Match the screen

Flat screen or tube? Start with the shape.

The TV’s type and size determine which item to choose. A new model and an old model can use the same option if their shape and screen size match.

Flat-screen TVs

Measure the screen diagonally, corner to corner, without the frame. Choose under 42 inches or 42 inches and larger. A TV measuring exactly 42 inches belongs to the larger option.

Tube TVs

An older tube or CRT television has curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Choose Tube TV even if its screen is small. A rear-projection TV is different; send a photo before booking so we can check the fit.

TV stands and other electronics

The TV price covers the television. Add a media console, computer monitor or other item separately if it is going too. Choose only what you want removed and review the combined price.

Special rules apply

Small e-waste can be placed in a discardable box or bag next to the cleanup bags, and household batteries go in a clear zipper-lock bag with taped terminals. Additional bulky or e-waste items beyond the allowance are collected for a fee, and the county takes e-waste free by appointment.

City cost & eligibility
Small e-waste placed beside the cleanup bags is part of the free clean-up, while additional bulky or e-waste items are collected for a fee that the hauler does not publish, so confirm the amount with Milpitas Sanitation at 408-988-4500. Santa Clara County's household hazardous waste programme also takes e-waste free with an appointment.
When & how
Put small e-waste in a discardable box or bag next to the cleanup bags on the scheduled day, or book a free county household hazardous waste appointment for larger devices.
Get it ready
Tape the terminals on lithium, six volt and nine volt alkaline batteries and put them in a clear zipper-lock bag beside the clean-up bags, not in the gutter. Keep hazardous waste out of every cart, bin and bag, and clear personal data before handing over a computer or drive.

The handoff matters

Right item.
Right place.

Bags are filled at the curb and nothing heavy goes inside

The bag option works on a weight and size rule. Two company-provided 1.5 cubic yard bags, or up to fourteen of your own 32-gallon bags, are filled at the curb and not more than twenty-four hours before the scheduled collection, everything has to fit inside without protruding, and anything over 75 pounds cannot go in a bag at all. Loose material placed outside the bags is refused, wood has to be shorter than three feet, and treated wood waste, automobile parts, dirt, sod, cement, rock, brick and hazardous waste never belong in a clean-up. Bags and items are at the curb by 6:00 a.m., with vehicles moved clear.

Hazardous waste and useful items have other homes

Hazardous waste does not belong in any cart, bin or bag. Paint, petroleum products, acids and bases, batteries, poisons, pesticides, pool chemicals, solvents, fluorescent lamps, propane and sharps go to Santa Clara County's household hazardous waste programme, which is free with an appointment and also takes e-waste. Medications are no longer accepted at the county's San Jose and San Martin permanent facilities. For reusable items, the Goodwill store at 311 W Calaveras Boulevard takes clothing, housewares, electronics including working and non-working sets, printers, microwaves, vacuums, sellable furniture and small appliances, while it refuses large appliances, large furniture, batteries, liquids and hazardous chemicals.

A household with paint, petroleum products, acids or bases, batteries, pesticides, poisons, pool chemicals, solvents, fluorescent lamps, propane, smoke detectors, sharps or electronic waste.

Cost & conditions
No charge. The county programme takes a free appointment from residents for household hazardous waste at its drop-off locations, with temporary drop-off events also listed.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Milpitas is a curbside city rather than a drop-off city, so self-haul mostly means the free clean-up allowance and the county programme. Single-family households book four free bulky item cleanups a rolling twelve months with at least eight weeks between them through Milpitas Sanitation at 408-988-4500, choosing either bags the hauler delivers, up to fourteen of their own 32-gallon bags, or a pickup of larger items, with everything at the curb by 6 a.m. and filled no more than twenty-four hours ahead. Hazardous material does not go to the curb at all: paint, petroleum products, acids and bases, batteries, poisons, pesticides, pool chemicals, solvents, fluorescent lamps, propane, smoke detectors, sharps and e-waste go to Santa Clara County's household hazardous waste programme, which is free with an appointment and publishes both permanent locations and temporary events, though medications are no longer taken at its San Jose and San Martin facilities. Reusable goods have a third route: the Goodwill store at 311 W Calaveras Boulevard takes clothing, housewares, electronics, printers, microwaves, vacuums, sellable furniture and small appliances, and refuses large appliances, large furniture, batteries, liquids and hazardous chemicals. For renovation material, the hauler requires a special bin for dirt, sod, cement, rock and brick, and rents debris bins for larger projects at rates published by the hauler. How much does TV removal cost in Milpitas?

A flat-screen TV under 42 inches is $79 as the first item and $19 as an additional item. Larger flat screens and tube TVs have their own prices. Loading, transportation and disposal are included. Choose the type that matches your TV and review your total, including any applicable tax, before payment.

Can I get same-day TV pickup in Milpitas?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup. Choose from the dates offered at checkout and have the TV outside according to your confirmation. We text you when your hauler is on the way and provide photos when the pickup is done.

Will Dropcurb remove my TV from the wall or carry it downstairs?

You arrange unmounting, disconnection and indoor carrying before pickup. Dropcurb starts at an accessible outdoor location, where we load your TV and take it away. If you need help removing a mounted TV or moving a heavy tube TV outside, arrange that separately before your pickup day.

Do you pick up old tube or CRT televisions?

Yes. Choose Tube TV for an older television with curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Its price is $249 as the first item and $249 as an additional item. A rear-projection television is a different item; send a photo before booking rather than choosing the tube-TV option.

Does my old TV have to work?

Your TV does not need to turn on for removal. Choose its type and size and arrange to have it outside before pickup. A non-working TV and a TV with exposed broken glass are different situations; send a photo of unusual damage so we can confirm the plan before you book.
