Match the screen

Flat screen or tube? Start with the shape.

The TV’s type and size determine which item to choose. A new model and an old model can use the same option if their shape and screen size match.

Flat-screen TVs

Measure the screen diagonally, corner to corner, without the frame. Choose under 42 inches or 42 inches and larger. A TV measuring exactly 42 inches belongs to the larger option.

Tube TVs

An older tube or CRT television has curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Choose Tube TV even if its screen is small. A rear-projection TV is different; send a photo before booking so we can check the fit.

TV stands and other electronics

The TV price covers the television. Add a media console, computer monitor or other item separately if it is going too. Choose only what you want removed and review the combined price.

Televisions, monitors and electronics

Special rules apply

Electronics are refused by the curbside bulk collection and by the cleanup weeks. The route is the city Electronics and Polystyrene event at the Department of Public Works, the free county electronics collections, and a few retail and scrap drop-offs.

City cost & eligibility
The city electronics and polystyrene event and the county collection events are free to residents, and the retail counters set their own terms, so confirm the next event date or the counter policy before loading. The county guide asks residents to call a listed business first because those listings change.
When & how
Use the city Electronics and Polystyrene number 6 event at the Department of Public Works, 150 S. Kendall St., on Saturday, March 21, 2026 from 9 to 11 a.m., or a free Calhoun County electronics collection, which has run at Bailey Park in Battle Creek. Best Buy on Harper Village Drive and Franklin Iron and Metal on South Avenue are the weekday options.
Get it ready
Delete the data from computers, phones and drives before handing anything over, and keep electronics out of the trash, the recycling cart and the bulk pile, because each of those refuses them. The county runs its household hazardous waste collection and its electronics collection as separate streams on the same event days, so hand a television to the electronics station rather than the hazardous waste table.

The curb window and the container limits

Battle Creek asks for garbage, recycling, bulk items and yard waste at the curb by 6 a.m. on the collection day, and the bins can go out after 1 p.m. the day before. Bins come back in by 9 a.m. the day after pickup and may not be stored in the front yard, under ordinances 1064.23, 1064.26 and 1064.27. No container may weigh more than 50 pounds or be longer than 4 feet, and needles, oil, paint, turpentine and batteries never go in a container. Trash, recycling, bulk items and yard waste can arrive on different trucks at different times, so an early truck is not a missed pickup.

Republic Services under contract with the City of Battle Creek, with Calhoun County Recycling and Solid Waste

Take electronics to the Department of Public Works event

A household with a television, monitor, computer, printer, phone, cable, power tool or other corded device that the curbside service will not take.

Cost & conditions
No charge. The city Electronics and Polystyrene number 6 recycling event is free to Battle Creek residents, who bring the material to the Department of Public Works on Kendall Street during the published event window.
Arrange it
Go to the Department of Public Works, 150 S. Kendall St., on an event day. The electronics and polystyrene number 6 event ran Saturday, March 21, 2026 from 9 to 11 a.m., and the polystyrene collection ran Saturday, October 24, 2026 from 9 to 11 a.m. The department contact is 269-966-3355 extension 1889.

Scrap metal and large appliances with refrigerant are not accepted at the event, and the polystyrene side takes only clean, dry number 6 foam without packing peanuts, flexible foam or construction foam. The event runs on published dates rather than every week, so anything time sensitive needs a weekday alternative.

Republic Services under contract with the City of Battle Creek, with Calhoun County Recycling and Solid Waste

Use the free Calhoun County collection events

A household with electronics, a television, an appliance, scrap metal or household chemicals that the curbside service refuses.

Cost & conditions
No charge. Calhoun County holds free recycling collection events for residential material from county residents, who stay in their vehicles while dropping off. Household hazardous waste, appliance, electronics and scrap metal collections are all free.
Arrange it
Watch the county event calendar, which has used Bailey Park at 1350 Capital Ave. NE in Battle Creek for a combined household hazardous waste, appliance, electronics and scrap metal collection, and the Calhoun County Fairgrounds at 720 Fair St. in Marshall for hazardous waste. Scrap tire collections run in Marshall and Tekonsha with a 10 tire limit and no rims.

