City cost & eligibility
From $3.62 per sticker at the current contract year price, with a bulk item such as a mattress requiring five stickers and a maximum weight of 50 pounds. Wheaton residential accounts served by Lakeshore Recycling Systems, where stickers are required for yard waste, leaves, organics, excess garbage, electronics and bulk items.
When & how
Attach the required stickers and put the mattress at the curb on your garbage day between 7 p.m. the night before collection and 6 a.m. on the collection day.
Get it ready
Keep the piece within the 50 pound bulk limit, keep it out of the recycling cart, and buy the stickers in advance at City Hall or one of the listed stores because the crew collects only what is stickered.

Pickup days are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday or Friday and the same day covers garbage, recycling and yard waste, with material at the curb between 7 p.m. the night before collection and 6 a.m. on the collection day and containers back in by 7 p.m. that day. Residents must use the LRS carts provided for the home, each cart carries a tag the truck scans, the account is billed each time a cart is set out, and the carts stay with the house when a resident moves.
Each bag, container, stack and bulk item needs the listed number of stickers
LRS stickers cover yard waste, leaves, organics, garbage that will not fit in the cart, electronics and bulk items. One sticker covers an excess garbage bag or a biodegradable yard waste bag or container that stays inside the size and weight limits, one covers a stack of brush or tree trimmings, a bulk item such as carpeting, a mattress or a toilet needs five stickers, a white good such as a refrigerator or water heater needs ten, and a curbside television or monitor needs ten. Yard waste, leaves, food scraps and organics are collected from the first full week of April through the second full week of December, and live Christmas trees are picked up free with no sticker during the two weeks after Christmas.

Arrange it
Use the LRS carts provided for the home, put material at the curb between 7 p.m. the night before and 6 a.m. on the pickup day, call LRS at 773-685-8811 for cart, service or billing questions, and attach the required stickers to anything that does not fit in the cart.
Only the LRS carts are allowed and they stay with the house when you move, household hazardous waste must not go in the garbage, and paint, pesticides, solvents, used oil and automotive fluids are referred to the DuPage County program.
