Get it ready
The curbside weeks are a leaves and grass collection only: use paper bags, because plastic bags and barrels are not collected or emptied, and keep brush or other material out of the paper bags because a bag holding anything else is refused. At the yard waste area, residents with a facility sticker can also collect free compost with their own tools and containers, and a resident-owned landscaping business needs the commercial landscape contractor permit to leave leaves and grass there.
Carts for household waste, the transfer station for everything else
Trash and recycling go out in the town issued carts, and recyclable material must be separated and placed in the recycling cart rather than in bags in the trash, because the town follows the state waste disposal ban list and can refuse a non-compliant load. Materials too large or heavy for a cart, including furniture, mattresses and appliances, never go to the curb as a pile: the Board of Health regulation sends them to the transfer station on Woodfin Terrace and they are paid for there.
