Match the screen

Flat screen or tube? Start with the shape.

The TV’s type and size determine which item to choose. A new model and an old model can use the same option if their shape and screen size match.

Flat-screen TVs

Measure the screen diagonally, corner to corner, without the frame. Choose under 42 inches or 42 inches and larger. A TV measuring exactly 42 inches belongs to the larger option.

Tube TVs

An older tube or CRT television has curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Choose Tube TV even if its screen is small. A rear-projection TV is different; send a photo before booking so we can check the fit.

TV stands and other electronics

The TV price covers the television. Add a media console, computer monitor or other item separately if it is going too. Choose only what you want removed and review the combined price.

Televisions, computers and small electronics

Accepted with preparation

Electronic waste is inside the city's white goods definition, so computers, monitors, televisions and stereo equipment are collected on the same scheduled special pickup.

City cost & eligibility
Electronic waste is treated as a white good, so it carries the same additional per-occurrence fee that appears on the next water bill and is based on what is collected, and no amount is published. Book the pickup and confirm the fee with the Solid Waste Division at 770-532-0493.
When & how
Call 770-532-0493 in advance, because the white goods pickup runs only when equipment and personnel are available, and put the device out on the scheduled day rather than before the arrangement is made.
Get it ready
Keep televisions, monitors and computers out of the curbside pile and out of the recycling container, and never set them out before the pickup is booked, because that is a violation of city regulations. Do not put the device in a load bound for the compactor sites, which take only recyclables, textiles, motor oil and bagged garbage.

The city keeps garbage, curbside and white goods apart

Gainesville collects garbage once a week at the curb and picks up recycling the same day, and both streams use City of Gainesville issued receptacles requested on 770-532-0493. Household garbage and curbside material are never mixed, because garbage goes to a solid waste landfill while curbside material goes to a construction and demolition landfill and the two travel on different trucks. White goods are a third stream: regulated appliances and electronic waste that are scheduled in advance on the same number and only collected when equipment and personnel are available.

Georgia rules decide what the city can take

The city states that it follows Georgia Environmental Protection Division rules and cannot handle biomedical waste, blocks, bricks, car parts, construction and demolition debris, dirt, explosives, flammables, hazardous materials, liquids, rocks, stumps, tires or wet paint. Setting a white good or electronic item at the curb before the pickup is arranged is itself a violation of city regulations. Paint is the one refused material with a published route, through the Hall County Landfill paint recycling programme.

Book the white goods and special pickup

A Gainesville household with an appliance or electronic waste such as a refrigerator, air conditioner, washer, drier, television, monitor or computer.

Cost & conditions
The city states that white goods and special pickups carry an additional per-occurrence fee that appears on the next water bill and is based on what is picked up, but it publishes no amount. Call 770-532-0493 to book the pickup and confirm the fee.
Arrange it
Schedule in advance on 770-532-0493, then put the item out on the day the division gives you. The pickup only runs when equipment and personnel are available.

Advance scheduling is required and setting the items curbside before the arrangement is made is a violation of city regulations. The white goods list is closed and covers appliances and electronic waste rather than furniture, mattresses or construction material.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Gainesville runs its own solid waste division, collecting garbage once a week at the curb with recycling the same day and everything in city-issued receptacles requested on 770-532-0493 from the division at 263 Alta Vista Road Suite B. The rules split three ways. Household garbage is bagged waste from normal living and cannot be mixed with curbside material, because the two streams go to different landfills on different trucks. Curbside is the occasional item too large for the garbage bag, limited to one cubic yard a week and four cubic yards a month without additional fees, with loose material bagged and clean-outs of attics, basements, rental turnovers, estates, evictions and storage buildings left to the resident. White goods are the third stream: appliances and electronic waste such as computers, monitors, televisions and stereo equipment, booked in advance on 770-532-0493 with a per-occurrence fee added to the next water bill and based on what is collected, and never set out before the arrangement is made. The city refuses biomedical waste, blocks, bricks, car parts, construction and demolition debris, dirt, explosives, flammables, hazardous materials, liquids, rocks, stumps, tires and wet paint. The Hall County Landfill at 1700 Oakbrook Drive in Gainesville takes Hall County generated loads with a minimum 20 dollar tipping fee covering the first 665 pounds and 60 dollars a ton above that, charges 10 dollars per mattress or box spring on top of the weight, 10 dollars for a single refrigerant unit and 12 dollars each for several, prices tires on a chart with nothing over 24.5 inches accepted, recycles latex, oil and solvent based paints by the container, and refuses yard debris, large construction debris such as concrete and asphalt, chemical and hazardous waste, liquids, boats and mobile homes. The city and county pages are retained as archived copies from 14 August 2026 because the live city site is behind a bot challenge, so confirm current details on 770-532-0493 or 770-535-8284. Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

TV removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Gainesville.

How much does TV removal cost in Gainesville?

A flat-screen TV under 42 inches is $79 as the first item and $19 as an additional item. Larger flat screens and tube TVs have their own prices. Loading, transportation and disposal are included. Choose the type that matches your TV and review your total, including any applicable tax, before payment.

Can I get same-day TV pickup in Gainesville?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup. Choose from the dates offered at checkout and have the TV outside according to your confirmation. We text you when your hauler is on the way and provide photos when the pickup is done.

Will Dropcurb remove my TV from the wall or carry it downstairs?

You arrange unmounting, disconnection and indoor carrying before pickup. Dropcurb starts at an accessible outdoor location, where we load your TV and take it away. If you need help removing a mounted TV or moving a heavy tube TV outside, arrange that separately before your pickup day.

Do you pick up old tube or CRT televisions?

Yes. Choose Tube TV for an older television with curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Its price is $249 as the first item and $249 as an additional item. A rear-projection television is a different item; send a photo before booking rather than choosing the tube-TV option.

Does my old TV have to work?

Your TV does not need to turn on for removal. Choose its type and size and arrange to have it outside before pickup. A non-working TV and a TV with exposed broken glass are different situations; send a photo of unusual damage so we can confirm the plan before you book.

Where do Gainesville televisions and computers go?

On the city's scheduled white goods pickup. The white goods list names electronic waste such as computers, monitors, televisions and stereo equipment alongside the appliances, and the pickup has to be arranged in advance on 770-532-0493 because it is regulated waste handled separately from the normal stream. The per-occurrence fee is added to the next water bill and is based on what is collected, and setting the items out before the pickup is arranged breaks city regulations.Official guidance

What are white goods and how are they collected?

White goods are appliances and electronic waste: air conditioners, clothes dryers, dishwashers, computers, monitors, televisions, stereo equipment, microwaves, refrigerators, stoves, trash compactors, washing machines and water heaters. They have to be scheduled in advance on 770-532-0493, an additional per-occurrence fee appears on the next water bill based on what is picked up, and the pickup runs only when equipment and personnel are available. Putting the items out before the arrangement is made violates city regulations.Official guidance
