Does anyone buy used printers?

Yes, but the buyer depends on the printer. Equipment Brokers Unlimited buys selected commercial copiers and printers after reviewing the make, model, meter reading and condition; it does not buy consumer home inkjet printers. A used home printer generally needs a private buyer, so a buyback is not guaranteed. Test whether it prints, record the model and meter reading, note the consumables included, and remove stored data using the manufacturer’s guide before offering it.

Prepare a commercial printer for review

For a commercial copier or printer, gather the make and model, meter reading, condition, print-test result and included consumables. EBU reviews that information before making an offer, and inspection confirms the description. Payment can be by check or ACH rather than universal cash.

If a home printer does not sell

Best Buy has residential printer recycling for accepted printers under its current item-specific rules. Confirm the current terms with the store before you transport the printer, because acceptance depends on the item and program rules.

If the printer still works, compare printer donation requirements before recycling it.

When Dropcurb fits

If selling fails or moving the printer is more useful than continuing to find a buyer, Dropcurb can handle an accepted printer or office copier that you place outdoors in an accessible location. For accepted leftovers already outside, Dropcurb handles loading, transport and disposal. Standard pickup does not include indoor carry-out, so if you cannot move the printer outside yourself, choose a service that includes that labor. You can book before moving it outside, but it must be ready and accessible before pickup.
