The county operates on a fee structure charged by weight that residents pay when they tip a load, so confirm the current rate for your material before you drive out.
Arrange it
Load the vehicle, keep each material separated, and deliver it during posted hours. The West Volusia Transfer Station is on East New York Avenue in DeLand and the Tomoka Landfill is on Tomoka Farms Road in Port Orange.
Separated loads only, no loose household waste mixed in, and the household hazardous waste facility on site is published for gasoline, paints, thinners, solvents and pool chemicals.
DeLand does not operate its own drop-off yard, but the county does. Residents drive separated loads of yard waste, land clearing debris, construction material, appliances and tires to the West Volusia Transfer Station on East New York Avenue or to the Tomoka Landfill in Port Orange, and both sites charge by weight when the load is tipped. Motor oil is not allowed in the landfill and goes to the household hazardous waste facility on site, which also takes gasoline, paint, thinner, solvent and pool chemicals from residents without a charge.
