Bulk trash and yard trimmings are each collected once a week on the household garbage day. The two piles stay separate from each other and from scrap metal, because the city collects those streams separately and will not take yard waste that has been mixed together.
Yard waste goes on the shoulder, never in the ditch
Put yard waste at the curb near the street, on the shoulder between the ditch and the street, or on the back side of the ditch. Nothing may go on the street, in a drainage ditch or on a sidewalk, because the city treats that as an ordinance violation and issues a citation to the resident and to a landscaping contractor.
Liquid paint, oil, dirt, auto parts and other chemicals are prohibited from the curbside pile, and the city also refuses hazardous waste of any kind including batteries and paint, commercial contractor waste, large trees and limbs over five feet or six inches, and any yard waste that has been mixed together. The transfer station adds its own four refusals: no tires, no construction and demolition debris, no limbs, grass or vegetation, and no liquid waste.
