Match the screen

Flat screen or tube? Start with the shape.

The TV’s type and size determine which item to choose. A new model and an old model can use the same option if their shape and screen size match.

Flat-screen TVs

Measure the screen diagonally, corner to corner, without the frame. Choose under 42 inches or 42 inches and larger. A TV measuring exactly 42 inches belongs to the larger option.

Tube TVs

An older tube or CRT television has curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Choose Tube TV even if its screen is small. A rear-projection TV is different; send a photo before booking so we can check the fit.

TV stands and other electronics

The TV price covers the television. Add a media console, computer monitor or other item separately if it is going too. Choose only what you want removed and review the combined price.

Televisions and electronics

Accepted with preparation

Televisions and other electronics count as bulky items on a clean-up day, and San Ramon also runs household hazardous waste routes for e-waste, including a free door-to-door collection service.

City cost & eligibility
No charge. Up to two large bulky or electronic items of 60 to 200 pounds each are collected per set out at no additional charge on a scheduled clean-up day; the city's door-to-door household hazardous waste collection and the sanitary district facility in Martinez are free to San Ramon residents.
When & how
Put the screen out on the address's clean-up day by 5:30 a.m., book a door-to-door hazardous waste appointment at 1-800-433-5060, or take it to the Central Contra Costa Sanitary District facility at 4797 Imhoff Place in Martinez, open Monday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Get it ready
Wipe personal data from a computer before it leaves the house, keep electronics out of every cart, and note that household batteries go in a zipper-lock bag on top of the recycling cart with the 9-volt terminals taped, while automotive and liquid lithium ion batteries are not collected that way.

The bulky program runs on scheduled clean-up days, not on request

San Ramon does not book bulky pickups on demand. Every single-family address gets three neighborhood clean-up days a year, listed by address on the hauler's schedule, and each set out takes up to 3 cubic yards of material plus two large bulky items such as appliances, mattresses and furniture, with four car or light truck tires allowed if the rims are separated. Items go within 3 feet of the curb by 5:30 a.m. on the scheduled day and no more than 24 hours in advance, and two different vehicles collect what is put out. Volume beyond the limit and an extra clean-up outside the scheduled days are both charged separately.

Carts out by 5:30 a.m. with room to be emptied

Carts go to the curb by 5:30 a.m. on the weekly collection day, facing the street with the wheels against the curb and two to three feet of space between them, clear of parked cars, fire hydrants and low branches, and they come back out of public view after they are emptied. Overloading a cart is what causes litter and critter problems, so material is not wedged or compacted into it. Household batteries go in a zipper-lock bag on top of the recycling cart with the 9-volt terminals taped, and automotive or liquid lithium ion batteries are not collected that way.

Hazardous waste has its own two routes

Hazardous items never go in an ACI container or a clean-up pile. San Ramon residents can book a free door-to-door collection with Clean Harbors at 1-800-433-5060, which sends a containment kit and takes one type of material per bag, sealed and ready by 6 a.m. on the appointment day, with no container larger than five gallons. The other route is the Central Contra Costa Sanitary District facility at 4797 Imhoff Place in Martinez, free to San Ramon residents with no appointment and open Monday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m., where a visit is limited to 15 gallons or 125 pounds in containers no larger than five gallons. Leftover paint can also go back to many retailers through PaintCare.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Self-hauling in San Ramon splits into three cases. A household with furniture, appliances, a mattress, a television or tires goes through the neighborhood clean-up program instead of a transfer station: every single-family address gets three clean-up days a year, each set out takes up to 3 cubic yards of material, up to four car or light truck tires with the rims separated and two large bulky items between 60 and 200 pounds, and the items go within 3 feet of the curb by 5:30 a.m. on the scheduled day. A household with paint, solvents, automotive fluids, batteries, bulbs, televisions, computers, medications or sharps uses the household hazardous waste routes: a free door-to-door collection booked with Clean Harbors at 1-800-433-5060, or the Central Contra Costa Sanitary District facility at 4797 Imhoff Place in Martinez, which is free to San Ramon residents with no appointment, open Monday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m., and limits a visit to 15 gallons or 125 pounds in containers no larger than five gallons. A project with dirt, rock, construction or demolition debris including pallets is refused by the clean-up program and uses the hauler's debris box service, ordered at 925-380-9480. Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

TV removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in San Ramon.

How much does TV removal cost in San Ramon?

A flat-screen TV under 42 inches is $79 as the first item and $19 as an additional item. Larger flat screens and tube TVs have their own prices. Loading, transportation and disposal are included. Choose the type that matches your TV and review your total, including any applicable tax, before payment.

Can I get same-day TV pickup in San Ramon?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup. Choose from the dates offered at checkout and have the TV outside according to your confirmation. We text you when your hauler is on the way and provide photos when the pickup is done.

Will Dropcurb remove my TV from the wall or carry it downstairs?

You arrange unmounting, disconnection and indoor carrying before pickup. Dropcurb starts at an accessible outdoor location, where we load your TV and take it away. If you need help removing a mounted TV or moving a heavy tube TV outside, arrange that separately before your pickup day.

Do you pick up old tube or CRT televisions?

Yes. Choose Tube TV for an older television with curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Its price is $249 as the first item and $249 as an additional item. A rear-projection television is a different item; send a photo before booking rather than choosing the tube-TV option.

Does my old TV have to work?

Your TV does not need to turn on for removal. Choose its type and size and arrange to have it outside before pickup. A non-working TV and a TV with exposed broken glass are different situations; send a photo of unusual damage so we can confirm the plan before you book.

Where do televisions and computers go in San Ramon?

Three published routes. A television or computer counts as one of the two large bulky items allowed on a neighborhood clean-up day, the city's door-to-door household hazardous waste service collects electronic waste by appointment at 1-800-433-5060, and the Central Contra Costa Sanitary District facility at 4797 Imhoff Place in Martinez takes e-waste free from San Ramon residents with no appointment, open Monday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.Official guidance

Who collects trash and bulky items in San Ramon?

ACI of San Ramon is the franchised hauler for garbage, recyclables and organics and has run the city service since October 1, 2019. Cart service is billed quarterly by cart size, and bulky items are collected on the three neighborhood clean-up days each single-family address is scheduled for rather than by appointment. The hauler answers at 925-380-9480.Official guidance

How do I find my San Ramon clean-up day?

San Ramon schedules three neighborhood clean-up days a year by address rather than taking bulky appointments. The dates are listed by address on the hauler's clean-up schedule, or a resident can call 925-380-9480. Items go within 3 feet of the curb by 5:30 a.m. on the scheduled day and no more than 24 hours in advance, with up to 3 cubic yards of material and two large bulky items.Official guidance

Hazardous items never go in a cart or a clean-up pile. Two free routes exist for residents: a door-to-door collection booked with Clean Harbors at 1-800-433-5060, which sends a containment kit and takes one sealed bag from the property with no container larger than five gallons, and the Central Contra Costa Sanitary District facility at 4797 Imhoff Place in Martinez, which needs no appointment and is open Monday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Paint, solvents, automotive fluids, batteries, bulbs, e-waste and sharps are among the accepted materials, a visit is limited to 15 gallons or 125 pounds, and leftover paint can also go back to retailers through PaintCare.Official guidance
