General bulky household items

Special rules apply

The Ellenwood mailing label does not select a provider. Eligible DeKalb accounts request county bulky collection, unincorporated Clayton residents request an inspection and estimate, and Rockdale residents use the tagged center.

City cost & eligibility
Charges depend on the county route. DeKalb states that bulky items require a fee but does not publish a universal per-item amount; Clayton starts inspected pickup at 20 dollars; Rockdale requires a Full Use Tag with month and eligibility dependent pricing.
When & how
Confirm the county for the address first. DeKalb asks for curb placement before the request and publishes collection within 10 business days, Clayton normally inspects within 24 hours after the call, and Rockdale is self-haul during center hours. DeKalb suspended operations October 10, 2026 and closed Seminole Road Landfill and transfer stations. Normal hours were planned for Monday, October 12 only weather permitting. Recheck the official notice immediately; it does not establish service after that date. Clayton normally inspects within 24 hours and publishes pickup within one to three working days after payment.
Get it ready
Separate the load by item type, keep hazardous material out, and use only the serving county route. An Ellenwood address in Henry County needs direct provider confirmation because no exact official route was established in this review.

Special rules apply

DeKalb names mattresses and box springs for bulky collection, Rockdale accepts one mattress set per household per week, and Clayton Landfill accepts up to five mattresses per visit.

City cost & eligibility
DeKalb requires a fee but publishes no universal mattress amount. Rockdale requires its Full Use Tag. Clayton charges 10 dollars per mattress, maximum five per visit, in addition to the 40-dollar minimum or 75-dollar-per-ton dumping fee.
When & how

Appliances and refrigerant units

Special rules apply

DeKalb and Clayton name appliances for county pickup. Rockdale accepts appliances without a Freon compressor but excludes refrigerators, freezers and air conditioners from the reviewed center route.

City cost & eligibility
The serving county determines the charge. DeKalb publishes fee-required bulky collection without a universal appliance amount, Clayton starts inspected pickup at 20 dollars, and Rockdale access requires its current Full Use Tag.
When & how
Arrange with DeKalb after curb placement, call Clayton for inspection, or take an eligible non-refrigerant appliance to Rockdale with residency proof and a current tag.

Electronics

Special rules apply

Rockdale names electronics at its tagged resident center. DeKalb publishes a separate electronics recycling program. The reviewed Clayton pages do not establish a general electronics route.

City cost & eligibility
Confirm the exact device and current terms with DeKalb Solid Waste Management or the Rockdale center. No supported general electronics charge was found in the reviewed Clayton pages.
When & how
Call the serving county before travel. Rockdale electronics use the resident center; a DeKalb device should follow the current electronics program rather than being assumed eligible for a bulky pile.
Get it ready
Remove personal data from computers and phones, keep devices separate from general trash, and confirm televisions, CRT units, batteries and refrigerant appliances individually because exclusions vary.

Leaves, grass and small trimmings

Special rules apply

Eligible DeKalb accounts receive weekly yard-trimmings collection, Clayton offers inspected pickup in unincorporated areas, and Rockdale residents self-haul limited yard loads with a current tag.

City cost & eligibility
Regular DeKalb service terms depend on the account, Clayton inspected pickup starts at 20 dollars, and Rockdale requires a Full Use Tag with current month and eligibility dependent pricing.
When & how
DeKalb runs yard trimmings weekly on the garbage day. Clayton normally inspects after the resident calls. Rockdale accepts up to two qualifying household yard loads per week during center hours.

Leaves and bagged trimmings

Special rules apply

DeKalb uses approved containers or biodegradable paper bags, Clayton names bags of leaves for inspected pickup, and Rockdale requires all bagged debris to be emptied at the tree area.

City cost & eligibility
The charge follows the county route and account. Confirm DeKalb account terms, Clayton’s inspected estimate, or Rockdale’s current Full Use Tag before preparing the load.
When & how
Use DeKalb’s weekly route where eligible, call Clayton after placement for inspection, or self-haul to Rockdale and empty every bag at the designated area.

Branches, limbs and logs

Special rules apply

Branch limits differ sharply: DeKalb sends tree parts over three inches to special collection, Clayton limits curbside limbs by diameter and length, and Rockdale allows manageable logs but no stumps.

City cost & eligibility
DeKalb oversized tree parts use a separately assessed special collection, Clayton’s inspected estimate starts at 20 dollars, and Rockdale access requires its current Full Use Tag.
When & how
Measure the branches before choosing a route. DeKalb special collection follows assessment and payment; Clayton inspects the curb pile; Rockdale tree debris must arrive before the tree area closes.

Large or mixed yard piles

Special rules apply

DeKalb assesses large yard volumes, oversized tree parts and mixed piles as special collections. Clayton estimates each curb pile. Rockdale limits resident yard loads and rejects stumps and mixed demolition material.

City cost & eligibility
From $115 for minimum for a DeKalb general special collection, while oversized tree parts and commingled piles start at 230 dollars and staff assess the final amount. Eligible DeKalb residential accounts; Clayton and Rockdale use their own separate terms and this amount does not apply to those counties.
When & how
For DeKalb, place the material, submit the request, wait for assessment and pay before collection. Clayton inspects after the resident calls. Split a Rockdale load to remain within the weekly household limit.

Landscaper and contractor debris

Special rules apply

No reviewed county route is approved for contractor-generated yard debris. DeKalb’s official pages conflict, Clayton publishes no reviewed rule, and Rockdale excludes commercial and landscaping or tree-service loads.

City cost & eligibility
Confirm material acceptance and price with the county or a properly authorized commercial facility. The reviewed evidence does not establish a county contractor-debris charge.
When & how
Do not use a regular county yard route. DeKalb’s fee list and rejection language conflict, Clayton publishes no reviewed contractor rule, and Rockdale excludes these loads. Confirm a lawful commercial route before moving material.
Get it ready
Tell the facility who generated the debris and describe the material, volume, stump content and contamination before travel. Keep dirt, concrete and hazardous material separate.
