Bulk waste is requested separately for the regular trash day, and the city provides two free bulky waste collections per residence each calendar year before a fee applies to additional pickups. Furniture, mattresses and appliances are bulky items when they do not fit the trash barrel, while construction and demolition debris is refused and directed to Albreada. Send the bulk waste request form at least one day before the scheduled trash day, keeping in mind applications are not processed on weekends and are processed Monday to Thursday by 3:30 p.m. and Friday by noon, then set the items curbside by 6 a.m. on the regular trash day.

Keep each item inside the bulky definition and follow the item rules: cut, roll and tie carpet into four-foot sections under 50 pounds, remove refrigerator and freezer doors and empty the unit, take the shelves and trays out into the trash barrel, and remove and empty the base and cut the pole on a basketball system. Put the material curbside on the same day as the garbage pickup during the spring window of April 13 to April 24, 2026 or the fall window of November 2 to November 28, 2026, and do not call to schedule or submit a bulk request for it. Christmas trees are collected January 18 to January 22, 2027.
Get it ready
Bag leaves and yard waste in biodegradable paper bags with no tape, or tie them into bundles under 50 pounds, keep individual branches under four feet long and three inches in diameter, and keep stones, dirt and sharp objects out. Raked piles at the curb are not collected, and yard waste must not be mixed or piled with the garbage.
Construction and demolition debris is refused by the bulk program, which points residents to Albreada for disposal information and cost.

Get it ready
Separate any household item that qualifies as bulky waste from the project debris, because only the bulky items can go on a permit collection, and keep liquid paints and other hazardous material out of the load entirely.
