Match the screen

Flat screen or tube? Start with the shape.

The TV’s type and size determine which item to choose. A new model and an old model can use the same option if their shape and screen size match.

Flat-screen TVs

Measure the screen diagonally, corner to corner, without the frame. Choose under 42 inches or 42 inches and larger. A TV measuring exactly 42 inches belongs to the larger option.

Tube TVs

An older tube or CRT television has curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Choose Tube TV even if its screen is small. A rear-projection TV is different; send a photo before booking so we can check the fit.

TV stands and other electronics

The TV price covers the television. Add a media console, computer monitor or other item separately if it is going too. Choose only what you want removed and review the combined price.

  1. Arrange any unmounting first.

Dropcurb does not remove TVs from walls or do indoor carrying. Arrange the help you need before pickup day, including the trip down interior stairs or through an elevator.

  2. Choose a permitted outdoor spot.

Use a stable, accessible location with a clear path for loading. Keep the TV separate from anything staying. Check building rules before placing it in a shared pickup area.

  3. Show us the TV that is going.

Add a location photo and access notes after booking. Follow the readiness instructions in your confirmation. For exposed broken glass or unusual damage, send a photo and check with us before booking.

Televisions, computers and electronics

Special rules apply

Electronic waste is excluded from the recycling stream and referred to designated facilities that the city does not name.

City cost & eligibility
The city states that electronic waste does not belong in the recycling stream and belongs at designated e-waste facilities, but it names no facility, so confirm the location and any charge with Public Works at 337-491-1220 before loading the car.
When & how
Call the Public Works helpline at 337-491-1220 to find the designated e-waste facility that serves Lake Charles addresses, and keep the devices out of the Green Truck stops until then.
Get it ready
Keep televisions, computers and other electronics out of the recycling stream and out of the garbage container, which takes bagged kitchen and household waste, and clear personal data before handover.

Right item.
Right place.

Building materials, tires and hazardous waste stay off the curb

Under the city ordinance, building materials such as roofing, concrete, plaster, wallpaper, earth and trees from construction, repair or remodeling on private property are not collected and the owner must have them privately removed. Tires and automobile parts are not collected from residences and go to a dealer licensed by the Department of Environmental Quality, hazardous waste such as toxic materials, paint and medical waste needs a commercial hauler because the city is not authorized or equipped to handle it, and contracted tree removal debris is not eligible for the yard waste route.

City of Lake Charles Public Works Solid Waste Division

Recycle with the Green Truck and use a designated e-waste facility

A household with paper, cardboard, number 1 and 2 plastics, metal cans or clean packaging, or electronics that need a designated facility.

Cost & conditions
The city publishes no fee for the recycling drop-off and names no e-waste facility or charge, so confirm both with Public Works at 337-491-1220.
Arrange it
Take accepted recyclables to the Green Truck location of the day, with the weekday stops running 9 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. and the Saturday stops at Wal-Mart Hwy. 14 from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., Prien Lake Mall from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Nelson Ball Field from 9 a.m. to 3:45 p.m., and keep the material loose, clean and dry.

Plastic bags and film, Styrofoam, hazardous materials such as paint, chemicals and batteries, food contaminated items and electronic waste are not accepted in the recycling stream.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Lake Charles runs garbage and trash collection from Public Works at 337-491-1220: bagged garbage goes in the city-provided ninety-eight-gallon container and is collected weekly, and trash, which is any other household refuse including furniture and bedding that will not fit the container, is collected along with yard waste at least twice a month. White goods are picked up when the city runs its citywide collection, but the owner has to call ahead and any refrigerant must be professionally removed first, and the items must be free of perishable food with doors or lids removed or taped shut. Building materials from construction or remodeling, tires and automobile parts, and hazardous waste such as paint, chemicals and medical waste are not collected, so private removal, a Department of Environmental Quality licensed dealer, or a commercial hauler handles them instead. Recycling moves with the Green Truck to a different site each weekday, and electronic waste is excluded from that stream and belongs at a designated e-waste facility that residents confirm through the same helpline. Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

TV removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Lake Charles.

How much does TV removal cost in Lake Charles?

A flat-screen TV under 42 inches is $79 as the first item and $19 as an additional item. Larger flat screens and tube TVs have their own prices. Loading, transportation and disposal are included. Choose the type that matches your TV and review your total, including any applicable tax, before payment.

Can I get same-day TV pickup in Lake Charles?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup. Choose from the dates offered at checkout and have the TV outside according to your confirmation. We text you when your hauler is on the way and provide photos when the pickup is done.

Will Dropcurb remove my TV from the wall or carry it downstairs?

You arrange unmounting, disconnection and indoor carrying before pickup. Dropcurb starts at an accessible outdoor location, where we load your TV and take it away. If you need help removing a mounted TV or moving a heavy tube TV outside, arrange that separately before your pickup day.

Do you pick up old tube or CRT televisions?

Yes. Choose Tube TV for an older television with curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Its price is $249 as the first item and $249 as an additional item. A rear-projection television is a different item; send a photo before booking rather than choosing the tube-TV option.

Does my old TV have to work?

Your TV does not need to turn on for removal. Choose its type and size and arrange to have it outside before pickup. A non-working TV and a TV with exposed broken glass are different situations; send a photo of unusual damage so we can confirm the plan before you book.

Where do Lake Charles televisions and computers go?

Not in the recycling stream. The city lists electronic waste among the items not accepted for recycling and tells residents to take it to designated e-waste facilities, without naming one, so call the Public Works helpline at 337-491-1220 and confirm the facility and any charge before loading the car.Official guidance
