Match the screen

Flat screen or tube? Start with the shape.

The TV’s type and size determine which item to choose. A new model and an old model can use the same option if their shape and screen size match.

Flat-screen TVs

Measure the screen diagonally, corner to corner, without the frame. Choose under 42 inches or 42 inches and larger. A TV measuring exactly 42 inches belongs to the larger option.

Tube TVs

An older tube or CRT television has curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Choose Tube TV even if its screen is small. A rear-projection TV is different; send a photo before booking so we can check the fit.

TV stands and other electronics

The TV price covers the television. Add a media console, computer monitor or other item separately if it is going too. Choose only what you want removed and review the combined price.

  1. Arrange any unmounting first.

Dropcurb does not remove TVs from walls or do indoor carrying. Arrange the help you need before pickup day, including the trip down interior stairs or through an elevator.

  2. Choose a permitted outdoor spot.

Use a stable, accessible location with a clear path for loading. Keep the TV separate from anything staying. Check building rules before placing it in a shared pickup area.

  3. Show us the TV that is going.

Add a location photo and access notes after booking. Follow the readiness instructions in your confirmation. For exposed broken glass or unusual damage, send a photo and check with us before booking.

Appliances, electronics and paint run on their own routes

Appliances are an appointment with a fee paid on the pickup day, televisions, computers and other electronics go to the Wednesday drop-off at Public Works because Illinois bans them from landfill, and paint, solvents and chemicals belong at the appointment-only household hazardous waste collection rather than the cart or the bulk pile.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Mount Prospect runs the routes for this address through Republic Services, so most bulky items leave with the weekly truck: furniture, mattresses and box springs and the rest of the approved list go out beside the carts with no additional charge and no limit on the number of items. Appliances are an appointment with a fee paid on the pickup day, televisions, computers and other electronics go to the Wednesday drop-off at the Public Works Facility, and paint, solvents and chemicals belong at the appointment-only household hazardous waste collection. Residents who would rather self-haul can take refuse and debris to the SWANCC transfer station at 3 Providence Way in Des Plaines, which charges by weight with a minimum for small loads, takes major credit cards only, and refuses landscape waste, concrete and household hazardous waste. Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

TV removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Mount Prospect.

How much does TV removal cost in Mount Prospect?

A flat-screen TV under 42 inches is $79 as the first item and $19 as an additional item. Larger flat screens and tube TVs have their own prices. Loading, transportation and disposal are included. Choose the type that matches your TV and review your total, including any applicable tax, before payment.

Can I get same-day TV pickup in Mount Prospect?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup. Choose from the dates offered at checkout and have the TV outside according to your confirmation. We text you when your hauler is on the way and provide photos when the pickup is done.

Will Dropcurb remove my TV from the wall or carry it downstairs?

You arrange unmounting, disconnection and indoor carrying before pickup. Dropcurb starts at an accessible outdoor location, where we load your TV and take it away. If you need help removing a mounted TV or moving a heavy tube TV outside, arrange that separately before your pickup day.

Do you pick up old tube or CRT televisions?

Yes. Choose Tube TV for an older television with curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Its price is $249 as the first item and $249 as an additional item. A rear-projection television is a different item; send a photo before booking rather than choosing the tube-TV option.

Does my old TV have to work?

Your TV does not need to turn on for removal. Choose its type and size and arrange to have it outside before pickup. A non-working TV and a TV with exposed broken glass are different situations; send a photo of unusual damage so we can confirm the plan before you book.

Where can I take a television in Mount Prospect?

Televisions of all types are accepted at the electronics drop-off at the Public Works Facility, 1700 W. Central Rd., on Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. from April through October, with a limit of 7 items each week. Illinois bans televisions and computers from landfills, so they cannot go in the refuse cart.Official guidance
