Peabody publishes no current bulky item price on the Department of Public Services page. The trash notice linked from that page allows one bulk item a week at the curb with no charge and no sticker, so confirm the piece and the current terms with Public Services at 978-536-0600 before it goes out.
When & how
Set the piece out with the regular trash and recycling on the collection day; a Resident Dump Day works only on one of the six voucher Saturdays, in the 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. or 9:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. slot.
Get it ready
Keep the piece whole, dry and reachable, and take the cushions and feet off only if that makes the load easier to handle. A metal filing cabinet, desk or radiator is not a free bulky item: those sit on the white goods sticker list, and anything that still holds liquid, refrigerant or paint stays out of both routes.
A white goods sticker goes on the unit, not on a bag
The sticker is valid for one item and has to sit on the unit in a place the handler can see from the street. Call Republic Services at (781) 289-0500 by 3:00 p.m. at least one day before the regular rubbish day to be put on the pickup list, then have the item curbside by 7:00 a.m., or take it to 50 Farm Avenue with identification on a weekday between 7:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
A dump day needs a voucher picked up before the Thursday deadline
Vouchers are monthly, expire on the residents' day for that month, are issued first come first served up to 100 per time slot, and carry no cost. The last day to pick one up or reserve one by phone is 2:30 p.m. on the Thursday before the event, no vouchers are issued on the Friday before, and proof of residency is required at the gate, where residents unload their own material into a dumpster.
The dump day household cap is 1,500 pounds for the fiscal year
The flyer caps a household at 1,500 pounds per fiscal year, measured per household rather than per property, with the printed window running from July 1 to June 30. A household over the cap is still allowed to dump, but pays the extra weight to Republic Services by credit card only, so confirm the current fiscal-year window with Public Services before loading a heavy vehicle.
A holiday pushes collection back one day for the rest of the week
When a 2026 holiday falls on a collection day, trash and recycling are delayed by one day for the remainder of that week, and the city buildings close. The 2026 list includes New Year's Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents Day, Patriots Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day, while Saturday July 4 is listed with no delay.
