Match the screen

Flat screen or tube? Start with the shape.

The TV’s type and size determine which item to choose. A new model and an old model can use the same option if their shape and screen size match.

Flat-screen TVs

Measure the screen diagonally, corner to corner, without the frame. Choose under 42 inches or 42 inches and larger. A TV measuring exactly 42 inches belongs to the larger option.

Tube TVs

An older tube or CRT television has curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Choose Tube TV even if its screen is small. A rear-projection TV is different; send a photo before booking so we can check the fit.

TV stands and other electronics

The TV price covers the television. Add a media console, computer monitor or other item separately if it is going too. Choose only what you want removed and review the combined price.

  1. Arrange any unmounting first.

Dropcurb does not remove TVs from walls or do indoor carrying. Arrange the help you need before pickup day, including the trip down interior stairs or through an elevator.

  2. Choose a permitted outdoor spot.

Use a stable, accessible location with a clear path for loading. Keep the TV separate from anything staying. Check building rules before placing it in a shared pickup area.

  3. Show us the TV that is going.

Add a location photo and access notes after booking. Follow the readiness instructions in your confirmation. For exposed broken glass or unusual damage, send a photo and check with us before booking.

Televisions

Accepted with preparation

A television travels as electronic waste. The county household hazardous waste program names televisions on its accepted list, and the city refuses computer equipment and hazardous waste in every cart, so the county program is the published route.

City cost & eligibility
No charge. Free for a Riverside County resident at the county household hazardous waste facilities and events, whose accepted list names televisions. Appliances, tires and trash are refused there, and business, out of county and government waste is not accepted.
When & how
Take the set to a county household hazardous waste facility or a scheduled one or two day event on the county's published schedule, and check the county holiday closures before the trip.
Get it ready
Keep the television out of the trash, recycling and organics carts, protect the screen so it does not break in the vehicle, and remove cables, stands and loose batteries. Keep the load under 50 pounds per container and under five gallons of liquid, because larger containers are refused at the facilities.

City of Murrieta Environmental Programs with Waste Management

Use the Riverside County household hazardous waste program

A household with paint, oil, batteries, cleaners, pool chemicals, propane, fluorescent bulbs, medicines, sharps or electronic waste that cannot go in any cart.

Cost & conditions
No charge. Free for a Riverside County resident at the county's permanent household hazardous waste facilities and its one and two day events. Business, government, non-profit, real estate and out of county waste is not accepted.
Arrange it
Check the county schedule for the nearest facility or event, then deliver the material yourself. Waste Management cannot collect household hazardous waste at the curb.

The facilities refuse appliances, asbestos, containers larger than five gallons or heavier than 50 pounds, controlled substances, cylinders over 40 pounds, explosives and ammunition, infectious waste other than sharps, radioactive material, remediation material, tires and trash. The ABOP and PaintCare sites take only antifreeze, batteries, used oil and filters and paint.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Murrieta handles most large items through the hauler and the county rather than a city transfer station. Waste Management collects bulky items inside the two free annual pickups and takes used motor oil from the curb free by appointment, up to two gallons a week with at least 24 hours notice. Household hazardous waste and electronics cannot be collected at all and go to the free Riverside County facilities, while the Murrieta ABOP center at 25315 Jefferson Avenue takes antifreeze, batteries, used oil and latex paint on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. A resident who wants to haul household material instead of subscribing holds a city self-haul permit, must dispose of it at a county operated landfill or an approved recycling or organic waste facility, has to keep monthly disposal receipts, and gives up the free bulky pickup and the curbside used oil service. How much does TV removal cost in Murrieta?

A flat-screen TV under 42 inches is $79 as the first item and $19 as an additional item. Larger flat screens and tube TVs have their own prices. Loading, transportation and disposal are included. Choose the type that matches your TV and review your total, including any applicable tax, before payment.

Can I get same-day TV pickup in Murrieta?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup. Choose from the dates offered at checkout and have the TV outside according to your confirmation. We text you when your hauler is on the way and provide photos when the pickup is done.

Will Dropcurb remove my TV from the wall or carry it downstairs?

You arrange unmounting, disconnection and indoor carrying before pickup. Dropcurb starts at an accessible outdoor location, where we load your TV and take it away. If you need help removing a mounted TV or moving a heavy tube TV outside, arrange that separately before your pickup day.

Yes. Choose Tube TV for an older television with curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Its price is $249 as the first item and $249 as an additional item. A rear-projection television is a different item; send a photo before booking rather than choosing the tube-TV option.

Does my old TV have to work?

Where do televisions go in Murrieta?

A television goes to the free Riverside County household hazardous waste program, which names televisions and computers on its accepted list at both its permanent facilities and its one and two day events.
