Clawson collects trash across the whole city on Wednesdays and runs its yard waste on a compost season that opens in April and closes in December. The City is a participant in the SOCRRA collection schedule, and SOCRRA operates the regional drop-off center, transfer station and compost site that handle what the curb does not. Yard waste is banned from landfills in Michigan, so Clawson only accepts it during the compost season.

Curbside yard waste runs from the second week of April to the third week of December, and the City accepts it only during the compost season because Michigan bans yard waste from landfills.

Get it ready
Use brown yard waste bags, or a container no larger than 35 gallons that is designated for yard waste only, and collect the free sticker from the Building Department at City Hall.
Clawson collects city wide on Wednesdays. Place material out after 5 p.m. on Tuesday and before 7 a.m. on Wednesday, and note that SOCRRA asks that all trash, recycling and yard waste be at the curb by 7 a.m. on the collection day.
Please bag all trash and close bags securely, and put them inside a can rather than loose. Refuse that is not in a container must be properly packaged and placed neatly at the street curb, not dumped or scattered.
In 2026 the Memorial Day and Labor Day weeks each delay collection by a day, to Thursday, while New Year's week runs on the normal schedule. All other holidays do not affect the collection date.

Set bagged and containerized material on the easement in front of your home or at the end of the driveway apron after 5 p.m. Tuesday and before 7 a.m. Wednesday, and use a free yard waste sticker with brown bags or a yard waste container during the compost season.
Bags are limited to 40 pounds and containers to 35 gallons and 60 pounds, and only Tringali Sanitation carts larger than the permitted size are acceptable. Yard waste is accepted only during the compost season.
