardous waste, hot ashes, liquids of any kind or non-friable asbestos. Anything out of the ordinary should be cleared with Kern County Public Works before it is loaded into a vehicle.

Household chemicals travel with limits and stay in the vehicle

A resident may carry no more than 15 gallons or 125 pounds of hazardous material per vehicle per trip, no single container may hold more than five gallons, materials must not be mixed and containers must be closed, sturdy and not leaking with the original label or a clear description of the contents. At the facility an attendant hands you a short form for your name, address and signature and removes the material from your trunk or back seat while you fill it in, and business waste is not accepted at the events.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Kern County does not charge residents a disposal fee for ordinary household trash, and that free category covers appliances including refrigerators, stoves, washers and dryers, furniture including sofas and mattresses, green waste, used motor oil, paint and electronic waste, with cathode ray tube televisions and monitors listed at no charge. Charged material is separated out: source separated clean inerts such as asphalt, brick and concrete at one per-ton rate, mixed construction and demolition material including carpet, drywall, fencing, wood and pallets at a higher per-ton rate, tires at a price per tire by size, and an untarped or unsecured load at an extra charge or double the gate fee. Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

Construction debris removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Delano.

How much does construction debris removal cost in Delano?

Pricing is per accepted item. A detached door is $99 as a single item, an ordinary toilet is $79, and a small bathroom vanity is $99. Larger vanities have their own choices. Select the listed items to see the exact combined price. These prices do not cover mixed rubble or loose building materials. Loading, transportation and disposal are included; applicable sales tax appears before payment.

Can I get same-day toilet or vanity pickup in Delano?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup, where available. Checkout shows the dates you can choose. Arrange disconnection, removal and the move outside first, then have the fixture ready by the time in your confirmation. We text you before arrival and provide pickup photos when it is done.

Will you disconnect a sink or take a door off its hinges?

The fixture must already be detached, disconnected and accessible outside at ground level. Arrange plumbing, electrical work, removal from walls or hinges, and indoor carrying before pickup. Dropcurb handles loading and haul-away from your outdoor pickup spot.

Can I add bags of drywall, tile or other demolition waste?

Mixed drywall, tile, concrete, lumber and demolition rubble are not accepted. This page offers pickup for the listed doors, toilets and bathroom vanities that are already removed. Do not book loose building materials as household trash bags or as an extra item. Arrange suitable disposal for those materials with your contractor or a debris specialist.

Can a door, toilet and vanity go in the same pickup?

Yes. Add each listed fixture separately and choose the correct vanity size. Each detached door panel counts as one item. The combined price appears before you book. Keep the fixtures together outside, separate from anything staying, and add a location photo on your order page.

Does Delano charge for construction debris?

Yes, and the transfer station is the delivery point for it. The McFarland-Delano Transfer Station prices source separated clean inerts such as asphalt, brick and concrete at one per-ton rate and mixed construction and demolition material from carpet and drywall to wood and pallets at a higher per-ton rate, and it charges by weight at the gate.Official guidance

Who collects trash in Delano?

The City of Delano Refuse Department runs the Solid Waste Program, with residential, commercial and prison collection, container delivery for new accounts, green waste and recycling monitoring and special pickups, and the city holds a franchise agreement with STRR, South Tulare Richgrove Refuse, at 912 High Street. City Hall is at 1015 11th Avenue and answers at 661-721-3303, while STRR is on 661-725-0265.Official guidance

How does a trip to the Delano transfer station work?

Drive to 11249 Stradley Avenue on a Sunday, Monday, Thursday, Friday or Saturday between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. and stop at the gatehouse for a load check, because the site is closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays and on five county holidays. Take recyclables to the diversion area and the rest to the transfer face, keep the load covered to avoid the untarped load charge, and pay by cash, cheque, card or a prepaid gate fee account.Official guidance

Where do Delano households take paint, batteries and motor oil?

Motor oil and latex paint can be recycled through the county's programmes, while batteries and other household chemicals go to one of the permanent Kern County Special Waste Facilities in Bakersfield, Mojave or Ridgecrest, or to a one-day household hazardous waste collection event. One of those events is held at the McFarland-Delano Transfer Station, with the 2026 date listed as September 25 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., and business waste is not accepted.Official guidance

Is construction debris charged differently from household junk?

Yes. The transfer station does not charge residents for ordinary household trash, but it prices construction and demolition material by weight, with source separated clean inerts such as asphalt, brick and concrete at a lower per-ton rate than mixed material such as carpet, drywall, fencing, wood and pallets. Tires are priced per tire by size, and out-of-county waste is refused.Official guidance
