Treadmill, walking pad or commercial model?
Household treadmill includes folding home models with a tall console. Choose Walking pad for a compact under-desk model, or Commercial treadmill for a large gym machine. All equipment opens those choices.
An exercise bike, elliptical or rower
Spin, upright, recumbent and air bikes all use Exercise bike, including Peloton and other brands. One elliptical includes its connected base, handles and pedals. Rowing machines and Pilates reformers have their own choices.
Weights, racks and benches
Add together the pounds of loose dumbbells, kettlebells, plates and barbells. Free weights are priced in 10 lb units, rounding the combined weight up. For example, 25 lb uses three units. Add a stand, rack or bench separately if it is going too.

Exercise equipment is not named in any Peabody channel: it is not on the white goods sticker list, it is not on the Recycling Center accepted list, and a Resident Dump Day takes only resident-hauled household trash within its weight cap. A machine is therefore confirmed with Public Services before it goes out.
City cost & eligibility
No city rate covers an exercise machine. The published bulky allowance is one item a week with no charge, and a dump day is a voucher route, so Public Services confirms which route fits the machine and whether any charge applies.
When & how
Call Public Services at 978-536-0600 before the machine goes out. If it rides the regular collection it goes out on the household's service day as the one bulky item; a dump day only works on a voucher Saturday.
Get it ready
Fold or tie down the deck and handles, remove the console and any battery pack so the electronics do not travel with the frame, and keep the machine dry. A treadmill belt and motor come off easily and take much of the weight out of the load, and a machine that still works is worth offering for resale first.
A dump day needs a voucher picked up before the Thursday deadline
Vouchers are monthly, expire on the residents' day for that month, are issued first come first served up to 100 per time slot, and carry no cost. The last day to pick one up or reserve one by phone is 2:30 p.m. on the Thursday before the event, no vouchers are issued on the Friday before, and proof of residency is required at the gate, where residents unload their own material into a dumpster.
The dump day household cap is 1,500 pounds for the fiscal year
The flyer caps a household at 1,500 pounds per fiscal year, measured per household rather than per property, with the printed window running from July 1 to June 30. A household over the cap is still allowed to dump, but pays the extra weight to Republic Services by credit card only, so confirm the current fiscal-year window with Public Services before loading a heavy vehicle.
A holiday pushes collection back one day for the rest of the week
When a 2026 holiday falls on a collection day, trash and recycling are delayed by one day for the remainder of that week, and the city buildings close. The 2026 list includes New Year's Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents Day, Patriots Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day, while Saturday July 4 is listed with no delay.
