Massachusetts banned mattresses and box springs from disposal in November 2022, so Attleboro recycles them at the Recycling Center or through a private curbside company.
City cost & eligibility
$25 per mattress or box spring dropped at the Attleboro Recycling Center. Each item must be dry, free of bed bugs and free of mould, and the same fee applies per piece. A private curbside service the city names as a courtesy without any relationship or endorsement is the alternative, and its price is set by that company.

Bulky items are booked directly with Waste Management on 800-972-4545 for the published per item fee, and regular bulk scheduling pauses during a bulk amnesty week, when two small and two large items can be scheduled on the assigned trash day instead with an appointment made before the Thursday preceding the week.
The Recycling Center only takes a mattress or box spring that is dry and free of bed bugs and mould, and a wet, infested or mouldy mattress is turned away. A futon mattress is treated as a bulky item rather than a mattress, and the private curbside company the city names handles pickups without any city relationship or endorsement.

Cost & conditions
From $5 per tire dropped at the Recycling Center, with fire extinguishers at 5 dollars each and mattresses or box springs at 25 dollars each, while metal, electronics and large appliances are free to households in the trash program. The center serves residential units one through eight in the trash program, and anyone outside it buys a 30 dollar annual sticker. A television is free once each fiscal year inside the program with a sticker and 35 dollars outside it.
