Match the screen

Flat screen or tube? Start with the shape.

The TV’s type and size determine which item to choose. A new model and an old model can use the same option if their shape and screen size match.

Flat-screen TVs

Measure the screen diagonally, corner to corner, without the frame. Choose under 42 inches or 42 inches and larger. A TV measuring exactly 42 inches belongs to the larger option.

Tube TVs

An older tube or CRT television has curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Choose Tube TV even if its screen is small. A rear-projection TV is different; send a photo before booking so we can check the fit.

TV stands and other electronics

The TV price covers the television. Add a media console, computer monitor or other item separately if it is going too. Choose only what you want removed and review the combined price.

Televisions, computers and electronics

Accepted with preparation

Flat screen televisions can go out with the bulk pile, tube televisions cannot, and everything else with a circuit board goes to an Orange County collection site or event.

City cost & eligibility
No charge. A flat screen television is included in the curbside bulk limit at no separate city charge, and Orange County Utilities offers household hazardous waste and electronics disposal free of charge at its community collection events and county drop off locations.
When & how
Put a flat screen television within three feet of the curb with the bulk pile, out the night before or by 6 a.m., or take electronics to a county drop off or collection event, and call the county hotline at 407-836-6601 for the nearest option.
Get it ready
Do not put electronics in the recycling cart, because anything with a circuit board counts as electronic waste, and do not put a tube television out for pickup. Remove personal data before a computer leaves your hands, and note that a rear projection television cannot be recycled and is instead handled as a large curbside item.

The handoff matters

Right item.
Right place.

Prepare white goods and keep the categories apart

Freon and any door locks come off a refrigeration unit before it is set out, yard waste is cut into four foot lengths and limited to ten bags of 50 pounds or less or four cubic yards, and nothing hazardous, electronic or construction related goes into the trash or recycling carts. A tube television must not be put out with the bulk pile, although a flat screen may be.

For your Dropcurb pickup

City of Ocoee Solid Waste Operation, with Orange County Utilities running the household hazardous waste drop offs and the landfill

Put bulk items and white goods out with the city collection

A city household with furniture, a mattress, a white good, a flat screen television or up to four cubic yards of household bulk material to clear.

Cost & conditions
No charge. Bulk items are limited to four cubic yards at one time with no per item city charge published, and white goods go out as their own category with no container needed. Limited construction debris is the exception and is collected only for a fee that the city quotes.
Arrange it
Set the pile within three feet of the curb, out the night before or by 6 a.m. on the service day, and remove the Freon and any door locks from a refrigeration unit before it goes out.

Four cubic yards is the maximum at one time, a tube television must not be put out, and the city publishes size limits rather than a named item list, so an unusual or oversized piece should be confirmed with Public Works at 407-905-3170. Hazardous products and electronics with a circuit board belong with Orange County instead.

City of Ocoee Solid Waste Operation, with Orange County Utilities running the household hazardous waste drop offs and the landfill

Use the Orange County hazardous waste and electronics drop offs

A household with paint products, pesticides, propane tanks, cooking oil, fluorescent bulbs, car fluids, rechargeable batteries, cleaning fluids, pool chemicals or electronics to dispose of.

Cost & conditions
No charge. Orange County Utilities offers household hazardous waste and electronics disposal free of charge at its community collection events and county drop off locations, and the city of Ocoee directs residents to that program for anything hazardous.
Arrange it
Use a county collection event or drop off location, and call the Orange County Utilities solid waste hotline at 407-836-6601 or email Solid.Waste@ocfl.net for the nearest option and its hours.

Electronics must not go in the blue lid recycling cart and a rear projection television cannot be recycled, although it can be handled as a large curbside item. Medications are not flushed but taken to a county prescription drop off location, and a freon containing appliance that is not prepared for the curb goes to the Orange County Landfill for a minimum charge of 9.00.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Ocoee collects the household streams at the curb. Trash and recycling each get one 95 gallon cart within three feet of the curb, bulk items are limited to four cubic yards at one time which the city compares to a small pickup bed, yard waste is capped at four cubic yards or ten lawn bags of 50 pounds or less with material cut into four foot lengths and no stumps or branches over six inches in diameter, and white goods go out as their own category with the Freon and any door locks removed from refrigeration units. Everything goes out the night before or by 6 a.m. Flat screen televisions can ride with the bulk pile while tube televisions cannot, and limited construction debris is collected at the curb only for a fee that Public Works quotes at 407-905-3170. Anything hazardous, electronic or beyond the bulk limit goes to Orange County: household hazardous waste and electronics drop off is free at county collection sites and events and can be arranged through the solid waste hotline at 407-836-6601, prescription medications go to a county drop off location, sharps go to Ocoee Fire Station 25 on South Bluford Avenue on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with a driver's license, and a larger load of construction debris or furniture goes to the Orange County Landfill at 5901 Young Pine Road, open to non account customers Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., where construction and demolition debris costs 41.10 per ton with a 9.00 minimum and a freon containing appliance is charged that same minimum. Will Dropcurb remove my TV from the wall or carry it downstairs?

You arrange unmounting, disconnection and indoor carrying before pickup. Dropcurb starts at an accessible outdoor location, where we load your TV and take it away. If you need help removing a mounted TV or moving a heavy tube TV outside, arrange that separately before your pickup day.
