Where can you donate a used refrigerator?

These are local requirements, not a universal donation standard. Twin Cities ReStore excludes refrigerators older than 10 years, commercial units and Sub Zero models, while Habitat Central Arizona uses an 8-year limit and requires the appliance to be clean and fully working. Greater Albuquerque lists refrigerators among accepted reusable appliances and reviews large-item pickup requests.

Ask the receiver to confirm eligibility, pickup arrangements and access requirements for your address. Do not assume pickup is free or available outside that organization’s service area.

Have the refrigerator’s date plate, working status and photos ready. Keep the refrigerant circuit intact, and describe any condition issue clearly so the receiver can decide whether it qualifies. If the refrigerator does not meet the receiver’s rules or no suitable donation route is available, arrange another lawful disposal option rather than leaving it at the curb without a confirmed pickup.