Events are residential only, and the appliance terms change between sites: one Battle Creek site took refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, dehumidifiers and water coolers, while a later Albion event refused refrigerant units entirely. Hazardous waste collections exclude trash, tires, yard waste, construction and demolition waste and appliances, so each material needs its own event.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Self haul in Battle Creek starts with the weekly bulk collection, because the simplest route for a mattress or a couch is the curb on your regular trash day. When the curbside service refuses the item, the material moves in three directions. Electronics, televisions, appliances and scrap metal go to the free Calhoun County collection events, which have run a combined household hazardous waste, appliance, electronics and scrap metal day at Bailey Park at 1350 Capital Ave. NE in Battle Creek, and to the city Electronics and Polystyrene event at the Department of Public Works on Kendall Street. Household chemicals go to the county hazardous waste events only, which have used the Calhoun County Fairgrounds at 720 Fair St. in Marshall for household chemicals, and those collections exclude trash, tires, yard waste, construction and demolition waste, appliances and industrial waste. Scrap tires have their own collections, one run by the city at 135 N. Washington Ave. for Battle Creek residents and three a year run by the county in Marshall and Tekonsha, all with a 10 tire limit and no rims. For appliances that still hold refrigerant, the route starts at Reliable Refrigeration on Capital Avenue SW or Ted's Appliance on West Columbia Avenue for licensed removal at a published per-unit rate, after which the tagged unit rides the bulk truck or goes to Franklin Iron and Metal at 120 South Ave. Construction and demolition material has no municipal destination at all, so it stays with a private hauler. City garbage collection page with the weekly unlimited single-family service, the Republic Services contract and phone number, the rental and personal container rules with the 50 pound limit, the weekly bulk item collection with its accepted mattress and furniture list and the construction, tire and shingle refusals, the 6 a.m. curb time, the bin timing ordinances and the 2026 yard waste seasonBattle Creek Area Clean Water Partnership garbage and yard waste page with the bulk pickup appliance list of stoves, refrigerators, water tanks and washing machines, the mattress bagging rule and the retail bag prices, the removed doors condition, the licensed technician Freon removal and tag requirement, the refusal of tires and hazardous waste, the 50 pound and 4 foot limits and the cart rental rateCalhoun County recycling guide with the appliance and scrap metal guidance, the Freon removal services at Reliable Refrigeration and Ted's Appliance and their charge, the scrap metal yard, the electronics, cell phone, computer and furniture donation options, the scrap tire programme and the absence of any construction and demolition entry beyond the asbestos and demolition referralCalhoun County recycling events page with the free county-only collection programme, the household hazardous waste accepted and refused lists, the explicit exclusion of trash, tires, yard waste, construction and demolition waste and appliances from hazardous waste collections, and the April 27 2026 Bailey Park appliance, electronics and scrap metal collection lists including Freon appliancesCity environmental news release with the September 14 to 18 fall cleanup week, the September 14 scrap tire collection at 135 N. Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

TV removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Battle Creek.

How much does TV removal cost in Battle Creek?

A flat-screen TV under 42 inches is $79 as the first item and $19 as an additional item. Larger flat screens and tube TVs have their own prices. Loading, transportation and disposal are included. Choose the type that matches your TV and review your total, including any applicable tax, before payment.

Can I get same-day TV pickup in Battle Creek?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup. Choose from the dates offered at checkout and have the TV outside according to your confirmation. We text you when your hauler is on the way and provide photos when the pickup is done.

Will Dropcurb remove my TV from the wall or carry it downstairs?

You arrange unmounting, disconnection and indoor carrying before pickup. Dropcurb starts at an accessible outdoor location, where we load your TV and take it away. If you need help removing a mounted TV or moving a heavy tube TV outside, arrange that separately before your pickup day.

Do you pick up old tube or CRT televisions?

Yes. Choose Tube TV for an older television with curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Its price is $249 as the first item and $249 as an additional item. A rear-projection television is a different item; send a photo before booking rather than choosing the tube-TV option.

Does my old TV have to work?

Your TV does not need to turn on for removal. Choose its type and size and arrange to have it outside before pickup. A non-working TV and a TV with exposed broken glass are different situations; send a photo of unusual damage so we can confirm the plan before you book.

Where do televisions and computers go in Battle Creek?

To a collection event or a drop-off, because the curbside bulk collection and the cleanup weeks refuse electronics, while the county's own collection events take televisions, monitors, computers, printers and small appliances on the days they run. The city runs an Electronics and Polystyrene number 6 event at the Department of Public Works on Kendall Street, and Calhoun County runs free electronics collections that have used Bailey Park in Battle Creek. Best Buy on Harper Village Drive and Franklin Iron and Metal on South Avenue are the weekday options, though the scrap yard takes no televisions or monitors.Official guidance

Who collects trash in Battle Creek?

Republic Services collects under a contract with the City of Battle Creek, which gives single-family homes weekly unlimited trash, a weekly bulk item collection for anything safely liftable at the curb, and optional every-other-week recycling that requires enrolment. The hauler is at 269-216-8008, and the city Environmental Services office is at 150 S. Kendall Street on 269-966-3311. Trash, recycling, bulk items and yard waste may arrive on different trucks at different times.Official guidance

What happens to electronics that the city will not take?

They go to a collection event or a weekday counter, because the curbside bulk collection, the cleanup weeks and the county hazardous waste collections all refuse electronics. The city runs an Electronics and Polystyrene number 6 event at the Department of Public Works on Kendall Street, and Calhoun County runs free electronics collections that have used Bailey Park in Battle Creek. Best Buy and Staples take some devices, and Franklin Iron and Metal on South Avenue takes scrap metal but no televisions or monitors.Official guidance
