Match the screen

Flat screen or tube? Start with the shape.

The TV’s type and size determine which item to choose. A new model and an old model can use the same option if their shape and screen size match.

Flat-screen TVs

Measure the screen diagonally, corner to corner, without the frame. Choose under 42 inches or 42 inches and larger. A TV measuring exactly 42 inches belongs to the larger option.

Tube TVs

An older tube or CRT television has curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Choose Tube TV even if its screen is small. A rear-projection TV is different; send a photo before booking so we can check the fit.

TV stands and other electronics

The TV price covers the television. Add a media console, computer monitor or other item separately if it is going too. Choose only what you want removed and review the combined price.

  1. Arrange any unmounting first.

Dropcurb does not remove TVs from walls or do indoor carrying. Arrange the help you need before pickup day, including the trip down interior stairs or through an elevator.

  2. Choose a permitted outdoor spot.

Use a stable, accessible location with a clear path for loading. Keep the TV separate from anything staying. Check building rules before placing it in a shared pickup area.

  3. Show us the TV that is going.

Add a location photo and access notes after booking. Follow the readiness instructions in your confirmation. For exposed broken glass or unusual damage, send a photo and check with us before booking.

Televisions

Accepted with preparation

A television can go to the curb as a bulky item on the regular trash day, or it can go to the SOCRRA drop-off center by appointment with a voucher bought from the city.

City cost & eligibility
No charge. A television set out at the curb is a bulky item in the quarterly residential program with no separate charge; the SOCRRA alternative is a paid appointment described on that option.
When & how
Set the television beside the cart on your collection day before 7 am, or book a SOCRRA appointment and take it to 995 Coolidge Road in Troy during the posted drop-off hours.
Get it ready
Keep the screen out of the carts, protect a bare screen from breaking, and erase anything personal if the television stores data before it leaves your hands.

City of Rochester Hills and Priority Waste, with the Southeast Oakland County Resource Recovery Authority

Put the piece out with the regular trash

A single family household in Rochester Hills with a couch, mattress, appliance, television or other bulky piece that will not fit in a cart.

Cost & conditions
No charge. Bulky collection is included in the quarterly single family residential program that every household in the city pays for, so a piece set out on the collection day carries no separate charge.
Arrange it
Set the piece next to your carts by 7 am on your collection day and leave it there, with no call ahead, following the preparation the city lists for that item.

The curb takes household bulky items only. Car parts and pianos are refused, tires are sent to a tire store, paint, chemicals and most electronics go to SOCRRA instead, and asphalt, brick, concrete, railroad ties, rocks, root balls and sod are refused as project material.

Arrange it
Buy a voucher from the city Treasury at City Hall or through the city online payment page, print the voucher or receipt, schedule an appointment with SOCRRA, and bring the printed voucher with a driver licence to 995 Coolidge Road in Troy.

Appointment only, residents only and no businesses. Electronic confirmation on a phone is not accepted, the small share of latex paint and the material SOCRRA has stopped taking are refused, and there is no access to the drop-off center after 3 pm.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Anything the curb will not take usually leaves Rochester Hills by car. The SOCRRA drop-off center at 995 Coolidge Road in Troy takes paint, chemicals, batteries, bulbs and used electronics by appointment, and a Rochester Hills resident buys and prints a city voucher first because the center admits voucher holders from this community. Someone hauling a truckload instead can weigh it in at the SOCRRA transfer station next door on 991 Coolidge Road during the limited dumping hours. The city also points car parts to a junkyard, tires to a local tire store and concrete to a crushing or aggregate business, and the yard waste and compost site at 1741 School Road in Rochester Hills serves the yard trimmings that are not part of this guide. Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

TV removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Rochester Hills.

How much does TV removal cost in Rochester Hills?

A flat-screen TV under 42 inches is $79 as the first item and $19 as an additional item. Larger flat screens and tube TVs have their own prices. Loading, transportation and disposal are included. Choose the type that matches your TV and review your total, including any applicable tax, before payment.

Can I get same-day TV pickup in Rochester Hills?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup. Choose from the dates offered at checkout and have the TV outside according to your confirmation. We text you when your hauler is on the way and provide photos when the pickup is done.

Will Dropcurb remove my TV from the wall or carry it downstairs?

You arrange unmounting, disconnection and indoor carrying before pickup. Dropcurb starts at an accessible outdoor location, where we load your TV and take it away. If you need help removing a mounted TV or moving a heavy tube TV outside, arrange that separately before your pickup day.

Do you pick up old tube or CRT televisions?

Yes. Choose Tube TV for an older television with curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Its price is $249 as the first item and $249 as an additional item. A rear-projection television is a different item; send a photo before booking rather than choosing the tube-TV option.

Does my old TV have to work?

Your TV does not need to turn on for removal. Choose its type and size and arrange to have it outside before pickup. A non-working TV and a TV with exposed broken glass are different situations; send a photo of unusual damage so we can confirm the plan before you book.

Can a television go to the curb in Rochester Hills?

Yes. The city's Waste Wizard lists televisions as a bulky item that goes next to the cart on the regular trash day with no call ahead. A television also qualifies for the SOCRRA electronics drop-off in Troy if you would rather take it there by appointment.Official guidance
