Match the screen

Flat screen or tube? Start with the shape.

The TV’s type and size determine which item to choose. A new model and an old model can use the same option if their shape and screen size match.

Flat-screen TVs

Measure the screen diagonally, corner to corner, without the frame. Choose under 42 inches or 42 inches and larger. A TV measuring exactly 42 inches belongs to the larger option.

Tube TVs

An older tube or CRT television has curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Choose Tube TV even if its screen is small. A rear-projection TV is different; send a photo before booking so we can check the fit.

TV stands and other electronics

The TV price covers the television. Add a media console, computer monitor or other item separately if it is going too. Choose only what you want removed and review the combined price.

  1. Arrange any unmounting first.

Dropcurb does not remove TVs from walls or do indoor carrying. Arrange the help you need before pickup day, including the trip down interior stairs or through an elevator.

  2. Choose a permitted outdoor spot.

Use a stable, accessible location with a clear path for loading. Keep the TV separate from anything staying. Check building rules before placing it in a shared pickup area.

  3. Show us the TV that is going.

Add a location photo and access notes after booking. Follow the readiness instructions in your confirmation. For exposed broken glass or unusual damage, send a photo and check with us before booking.

Televisions

Accepted with preparation

A television is named on the Recycling Center's free electronic waste list, and electronics are refused in the curbside bulky program, so the center is the town route for a screen.

City cost & eligibility
No charge. Electronic recycling, including televisions, is available to residents free of charge with an annual permit at the Yard Waste and Recycling Center. The permit itself is required to enter and is sold at published rates.
When & how
Take the set to 25 Brixton Street during the center's open hours, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Saturday from 7 a.m. to noon, and arrive before the last vehicle times.
Get it ready
Keep the television out of the barrels and off a curbside bulky pile, protect the screen for transport, and remove cables and stands. Do not bring a dehumidifier or an air conditioner with it, because those refrigerant items are refused at the center.

Use the Yard Waste and Recycling Center

A West Hartford resident with a mattress, electronics, paint, textiles, scrap metal or a small load of clean fill and concrete rubble.

Cost & conditions
From $20 for annual Recycling Center permit for a passenger vehicle, SUV, crossover or minivan at $20.00 from the published permit fee table, with $30.00 for the same vehicle with a trailer, $50.00 for a pickup truck or full size van, $70.00 for a pickup truck or van with a trailer, and $25.00 for a one day permit. Arrange it
Buy an annual or day permit online or at the Public Works window, Tuesday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., then drive to 25 Brixton Street during the center's open hours. Residents load and unload their own vehicles.

Yard waste and clean wood from commercial operations, contractors or for-hire services are not accepted, textiles have to be bagged, mattresses and box springs must not be wet, clean fill and concrete rubble are limited to half a cubic yard, and the center refuses smoke detectors, hazardous materials and liquids, humidifiers, dehumidifiers and air conditioners.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

West Hartford residents self haul to the Yard Waste and Recycling Center at 25 Brixton Street with a permit that costs $20.00 a year for a passenger vehicle, SUV, crossover or minivan, $30.00 with a trailer, $50.00 for a pickup truck or full size van, $70.00 with a trailer, or $25.00 for a one day pass, and a permit holder can drop mattresses and box springs, electronics, paint, textiles, scrap metal, books, brush, clean fill and concrete rubble free of additional charge. Household hazardous waste does not go there: the town uses the MDC regional collection days instead, including two West Hartford dates at the Public Works Garage on 17 Brixton Street during 2026. Curbside bulky, metal and appliance collection runs through All American Waste with a permit bought online or by phone and a collection scheduled with the hauler. A few things
worth knowing.

TV removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in West Hartford.

How much does TV removal cost in West Hartford?

A flat-screen TV under 42 inches is $79 as the first item and $19 as an additional item. Larger flat screens and tube TVs have their own prices. Loading, transportation and disposal are included. Choose the type that matches your TV and review your total, including any applicable tax, before payment.

Can I get same-day TV pickup in West Hartford?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup. Choose from the dates offered at checkout and have the TV outside according to your confirmation. We text you when your hauler is on the way and provide photos when the pickup is done.

Will Dropcurb remove my TV from the wall or carry it downstairs?

You arrange unmounting, disconnection and indoor carrying before pickup. Dropcurb starts at an accessible outdoor location, where we load your TV and take it away. If you need help removing a mounted TV or moving a heavy tube TV outside, arrange that separately before your pickup day.

Do you pick up old tube or CRT televisions?

Yes. Choose Tube TV for an older television with curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Its price is $249 as the first item and $249 as an additional item. A rear-projection television is a different item; send a photo before booking rather than choosing the tube-TV option.

Does my old TV have to work?

Your TV does not need to turn on for removal. Choose its type and size and arrange to have it outside before pickup. A non-working TV and a TV with exposed broken glass are different situations; send a photo of unusual damage so we can confirm the plan before you book.
